Do not go to this school. Their tests are really hard, and in my math class, we got a question that no one knew. Many people failed or got 90's. And there are no retests! In other schools they get retests and get water falls up to a 100. Why can't we>:(. So, please do not go to this school.

EQUALITY some teachers I’m not gonna say exactly who but one of my teachers treat more popular students more nicely than more quiter ones. One time someone had gotten in trouble because their friend did something but just because he was sitting next to him he got in trouble so I think we need to tell their sides of the story before giving them lunch detentions. DUST I know the janitors can’t do everything and I’m grateful for them but there is a bunch of dust on the lockers around the school and on the bleachers in the small gym causing people to get sick which Ik again they cannot get it all BUT students would probably be glad to go clean some of that during flight time or sometime during class. MENTAL HEALTH this school does not care for mental health whatsoever we report something and they do NOTHING. The counselors don’t help at all and end up making things much much worse. They do that thing every 9 weeks where they say “call/text 988” but that literally does nothing. It’s literally just 3 words. They do whole presentation’s on scheduling flight times but not a presentation on suicides. TOO MUCH WORK homework on weekends and just too much in general, I understand we need to learn that’s ok but many students have no time to do it. IMPROVE the school can pay for automatic water dispensers but not good quality food. There are black spots in the food.
Students sometimes need to put their bags in the hallway for a class or bathroom which I think we don’t need to do because if there somehow was a shooting we wouldn’t be able to go out in the hall and retrieve our bags, but the shooter will know people are inside due to the outside bags.

I would love to write more but I believe I’ve said enough. I don’t encourage this school. Whatsoever. Thank you!

I am a current student at Fowler Middle School, and I would recommend this school. The teachers are nice and make it fun to learn instead of making us read a giant lecture. One problem I noticed is that 70% of the time, the subs never know what they are doing and make random rules they have no clue are even established in this school. For example, I had a sub that didn't let me use the bathroom and the only rule is that you can't use the bathroom in the first 10 or last 10 minutes in the period however we were good 20 minutes into the class with 20 minutes to go, so I was eligible to use the bathroom. Aside from that, the normal teachers are excellent and guide me on achieving A's. Also, the school takes safety protocols seriously, as they are really serious about any death threats, and we have a school police officer on campus at all times. We are one of the most academically decorated schools in the nation, as we are going to nationals for academic pentathlon at the time of this email. Finally, our sports are also really good, as we go to districts almost every year and perform amazingly. To conclude, Fowler Middle School is a good school and they have the awards, respectful teachers, and amazing coaches to back it up.

This school is terrible. Their chromebooks don't work, they assign you way too much work (even a class like health with a weightage of 0.5 has tons and tons and tons of work), their school choir is just.....horrible. Overall I would not recommend this school because they don't take time to teach students concepts thoroughly, most of the students are not very friendly to their introverted classmates, and lastly the work they assign is almost too much to bear and mentally straining.

In my time at Fowler, there were many problems with staff. An example of this is the AP's. The APs in this school (not all) are rude and are not helpful. They pick favorites (mostly popular kids) and punish those who aren't. Another example of bad staff is some of the teachers. Some teachers in this school are also rude, however, some of the teachers are nice and helpful. That is not all the problems with this school. Another main problem with this school is the lunch they serve it is inedible and the food should not be served. Overall the school has major problems and I don't recommend going to this school.

This school is amazing. There are never fights or problems of bullying. I love going to the school, and the teachers are excellent. Though favoritism has been noticed, it does not have a huge impact as all the teachers still do care about everyone. This is a great school and I would recommend it.

This is a great school for learning opportunities, but I don't think it is the best for your mental health. There are a few reasons I think this way. First, many teachers favor a small group of students instead of treating everyone equally. Some do this due to grades and the others is due to popularity. Although this sounds like a small issue, it really affects a child due to the lack of attention and ignorance. We wouldn't want this to happen because school is what shapes us to be who we are in the future. Secondly, there's an insane amount of homework that they throw at you without knowing how to do it. The reason I want to go to school is because of how loving the environment is. The school is full of new friends! I have never fallen as a victim of bullying or seen anyone get bullied. Overall, I think there's a sort of balance to this school. You can have fun, but don't stop learning. Just to add on, there is a huge issue with lunch rules. We are not allowed to get up and get lunch at our own time, we don't get to go to the bathroom unless we ask a teacher and they're allowed to say no. Sometimes, me and my friends only get 3 minutes to eat food that's barely edible. I for one think this is absolutely unfair to the students who pay so much for low quality food just so it can be trashed since they have no time whatsoever to eat it. We have to hope the teacher that dismisses us is in a good mood just so we can earn our daily nutrition. I hope we can fix this problem and face that our school isn't as perfect as the teachers want it to be. Most teachers make sure you have a safe place to talk to them, others make you not want to come to school at all.

This school is NOT what it appears to be! The bullying is horrible! The principal and APs don’t do anything about it and blame it on the kid when they are trying to defend themselves. This school also only helps the smart kids! I would not recommend this school!!! They smile in your face and don’t care about your kid unless you can help boost their test score numbers. It truly sad.

I would definitely not recommend this school. when i first came to fowler in 6th grade, the school was great. kids were nice, teachers were helpful, the environment was overall great, but unfortunately this has declined as the years have gone on. kids are constantly neglected and receive an excessive amount of work which is unsuitable for middle schoolers, not even high schoolers recieve this amount. many fights break out at this school, such as different grade levels beating each other up, and many threats. Bullying is a huge part of the environment, as many rumors are spread, even about kids who aren’t considered “popular.” some teachers are bias as well. one time i was feeling nauseous so i asked the teacher to let me use the restroom and they let me. as i was in the restroom, a private space, i text my older sister to see if she can pick me up as my parents are at work . the teacher who let me use the restroom barges into the bathroom and asks for my phone. she then proceeds to take it to the office and give me a detention, even though she knows my intentions. The teachers here are careless and negligent to student mental health and safety. I will say there are a very few decent teachers who did make me feel worthy. many students feel unsafe and uncomfortable, causing them to have misleading thoughts. the school creates extremely high expectations, allows bullying, and neglects children. I believe this school was once prosperous and a great learning environment for students, but has now dwindled into a mentally crushing environment. despite the good student progress and test scores, it is not worth risking a students mental health and possibly life. if you are considering sending a child to this school, please stay away! coming from a current student.

This school has a ton of double standards. It way be good test score but a lot of kids cheat on test and quizzes. The school food is literally cardboard and is not even edible and it cost 3.75 dollars and water isn’t even free. Also my friend once got pasta and it wasn’t even cooked properly also one time I got chicken tenders and there was black inside of it. Also they have this rule that you can’t get up at all in lunch without asking and yell at you the whole lunchtime. Now I hear that they have dumb bathroom rules like the 10-10 rule where you can’t go to the restroom with in the last and first 10 minutes of class. This school is also extremely stressful and packs your after school schedule. Some teacher favor kids how are popular and give them special treatment and advantages. Some staff members do not care as much for the students and are kinda selfish. In this school that do not address actual problems instead they focus on things like fundraiser and way to get the school more money rather than caring for the students. To add on the school never addresses bully the only thing they put was the stop it app that no one uses.

Sometimes there are ten pages of math in one night, along with other classes as well. Kiddos have no life anymore once beginning Fowler. It's excessive and ridiculous.

Posted: October 7, 2019

Only a few actually communicate. Others wait until the kid is in dire straights before even contacting parents making it nearly impossible for them to catch up.

Posted: October 7, 2019

They give so much work and put so much pressure on kids with a sink or swim attitude. All that's really important is academics, much more so than mental wellbeing or a love or learning. It's been very disappointing.

Posted: August 5, 2018

Overall, they don't give much homework so I don't think that we learn much. The teachers only have a limited time frame to teach and the homework that they give is not very effective for first time learners.

Posted: August 5, 2018

They expect you to put this school above your job, especially for early pickups on work days and if you get detention they will not care about your schedule. (did not happen to me personally but I have seen it happen)

Posted: May 2, 2018

Students with learning differences such as Dyslexia are not given a fair chance with Fowler’s Band. Fifth grade students are approved to play an instrument based on an initial tryout. After the tryout the Band Director researches the kid’s records prior to entering 6th grade. If your child has a learning difference they are discouraged from playing the instrument of their choice. Children are not given a fair chance even if they have previous musical experience. This is not an isolated incident, I have heard from several parents that the band director contacted them and discouraged them from pursuing the instrument of their choice.

This school has wonderful academic, athletic, and fine arts programs, but yet has many flaws. I will not lie, this is the best school in the DFW area for academics. Unfortunately, the athletics coordinators are rude and biased towards students. They are certainly not forgiving, and some are very biased towards the students. The social situation at Fowler is a complete mess. The school prides itself upon being diverse and against bullying, but racist stereotypes are everywhere. The students are separated by socially by their race, and although i don't know the cause, there are students that are complete elitists, despite their character. White students are more popularly seen by their teachers, leading to their undeserving academic excellence. And as for bullying, the staff does not act upon serious bully reports. I have witnessed a situation(s) in which a student will use the "handy" online bully report website, and although the guilty will get called to the principal's office, there are no consequences. Repeat offenders will most likely be let off with a warning and nothing else. Additionally, the administrators have enforced a sexist dress code placed upon by the district, and the punishment for females who have been discovered to violate the dress code is to shame them by making them wear bright red pants for the rest of the school day. Their original clothes shall be returned to them at 3:35, which is when school ends. The school and district have made multiple claims that the dress code rules also apply to males, but upon observing the student handbook addendum, one can see that most restrictions are placed upon the girls. In conclusion, this is a wonderful academic school with more than a couple of skeletons in their closet.

Honesty, Integrity and Fairness are very important values but I really don't know if Fowler makes a special effort to develop these values. The focus is on the academics.

This is my son's first year at Fowler. The quality of education at Fowler has truly impressed us so far! It has exceeded our expectations, which are quite high! This is like a private school, only better! They have the best teachers and the best programs like the orchestra, the band, and the Math and Science Team.

Coming toward the end of three years at Fowler I couldn't have hoped or expected a better , educational experience or environment for my son. Our experience at FMS along with FISD has exceeded every expectation and raised the bar on what can be accomplished in public schools. I applaud the staff at FMS and wish to thank them for their exemplary service !

The principals only care about money, status, and wealthy/influential parents' kids. If you're not rich, they will let the teachers and everyone else trample your child's dignity and self-esteem. Disgraceful.

Posted: January 5, 2014

One last thing, fowler is extremely diverse. About 35 percent asian 45 Caucasian 10 African American and 8 percent Hispanic and 2 other. So I'll you are uncomfortable with the mixing of cultures best avoid our school.

Posted: January 5, 2014

Terrible. The teachers are nice, but the administrators are all rude and completely disconnected from the student body. Struggling or non-conforming students are treated in an abusive manner, and no one tries to show any compassion. The head principal is a bully who fosters a culture of bullying at this school. Don't send your child here if you can help it.

My 2 kids went to Fowler. Most of the teachers are nice and very good teachers. As more then one parent mentioned in her/his post, my children don't like the the coaches and the assistant principal either. They are clueless when it comes to talking with kids. Most kids are afraid to talk to them, even to ask simple questions, especially coaches. Example: my daughter missed a game and i wanted to know if she was gonna play the next one and/or she has stay after practice for make ups. My daughter did not want to talk to the coach, she was scared to be yelled at. Then i wrote an email, simple and short just to check about scheduling. I work and there is no bus after normal dismissal time, so I need to prepare myself. For my surprise, the coach went straight to my daughter complaining that I should not have written to them, that she (my daughter) would find that out in pracice. Really??? Whats wrong with that???? Why they are so aggressive and passive aggressive???? Not happy with that :( Anyways, that's the only negative thing about Fowler.
