Pinkerton is only one of a handful of elementary IB program schools in Texas! This quality IB school far exceeds any elementary school curriculum. It focuses on each student as an individual. It elevates their education from each ones learning style all the way to their celebrating every culture. My children have loved all of their teachers and have excelled in their subjects. Math and science are most definitely being taught, multiplication and division start in 3rd grade and is a big focus through 5th grade.

Overall, I feel many of the teachers are very warm and encouraging with their students. I am concerned about the lack of a strong math/science foundation, but I am filling those voids during summer vacation. The art, PE, and music teachers are all phenomenal, and my son had great experiences with them the 2 years he was there.
Unfortunately my son's 5th grade classroom experience overshadows all the positives Pinkerton offers (it really was THAT discouraging). I honestly don't think I would recommend placing an elementary student in that type of classroom environment. The fact that I don't appear to be the only one with this concern should indicate there IS an issue that needs to be addressed.

My 5th grader NEVER had homework to practice new skills they were currently learning in class. They do not have the opportunity to learn how to actually study before moving on to middle school.

Overall, I should probably say neutral. My son attended for 4th and 5th grades. His 4th grade teacher had an awesome personality and was very strong in language arts, and my son grew in this area. However, math and science instruction were very lacking both years.
His 5th grade year was a miserable experience. His teacher was extremely disparaging/condescending and acted in a manner I've never experienced. I don't know if the prior review (also from 2017) is discussing the same teacher my son had (I suspect it is), but I agree with the "bully" classification of the teacher.

I agree, the school helped teach my son to be reflective, and they encourage these traits in their students.

I asked the principal if I could speak with her regarding my concerns with my son's teacher and she referred me to the AP. The AP is very open and great to talk to, but I don't feel very much was addressed with the teacher, as my son still had negative experiences up until the last week of school.
Apparently I'm want the only parent with negative experiences, and perhaps the administration should look into the concerns of parents.

This entire site has lost it's credibility due to the Coppell school district ratings. It is obvious that these ratings are about property value and not the schools.
This school does not focus on the students. It focuses on itself.
The entire class that my son attended for two years, never learned multiplication. They recognized that from third to fifth grade they hadn't taught the class multiplication. And then they continued to not teach this to the fifth grade class.
The entire grade class!
What's more is that the teacher sent me a stock letter about my son failing more than one subject when I confronted a different issue about a week after conference.
We switched to this school from Austin Elementary because they weren't teaching much there either.
My child now has a 100 in math because he is being taught at home.
The experience at this district has fallen short of the high tax dollars. Very political. The last homework my son had, was coloring the states on election night. In fifth grade!

The teacher was a bully to the entire class.

Leadership was pretty uninvolved in the curriculum as far as I could tell.

The schools goal is to make good, tidy citizens, that don't ask questions and don't explore on their own.
Fit them into a box.

My child told me that his teacher was a bully from the beginning of the year.
I actually experienced this myself by the middle of the year.
It was disgusting.

Rarely do the students get homework. When they do get homework, it is more relevant to the political arena than any academia.

We just finished our 5th grade year at Pinkerton, an IB candidate school. We were beyond impressed with how our child grew this year. The 5th grade program concludes with an exhibition towards the end of the school year. The students were so well versed on their topic and had amazing presentation skills. Wonderful program! We've enjoyed seeing the changes they've made at this school to incorporate the IB curriculum, which develops the whole child as an inquirer and global citizen. Great parent community too!

My daughter's 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Hope is awesome. She takes time to identify the strengths of every student in her class and works with each and every one of her students to help them achieve their greatest potential. She is truly a remarkable teacher and one of the greatest teachers I've come across in a very long time.

Pinkerton has been home for our two children. We've found the staff to be innovative and encouraging. They have innovated recently with International Night and have unique extra-cirricular acticities such as Marimba band and after-school science and art classes. Pinkerton's IB Curriculum introduced this year has also further inspired our kids' learning. We highly recommend the school.

I will agree that the office staff is very rude. I'm looking for other opcion for my kids next schoolar year. I don't want to deal with them anymore. I am very dissapointed in Pinkerton.

This is a district that loses a significant amt of money to Robinhood. However, after telling the kids to "just say no" during Red Ribbon Week, they turn around and sell alcohol at the school auction to benefit the students. This sends a mixed and very wrong message to the students. However, three wine baskets bring in a lot of money and apparently, money is more important than ethics. Very sad!
