My kids started their school career at Mi Casita and still remember it fondly as do I. Montessori is amazing. Building on a foundation of respect and learning as natural, the method teaches children that they can do for themselves through practice and refining. Montessori, however, has to be done right in order to be effective and at Mi casita, they do it right. Tirelessly setting the environment each morning and constantly tweaking it as the years go by toward perfection is the Mi Casita difference. They seek out staff who can be Montessori (not an easy task given every adult in a child's life is a part of his environment) and train them well. I now have two intelligent, independent problem solvers who, at 14 and 16 years of age, can do more than most adults in this world and who were, at preschool age, setting and clearing the table for dinner, dressing themselves and reading/writing in 2 languages. My high schooler's teachers were surprised and amazed at his level of independence, reading level and writing level and are often slightly annoyed at how he's always finding better ways to do what they assign. We owe this not only to Montessori, but to Montessori done right at Mi Casita. Highly recommend this school to anyone with children toddler through Kindergarden.

Excellent teaching methods and kids learn Spanish very quickly. Recommend this school to anyone seeking a different type of learning environment.

The teachers at the school are charismatic, gentle, and truly care about the students. I was impressed to visit and find the older children spelling out long words in Spanish on their own. There is a culture of caring for one another and the children seem to enjoy helping each other and keeping an orderly and peaceful environment. My daughter loves the school and the teachers, especially being able to communicate with them in Spanish. I see her learning and growing every day in different ways and we will be staying there through graduation. No regrets joining Mi Casita Montessori. We love it there!

I was drawn to this school because of the Spanish immersion factor. But there were too many negative experiences that outweighed it. My son complained of teachers being "mean", "yelling" at him to the point of tears on several occasions, and that he'd either be ignored or sent to the restroom until he stopped crying. Finding out your 4 year old was dismissed or not consoled when crying is heart breaking! I spoke with his teacher (who is also the owner) to maybe clarify a misunderstanding, but she confirmed it, and tried putting a "tough love" spin on it. I didn't buy it.
They allow parent observations during one month, which you have to schedule so teachers may prepare (what for?? other schools allow you to drop in freely as long as you respect their work cycle. ) My son's teacher, Senora Myra always seemed annoyed, frustrated, and with little patience when interacting with kids. The vibe I got when observing was very negative, children working nervously, and being directed in a militant manner. Certainly not the learning environment that was described to me prior to enrollment, and not the peaceful environment/guidance you'd find in a true Montessori school and teacher.
