My son had a terrible experience at this school, I can't put the entire blame on the school but my son AB honor roll all his life, never had any type of problems, turned into failing grades, fights, emotional problems, it was a nightmare for our family. This school is overcrowded and has NO control of students. Several fights everyday, students vaping/skipping/cursing, teachers have NO interest in helping students, some are not there full days so I can NEVER get ahold of them. Be careful when sending your child to this school, make sure they are able to stand their ground and able to withstand some serious temptations.

Oh man, where to begin. The school is the feeder school for IB students, so it is the best option on paper for our child. However, this is a drastic down grade from Windsor Park. Don't have a crisis. Don't need any help. No one is ever available. No one will return your calls or emails. Everyone "passes the ball" to someone else in terms of responsibility. I definitely do not feel my child is cared for or supported here. This may be due to understaffing, or overworked, underpaid staff - but is highly noticeable. If your child goes there, just be diligent as best you can to make sure your child is cared for.

My son is a 6th grader at this school this year (20-21). This year has been particular hard with all the COVID adjustments that have needed to be made. I feel like the school has done everything they can to help allow the students to adjust and get everyone on the same page. This being our first year, I have only had interaction with the 6th grade teachers. Most of them are amazing and really care and love the students. There are some who are bitter and angry and it shows in their student/teacher relationships. Although this has not been ideal, it has given me the opportunity to help my son understand that sometime you will have difficult people you need to deal with in life.
Again, I am only familiar with the 6th grade admin team, but they have gone above and beyond for us this year. Mrs. Swanson, the 6th grade AP is always welcoming, polite and personable. Her and the consolers office have been amazing at helping my son transition to middle school in such a crazy and different time.
The school is brand new and it beautiful. So far it is really well maintained and kept up to date. My son feel really comfortable and enjoys attending school at Baker.

As a parent of an IB student, and a military family, I am generally pleased with the school. It is unfortunately overcrowded, and because of that the kids have very strict rules at lunch, and aren't allowed to go to their lockers most of the time. I have had very good results with the teachers responding to emails/phone calls and they have been great about using echalk to show assignments/test/grades. Twice now the admin has quickly and effectively dealt with bullying issues - I was definitely impressed with their concern and swift action. The school also has some nice clubs/programs. They are still "learning" how to handle special ed differences. Overall, I think they do the best that they can with the overcrowding and two schools in one.

Do not be fooled by the awards! Of course the scores are high, it is home to the gifted and talented. I suggest that a patent spends a day at the school to see the real truth. Teachers do not return calls, there is a theft problem, and there IS a real problem with bullying! Time for new leadership in this school. I would love to see a new principle come in! No speakers in the gym...so, if you miss announcements- too bad. Councilors are purely academic.. No one is there to speak to your child. I will say the nurse who has been there years is excellent. There are alsosome good teachers and staff. Watch your cafeteria dollars!! They have a way of "leaving" your account. Also, the cafeteria women are the most rude I have EVER encountered.
