they don't give us free seating and teachers are sometimes mean and we only have 3 councilor per 584 students and they don't let us be creative.

I have been reporting everything and they don't do nothing. We are new in this distric and i am very dispointed about this school i am going to report to the distric because all that is bad for the kids . I take my kid to school to learn not to be yeald or hear the teachers said bad words or to be sad for how they traide them in ther. Pleace think about it first before you take your kid in this school

Emails from the school far too frequently about threats to the school, poor attendance and more. Videos from my student showing teachers fighting students. Teachers talking to students like they are trash. We had such high hopes for Blalack but our experience is falling so short of expectations. Our overall CFBISD experience (two students) is making me wish I had the resources to homeschool. If I never had to send them back I wouldn't.

Former student, graduated 8th grade in 2013. ItÂ’s sad reading all of these reviews that bullying is STILL so out of hand. My entire middle school career I was constantly bullied by my peers and even my former teachers/coaches. This school is a very weird mix of well off families and poorer families, and a lot of the children are just plain mean. I had things stolen from me (books, pencils, pens), returned my reminder binder with vulgarity all over it calling me slurs, had a coach bully me so bad infront of the class because of my asthma, that my mom went up to the school over 15 times and nothing was ever dealt with. I wish they would do better and take ACTUAL preventative steps to bullying.

This school is awful! I would not recommend any student to come here, and I can't wait until my 8th grader gets out of here. Front office on down is bad. The only one worth mentioning is the new principle but all the rest of the staff and teachers get a big fat "0". Sad part is, I had two children go to this school years ago, but that was when the staff showed they cared about the students.

After noticing hurtful and discriminating languages against China in a the school’s 6th grade social class quiz (if you don’t know about this, please google “ ‘Derogatory’ language against Asians on middle school test prompts investigation in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD“), I felt very disappoint with teachers, the school board and the whole CFBISD. If teachers/schools don’t show respect to people/groups of different color, race or national origin, kids/students may act disrespectfully and eventually bully their friends, teachers or families in our Asian community too. We live in Carrollton now and this really concerns me as we seen a rise in racist activity against the Asian community recently and it is so near and even reaches schools. We don’t want to be silent agains on Asian hates. Hope everyone knows what happened here and this is me say “no” to it!

How to avoid bullying? Don't go to Blalack Middle School. The bullying at this school is out of control. The way the school tries to handle it is by not allowing kids to talk, not even during lunch. I am sure this only bottles up anger even more. They are also way behind in all subjects. My daughter knew more than all of her peers and most of the teachers and my daughter was an average student from our last school. It appears there is a large turn over with teachers, which could be part of the problem. I don't recommend this school.

There are many good teachers at this school however the administration enacts asinine policies made to make their lives easier instead of policies that benefit the children.

Children aren't allowed to talk at lunch.

They are severely limited in the amount of bathroom breaks they're allowed to take. Young girls just getting used to having their monthly periods can easily go through their allotted bathroom breaks for the month in a single week.

Administrators don't communicate with parents well especially on things concerning detentions. Your child simply won't show up to be picked up on time, leaving parents to freak out about where their child is.

They also require children to buy a planner and a student ID every year, regardless of whether or not the child uses it or the family can afford it. While student IDs are necessary, the first one should be free, like they are at pretty much every other school in the district.

I have lived in several different areas and have honestly never hated a school more.

Very active PTA. Teachers care, and are responsive to my emails. School Administrators are available. There are a TON of clubs and activities for the kids to get involved in. The Fine Arts programs are AMAZING!!! Tutorials are offered every day if a student would like to take that opportunity.

In the 2012-2013, Blalack got a new principal and it was a much needed change. In his first year, the new principal cleaned house. He got rid of negative, ineffective teachers, and replaced them with high-quality student-centered teachers. The change in the culture has been dramatic and the students have definitely benefit from the new positive behavior system! Blalack once again is organized, fun, and producing high achievement for all students. Blalack is a great community for students and families to get involved.

This school has horrible teachers teaching 8th grade. I have had extensive issues that have gone all the way to the state level with two of the teachers. I am extremely disappointed that my child had to attend this school. My child has not been well prepared to enter high school. The new administration is trying, but the staff exhibits no respect for the administration, so they have been largely ineffective. Very sad that the teachers in 8th grade have lost sight of the importance of providing a quality education to our youth.
