I love this school. My daughter has been going here since kindergarten and shes now in the third grade. The teachers here are amazing and are so involved in the kids lives. Its also ethnically diverse. I couldnt ask for a better school or better people to be in my kids life.

My first grader had homework most nights, but it was generally a reasonable amount and he usually understood how to complete it. Homework was sent in an organized folder, and communication in newsletters from teacher was clear and consistent. Parents initial each night regarding daily behavior in class and return folder to school daily in backpack. I found this system to be effective in keeping teacher, parent, and student on the same page.

My son has had great teachers who invested in his personal success. When he came in with learning gaps, this was recognized and addressed with tutoring. When he began to excel, this was communicated as well. I know the teachers are effective because I see the evidence in how my son's reading and math skills have progressed. He also talks about hands-on, interactive learning opportunities, such as studying live caterpillars/butterflies to discuss metamorphosis.

I'm neutral on this one because I don't have experience with how this school performs in regards to learning differences.

I have not had an experience with a bullying issue on this campus. I do know that they educate the students on the concept of anti-bullying.

I'm very happy with my experience at Dan D. Rogers. My child loves it, and I'm thrilled with his academic progress.

Some of the advisors seem to show a general concern and care for the students, while others (including administrative staff and principal Lovado) seem to be short tempered and overly aggressive.
Posted: May 24, 2017
Based on personal experiences I believe that even some of the administrators at this school do NOT possess the qualities of strong character, making it hard to trust that the students are being lead in the right direction.
Posted: May 24, 2017
I would be hesitant to believe that the administrators would have the ability to possess the patience to fully support and cater to students/parents dealing with learning disabilities.

My child is in K and receiving 3+ assignments each night, which at times seems overwhelming considering this is her first year. Also, I have taken note that the completed assignments have not always been graded or accounted for, which has raised concern about how they are able to measure any sort of academic process if the teachers are unable to keep up with the work load themselves.

I would love to keep my child in this school bc of the generational ties my family has to it, but I am heavily considering another. The bad is beginning to out weigh the good, especially after having read similar reviews from others.

We were hesitant to change schools last year, but am glad we came "home" to our local elementary. Within first week of school my kids were saying they liked it after 4 years at another school. Principal Lovato is tough and has high standards, which explains the many school and personal milestones achieved including Principal of the Year, but she is strategic, organized and loyal to her teachers (high retention rate) with just enough compassion to keep her from being rigid. My daughter's teacher is in the top 100 district wide, all the teachers seem to know my kids and their experience so far feels truly collaborative. They have bent over backwards to help my son, who has ADHD, succeed and I think personalized learning has helped with that. We'll be back for 2017-2018!

I am so impressed with this school. The principal, Lisa Lovato, is principal of the year for all of DISD. The personalized learning curriculum is incredible. It really tailors learning to each students' strengths. The outdoor learning area is really coming along and I expect it to be amazing when it is finished. There is a very active early childhood PTA. Great things are happening at the school.

This question is irrelevant to my review as stated my daughter is a student at another campus

My child attends Hexter and this question is not relevant to my complaint . Once again this lady is a bully to my child

Poor leadership ...very unprofessional ...can't believe she is Principal of this school. I can't believe she is back at the helm

what makes this school great is the teachers, the principal lisa lovato is horrible. she is rude and she is not fair at all. she gives preferences to her daughter who is a bully but won the class citizenship award!! really!! she bullied my child and always threating her that she can do anything to her because her mom is the principal. besides all that she is VERY RUDE!!! I cant believe she is the principal of the school. Also she plays the role that she dont speak spanish when she clearly does!!

Put my daughter in and after 2 week's she's VERY HAPPY and the teachers appear to be very caring. So far I am truly happy with Miss Lovato and the teacher. I also really like the staff in general, always welcoming and regularly ask how they can help. I will report back in a few months for a more in depth review.

This school has great teachers who really care about their students. However, the principle micromanages them to the point of dysfunction!!!Ms Lovato is always yelling at someone for something. My son does not want to go to this school anymore because he is tired of seeing his teachers get yelled at.

The officer and Teachers have a good impatience. Today my son had little cough, the office telephone me and his teacher Ms. Howse also pay attention to about this. Thanks.
