Be very wary of the school. Ran by a group of relatives for the most part and if you gwt on their bad side they will wear you down until they find a reason to expel your child, or you just give up and withdraw. If your child has any disability, you have no rights, so be careful.

Teachers here are highly skilled in teaching utilizing the Charlotte Mason Method. They don't simply assign grades for each child, they provide parents comprehensive evaluations of their student's progress in many diverse areas. Areas such as leadership, ability to adapt, temperament, relating to other classmates, etc. Very thorough.

It amazes me how well teachers and the leadership are able to assist the students in learning self-control of their bodies, their emotions and their habits. Corporal punishment is NEVER used at Ambleside.

There have been significant numbers of students at all grade levels who had learning difficulties and succeeded.

There is not a bullying problem at Ambleside. It is simply not tolerated.

Absolutely wonderful! I attended this school for 13 years and I would honestly recommend it to any parent wanting their child to receive a wonderful education.

I studied the Charlotte Mason philosophy of the process on educating children and it completely aligned with how I wanted my son's education to be. My son has made so much progress not only in the required areas the state requires, but he is learning how to play violin, bible study, and has become so empathetic and polite. Also, discipline is done with a lot of love and understanding so as the child understands that actions have consequences. I strongly recommend if you live in the San Angelo area to consider attending our May open house so you can get a better feel of the school.

I am very familiar with all the schools in the San Angelo, both public and private. My husband and I toured every school we even remotely thought was a possibility for our Kindergarten daughter last year and prayed that God would lead us to the best school for her and our family. We are so blessed and beyond pleased with the education, environment, and staff at Ambleside. Paying tuition is a sacrifice for our family, but at Ambleside, I am more than willing to pay. The methods, philosophy, and Godly convictions of Ambleside set this school apart. I cannot imagine sending our daughter anywhere else. She is happy, flourishing socially and academically and spiritually. I know she is loved, attended to, and cherished every day that she is at school. What else could a mother ask for?

I have not noticed that this is a problem for Ambleside. I do know of one boy in elementary grade that had bullying problem at a public school. He has told me directly that every one at Ambleside is his best friend. No bullying for him here!

Each student is treated as an individual, whether ahead of the curve or catching up. The methods used to encourage students in their own abilities is just beautiful. Truly. The size of classrooms is very conducive to this type of teaching.

My daughter has been at Ambleside for 2 years, but I feel like I know and that my daughter is loved by every single teacher there. That goes a long way for this mom, in feeling that every teacher, even those that do not teach her directly, genuinely care and notice every student.

Ambleside is the BEST private school available to students in the San Angelo area. The teachers are of the highest quality and utilize the advanced curriculum to the students' benefit. My children are loved and will be prepared for anything the future holds.

I have two children attending Ambleside School of San Angelo. I never imagined sending my kids to a private school. However, after attending kinder in a public school it became my mission to find a better alternative for my oldest son.
At Ambleside, my kids are coming to love to learning while receiving a rich and rigorous curriculum. A big focus in early grades is the development of lifelong healthy habits that support learning and success later in life. The atmosphere supports real growth rather than fostering stress, while the teachers and school center on Christ.

Among private schools, Ambleside is priced below many competitors while providing superior teacher-student ratios. Parent participation is expected, but fundraisers are only held twice a year - not every few weeks like at other schools. School administration also does a good job communicating with parents on a weekly basis; in addition to the typical parent teacher interactions.

Charlotte Mason was an English author, philosopher and educator. Her educational philosophy is the basis for the instructional method at Ambleside. This school focuses on her educational principles which are best summarized as, "Children are born Persons and Education is an Atmosphere, a Discipline, and a Life."

I attended Ambleside from 2003-2007 and it was one of the most enriching educational experiences of my life. The small class size and analytical evaluation of the written word fosters a love of learning that is rare in today's society. The teachers constantly encourage students to take a hold of their education and make it an experience of their own in order to foster their own dreams for the future. The curriculum embraced the classics and made scholarly writing second nature for students. In fact, there was rarely a piece of literature assigned in high school or college that I had not read during my time at Ambleside. Most importantly, the environment at Ambleside engendered the development of the student-citizen in the truest sense of the phrase--an informed, well-rounded member of society determined leave his or her community in a better state than he or she found it. I recently completed my first semester at one of the nation's top law schools and much of my success is a consequence of my experiences at Ambleside. I would highly recommend the Charlotte Mason philosophy to anyone who asked.

after many inpropriaties we realized this school was not a good choice when responses were lacking in many regards. using greatschools reviews in choosing this school, we didnt realize only recommended reviews were posted or rather biased for only the better. seems misleading or rather deceptive to hide honest experiences.

Ambleside School of San Angelo is truly unique in its philosophy and methodology. I had all but given up on primary education until I saw what was happening at this amazing school. The Charlotte Mason philosophy is based in every child being seen as a person, deserving a rich education filled with living ideas, art, music, Bible, language, field study, strings, and a strong core curriculum in literature, history, math and science. The goal is to have students love learning and Ambleside students do just that. They also build real and lasting relationships with each other. Most of these things cannot be found in the public school system anymore, and are a priceless commodity for any parent. The twice yearly, teacher designed essay style examinations are a true reflection of the great ideas the students have learned in a semester. The field studies (trips) are designed for student learning in the curriculum they are studying. Children at Ambleside truly love to learn the great ideas placed before them in a safe Christian environment.

I consider myself extremely lucky to be the parent of an Ambleside student. The environment encourages the love of learning. I know that my son is in the best possible place every day. He has developed a positive attitude towards learning and truly misses school on the weekends. I know that my son's teacher cares about him as an individual. The entire staff, including the principal, are remarkable human beings. Academically, you won't find higher standards. I work in the public school system and see my son far exceeding the public school students in all subject areas. The attention that Ambleside pays to the arts is amazing. Many public schools have neglected art and music with the increased focus on standardized testing. Each month I make a sacrifice to pay his tuition. You do not have to be wealthy to be accepted and loved at Ambleside. If you are looking for a better option, go see them. The difference is obvious.

Ambleside School of San Angelo, Texas is a school where students are able to be themselves, to achieve their highest aspirations and to still be able to study in a Godly environment. I would recommend this school for anyone that would like an excellent education for their children and not be influenced by the world.

The first day of 7th grade my son said, " That was actually the best day ever. I actually liked it and it was fun." On the fifth day of school he said, "My brain is tired from trying to get all of the knowledge." We have been here at Ambleside since Kindergarten. We love this school, the teachers, and the administration. Teaching to my child's heart.....what could be better? He is growing as a whole person, in which one day will serve him quite well. He will be ready for college both academically and socially.

We love the Ambleside of San Angelo. It is a wonderful school full of great teachers who truly care for students. They teach the whole child and while the challenging academics are important, so is instructing children in habits of kindness and respect. The school strives to instill positive character habits which is something all children must master in order to succeed. They read classic literature. It is NOT just reading books for points. Children fall in love with reading because of rich characters and compelling story lines of the books chosen. The school has an outstanding arts program and children learn violin. Please stop by, tour it, and see! Once you do, you won't want your child anywhere else.

A superb education with character molding- Ambleside School is like homeschooling only not in Your Home. I especially enjoy ready the rich literature in their original works along with my children San Angelo is blessed to have this SUPERB EDUCATION offered in this town. The cons are the tuition, lack of sports, and only a few kids in high school. The positives are the people, the location, and the small classes. If my kids had learning disabilities, I would not choose here as they don't offere the services public school does.

Ambleside was an answered prayer for my family. A large part of why their methods and philosophy of education works is centered on the relationships the students have with work, others and subjects. This allows the students to become well rounded in all subjects as well as life. Obviously, this is a small example of how the Ambleside education fosters amazing thinkers and leaders for America's future!
