Sanger Elementary School has been an exceptional experience for our family, particularly in terms of communication and its strong sense of community. The school's administration and staff excel at keeping parents informed and involved through consistent updates, newsletters, and prompt communication about both academic and extracurricular activities. This openness makes every parent feel engaged and valued as part of their child's educational journey.
Beyond communication, Sanger Elementary's community feel is truly special. The school fosters a warm, inclusive environment where families connect, collaborate, and support one another. Events and activities, whether academic, athletic, or social, create genuine opportunities for families to engage, making Sanger a place where both students and parents thrive. Its more than just a school; its a vibrant community where everyone works together for the success of each child. We're proud to be part of the Sanger Elementary family!

Our experience at Alex Sanger has been incredible. We started in Kindergarten in the dual language immersion program with no prior Spanish-language experience. Our daughter not only began learning Spanish much more quickly than we expected but also began to really enjoy it. She is now in the 2nd grade and routinely reads Spanish language books and watches some Disney movies in Spanish. My two years of high school Spanish were quickly passed by her in the 1st grade.
All of the teachers that she has had have been very dedicated to her (and her classmates') education. The administration has been quick to respond when we have had questions. The school has a lot of activities/events in an effort to keep the students and parents engaged.
If we had to do it all over again, we would absolutely utilize Alex Sanger (and specifically the dual language program) again!

We are two months into my daughter's first year at Sanger (Kindergarten) and she's enrolled in the dual-language program. She loves going to school and is learning so much. We love her teacher and the many other supporting educators she interacts with. Communication with the school and staff is very open and accessible, the principal even hosts a monthly coffee chat. So far, so good - hoping to enroll our youngest in PK3 next year!

It's hard to speak on everything because our kid has only been there a short time (and she is super little)...but so far so good. Here are the pros.
- Extremely diverse school (which is nice). Mix of kids from different neighborhoods. It feels fairly balanced.
- It goes from Prek3 to 8th grade, which is great so there are less transitions.
- It sits in a really nice neighborhood (multiple access points to get to the school too)
- The Admin staff (i.e. Principal, Assistant Principal, etc.) are visible, and that's a good thing. You can tell they are working. They help out with the car pool lane
- School Admin does communicate pretty good on most things
- There seem to be lots of clubs for kids to join.
- PTA seems fairly active, but not in an overbearing way.

We have been at Alex Sanger since pre-K 4, and my son is now in 3rd grade in the dual-language program. My daughter started in pre-K 4 last year and is now also in dual language. We have been very happy with all our teachers and the experience in general at the school has been great. I am glad to be a part of this community!

My two daughters have attended Alex Sanger Preparatory the smallest is in first grade and they have both excelled in their academics. They have enjoyed themselves at this school and the teachers are All Amazing! The school with the community are very involved and are always finding ways to improve student success and supporting teachers in many areas. Principal and Assistant Principal are very supportive and loving with students, staff, and teachers. This is a Great Preparatory school, I would say #1 in Dallas ISD for sure!

I have two children who are apart of the Sanger family. 10 & 13. My gratitude for the education provided by the teachers/staff has assisted my kids into flourishing with their grades and emotions. They are so happy. When you can have all of that positiveness effect your children it is an overall blessing. It takes a village and I feel this specific school does just this.

We are so happy with this school. As a parent of a 3rd grader in our 4th year at Sanger, weve been so pleased with every teacher experience weve had to date.
The dual-language program has been a fantastic asset for my child. The exposure to both English and Spanish has not only enhanced their language skills but has also fostered a deep appreciation for different cultures. The teachers are incredibly dedicated and passionate about their work, creating a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere.
I would highly recommend Sanger to any parent seeking a top-notch educational experience for their child. The combination of academic excellence, cultural immersion, and a supportive community makes this school truly exceptional.

Heres a draft of your review for Alex Sanger Preparatory:
We are now in our fourth year at Alex Sanger Preparatory, with our son currently in third grade, and we could not be happier with our choice. The dual language program is exceptional, and every teacher weve had has gone above and beyond for our child. The level of parent engagement and the PTAs support of the school are both outstanding. The sense of community here is incredible, and we are excited for our younger child to start at Alex Sanger next year. Highly recommend this school to any family!

I looked long and hard at the elementary schools in the area, as this is such an important decision, and decided on Alex Sanger for my son. Boy did I make the right choice. His experience has been nothing short of amazing. From his growth academically, to the support and engagement of the teachers and staff, we are are so please with this superior elementary school. Becoming a Sanger Stallion is a game changer!

Sanger is our neighborhood public school, and boy are we lucky! Our son is finishing up his kindergarten year at Alex Sanger, and we could not be happier. The administration is very involved and communicative. The teachers care. Sangers dual language program is one of the best in the district, if not the state. We are amazed at how much Spanish our son is learning! He loves school and is excited to go each morning. We are so happy with our little neighborhood school, and look forward to many more years here.

Administration is very proactive and does a nice job of supporting the teachers while still letting the parents feel heard. I would highly recommend this school.

I have 2 children here since Kinder and we lucked out with this school. The school is bilingual so this is a big plus for us. Our boy is going to 5th grade, and our girl to the 2nd grade. Our daughter is autistic and in the past year has improved dramatically - she can now read near her grade level, and learned to read and speak in English and Spanish! Our son is in TAG and got to travel to 2 robotic competitions, with their group placing in both of them! It's very easy to get involved as a parent, and the teachers keep in constant communication with us via technology or the good old fashion phone call. PTA is strong as well. We were pleasantly surprised it was named one of the top elementary schools in DFW! Our son got an offer to be transferred to a "magnet" school but we are staying!

She has thrived at Sanger and I have been impressed with all of the opportunities for afterschool activities for the kids. Super responsive teachers and administrators. The addition of middle school makes choosing Sanger easy.

We have been at Sanger for a year. My kids love their school and I love the principals the school upholds, the diverse, multi-cultural community and the teachers who give above and beyond for this little neighborhood school. A school which just received six out of six distinctions from the Texas Education Agency. Sanger was one of only six elementary schools in the entire Dallas ISD with this achievement. We love Sanger and highly recommend it.

Parent involvement is very impressive. The teachers and all staff from custodian to principal are attentive to their students. They show true compassion and eager to teach these kids with their heart and soul.
I love this school and am extremely happy with my decision to keep my children at this school. They have attended since Pre-K and now going to 4th grade. My 5th grader attended since Pre-K as well.

My daughter has been attending Alex Sanger for a year and a half now and we couldn't be happier! Prior to Sanger, she went to Lakewood Elementary where her outside of the box thinking and willingness to challenge teachers was not accepted. After countless parent/teacher/principal meetings there, we finally withdrew her and put her into Sanger. I had read the wonderful parent reviews and while a little reluctant to enroll her due to low GreatSchools rating, I was overall comfortable with my decision. They have been astoundingly accepting of my daughter and she was entered into the TAG program immediately. I have seen her grow to to be a great leader with an incredible heart. The majority of the teachers really take the time to get to know the kids for who they truly are. I can't speak enough good things about Mrs. Harris (3rd Grade)!! She has been a fabulous mentor and coach to my daughter to which I am forever grateful!!
Posted: December 9, 2014
The dual immersion program really works. My daughter is absorbing Spanish like a sponge. She wakes up every morning excited to go to school and comes home happy to report about her day. Her reading and writing skills are grown tremendously and we couldn't be more pleased.

Alex Sanger is a terrific neighborhood school with an amazing principal and staff and hard working PTA. My kids have made many wonderful friends and enjoy all sorts of activities from art club to choir to strings. No regrets at all for choosing this public school!

My children just completed their third year at Sanger, and it was great! The dual language program is wonderful. The PTA is strong and active. The teachers and principles really care. The learning garden is beautiful. The sports teams are winners. We really love our school, and can't wait for the next school year!

Sanger is awesome. As everyone else we too struggled with the decision to send our son to public school. He started Kindergarten in August 2013 and I kid you not when I say we have not looked back. The principal Mr. Martinez, his staff and the PTA have blown us away in terms of individual student attention, curriculum and overall pleasant culture in the school. Carpool is a breeze, students are addressed by their names, the facilities are clean, I know he is safe there and not even 7 months into the school year he reads and writes and most importantly loves going to school. There are 13 kids in his class; tell me where else you can still have that student to teacher ratio.

This a great school! The new principal and assistant principal are both energetic, down-to-earth and always available. The dual language program is excellent and I believe will prepare my english speaking kids for a global economy. The cultural diversity is vibrant and is one of the best qualities of this school. There are so many after school activities my kids have a hard time choosing between the available clubs: journalism, art, garden, choir, violin, sports, Destination Imagination, etc. My sons have easily made friends. The teachers are warm and creative. Parental involvement is welcomed and appreciated. Sanger Elem. is a secret gem in our neighborhood.

After trying a charter school in OakCliff twelve years ago I made the decision to bring my son home. My second child now seventeen has always been homeschooled. When we had our third we made the decision to try a public school and moved to accommodate that decision. What a great decision It has been. Sanger is darling! Our daughter is learning and growing and being loved by so many in this community. I too am impressed every time Mr. Martinez calls each child by name. The extracurricular activities and dual-language are just icing on the cake. After raising children for twenty years I know nothing will be perfect but, again have been so pleased in every way.

My daughter started kindergarten this year and was supposed to go to private school but we were unable to make the deadline and, as parents, were very reluctant and uneasy about public schools.... especially DISD public schools but Alex Sanger Elementary, the teachers, staff, PTA (which I am a part of), and overall community have exceeded our expectations and made us feel fantastic and secure in our daughter's safety, education, and well-being. Her teacher is wonderful about communicating curriculum and activities and allows me to be as involved as I want to be... it's even encouraged! The staff keeps the kids safe by locking entrances and buzzing in parents and standing with the children until a parent or approved guardian comes to pick them up from the line behind the teacher. Super safe, incredible teacher and staff, great curriculum, and outstanding school!

Alex Sanger is OUTSTANDING! My daughter has been there three years and she LOVES it! The teachers have been wonerful and Principal Martinez is helpful, caring and active on a daily basis. There is a large energetic parent body that works hard to make the school the best it can be. We are fortunate to have the ability to be able to send our daughter to any private school in Dallas but we choose to go to our neighborhood school and it has been the best decision we have EVER made! If you have a chance to go to Sanger DO IT! You will never regret it!

Alex Sanger has been WONDERFUL for my daughter!!! It has been a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for my daughter to grow and learn. The teachers are fantastic and Principal Martinez is a miracle maker! I could not be happier with Alex Sanger! The parents are involved and welcoming and the entire school community is a fantastic example of what public school education SHOULD be like in our state. THANK GOD for Alex Sanger and for Principal Martinez!

This is a great little gem in our neighborhood. My son has a teacher he adores and the principal knows him by name. It is truly a neighborhood school that feels like a big family. There is a winning basketball team, music, art, destination imagination...lots of enrichment opportunities. My husband and I are well rounded successful DISD graduates and wanted nothing less for our children.

My third graders elementary experience at Alex Sanger has been wonderful. I can't say enough good things about the teachers and staff. Communication between staff and parents is open, and the teachers are committed and caring. The classes are very small, the students are well behaved and challenged, academically and creatively. Sanger offers after school programs, so many in fact, that students are faced with choices! We have the garden, athletics, music, art, and science clubs! My favorite thing about Sanger is the community and we are fortunate to be a part of. I hope the families that we have grown to love will be in our lives for many years to come!

My granddaughter is a kindergartner at Sanger, and she LOVES it! She has a very nurturing and enthusiastic veteran teacher who has taught over 20 years in DISD. The entire staff--from the principal to the aides--has been friendly and supportive. Communication is great. We get daily phone messages and texts to know exactly what is happening. We've already had a parent-teacher conference the first 6 weeks, and the school has just had a fun-filled carnival that had many free activities so that all the students could attend. Sanger has only 4 kindergarten classes, whereas some neighborhood schools are much more crowded. Families have the choice of either all English classes or Spanish immersion. The music, art, library, and PE teachers are all energetic, happy people. We decided to try public school in the neighborhood on a trial basis, but our family is hooked! We are already looking forward to first grade at Sanger.

We got a transfer to Sanger specifically for the dual-language program. This is a great opportunity that many private school students don't get. My daughter love's it and our youngest can't wait to start. The new principal has inspired the faculty and the parents. Parent involvement is increasing steadily. I'm proud that our family is part of this school.
