didnt get to finish my last review as I was saying, the principal Mrs Stinson. has totally taken a wonderful school and turned it into some kind of mini prison ,over half the parents I have spoken to do not care for her. Most of the teachers are afraid of her except for her little click that she brought with her when she used to be the assistant principal over at Metro E. The only good thing I could say about Smith elementary is the majority of the teachers first class, love them They go away and beyond to teach their students and to help them, office workers and the cafeteria workers are all topknot, except for their one or two of staff members that are not so good they act just like the principal. she has no interactions with her students or the parents that go to that school. If it wasnt for her father, she would not even be a principal as a matter of fact, she acts like some teenage kids. She has no business running no school worst principal ever just on the count of her. I would not send my child there. I would send them somewhere else. And I have been with Smith for over 20 years.

Son has been here since the middle of his 1st grade year and is now in the 2nd grade. His teachers SWIFT AND STERN have never given him or I any trouble. He seems very happy here which makes mama happy. He's in the spelling bee too. My son can be a typical 7yr. Old and that can escalate when he doesn't have his meds. These teachers have been very patient and kind to him and awesome about keeping me informed about his behavior. Teachers these days expect these kids to be little soldiers. Not his teachers You can tell they love their job and students.
Only complaint is I wish I could be informed about when they have assemblies.
I also love how they are involved in today's technology with class dojo. Live seeing my boy hard at work and having fun while doing it
Go Road runners.

My daughter has gone here for kindergarten as well as first grade and both years had really great caring teachers. This is a great school mostly because of the staff. I wouldn't recommend the PTA at this school. But the teachers work really hard and put on awesome events for the kids. This school wants to do better and they try a lot of new things trying to figure out how. I think the staff at the schools that are doing better asking with the staff of others who aren't should all get together and figure it out for the benefit of our kids futures.

My Daughter started to attend Weldon Smith this year. She is in Pre-K. The Teachers are AWESOME! My 4 year old is already reading sight words and beginning to sound out simple words, she has only been in class for 2 months! The PTA is very nice, if you know who to contact. The VIPS (volunteers in public schools) is very good, too.
