terrible. absolutely terrible. now, i’ve only experienced 6th grade in this school, but that’s because i literally had to drop out because this school was ruining my mental health and i couldn’t take it anymore. i experienced tons of harassment on a day to day basis, and when i told teachers, they did NOTHING. a kid i know would constantly pick on me and swear at me; when i told my teacher AND politely asked them to stop, she did nothing. it was incredibly disrespectful and is the reason why i felt the need to literally resort to giving up.
the teachers at this school were literally allergic to making the education experience enjoyable, or atleast somewhat not dreadful. i was constantly overwhelmed with dealing with my poor mental health on top of constant schoolwork, which never made my experience any less stressful.

parents, if you’re reading this, please do not consider taking your kid to this school unless you are more than sure that their mental health is perfect. otherwise, this will just make it worse.

the only good part about this school from what i remember (i was dissociated the whole school year, i don’t remember much) is that the counselors were SO kind. they were understanding, they listened to what i had to say, and gave logical, helpful advice to my inquiries. they were patient, which i genuinely appreciate as someone who’s been constantly dismissed an unfortunate amount of times.

thank you for tuning into my yap session!!! i know these words might sound as if blown out of proportion (as thirteen year olds usually do), but im really not exaggerating. that’s how bad some of my experiences have been, which is really unfortunate.

i had to move schools because of this stupid, school, i got harrassed, rape threats, no one became my friend other than one, the teachers yell at you and are very senstive if you raise your voice, i was a new kid and the students told me to kill and cut myself when i asked to be their friend. they banned headphones in class even if its super loud, they dont care about special eds and if you are in the sped group students would make fun of you.

With a new principal this year, we’ve seen major improvement with teacher communication and engagement. We love this school and the teachers!! Sports programs are great and the coaches are dedicated and truly love what they do.

I love this school for my kids. They have a newer Principal, Mr. Booker, who's been there for a few years and he's great. The staff really seem to care about their students, both general Ed and Special Ed. We've gotten so much help from these educators and I'm extremely happy that we were re-zoned to this school, after my son's 6th grade year at another local middle school.

Anytime I have a question or concern, I'm able to contact staff without feeling weird or awkward, which really helps. The counselors are great, too. Overall, I genuinely appreciate everyone at this school.

Terrible, worst school I have ever been too, if you send your kid here you probably don't even care about them.

They offer a one-size-fits-all approach to education. There is no individualized learning here. There is no initiation to offer additional assistance to students who are struggling unless the parents fight for some extra assistance.

I am NOT impressed with this school at all. The teachers seem overwhelmed and confused. The communication is terrible unless they are passing something down from the district. With one of the teachers, we are lucky if she shows up to work! Oftentimes she takes off without any communication to her students or parents and the students show up to her class with no sub and no work to do. That is unacceptable!! The online platform is not user-friendly. There is no structure or consistency in the way they present work to the students so it makes it difficult for them to navigate. Some teachers are nice, but they seem to have too much on their plates with no effective leadership to rely upon. At this school, your child is just a number. The front office is clueless regarding everything I call about. If you want your child to succeed you will have to commit several hours per week staying on top of the teachers and administration. Everyone seems to be doing their own thing like this is a university! Middle students still require structure, consistency, and motivation. This school lacks in all of those areas. I will be looking at other options for next year.

This is absolutely the worst experience with a school I have ever had, and my 14 year is the one to suffer

Homework doesn't seem to exist. Needs to be more assignments/work and less lecturing.

I had the pleasure and luck of having a top notch education at Flour Bluff High School. Unfortunately for my step-son, he has not been able to attain a similar experience, while attending Ed Willkie Middle School. The teaching and testing of knowledge at EWMS seems weak and half-hearted at best. The students' benchmark scores leave much to be desired. If you want your child to be a head above average (at the very least), plan on supplementing your student's learning with additional homeschooling after hours.

This school so far has been awful. The whole 6th grade staff as well as the principal (knowles) and the assistant principal couldn't care less about the students. It takes your child failing three classes and the teacher from another class, one that they're actually passing, to contact the parent and inform the parent about it. If the teachers are so busy that they can't make a 2 minute phone call then they're in the wrong job. Teaching is more than just handing out papers in class. It goes beyond the classroom. If you see a student is struggling, you make an effort to find out why. You bring the parents in for a conference. You don't let that child suffer. Especially one who had straight As last quarter. These teachers let this student down. All three of them. And when I tried to contact the principal, no one bothered to call me back. Sorry excuse for an administration. Needless to say, I will be going to the district tomorrow about this matter.

I think this school could do a lot better. It's just okay. Some of the staff are great, but others just don't want to teach students, they seem to just like to talk about themselves and pick on kids. The coaches are awful at encouragement and positive feed back, as are most of the teachers. I try to discourage my children from playing sports for the school. They don't make any cuts for football, so there are too many kids playing. As a result, the kids themselves aren't important. I'm not saying they all need to pump my kids up, but once in awhile it would be nice to say something that isn't negative. I've had 2 kids there, a total of 5 years between them. It's not getting better.

We are new to the area and so far my boys are liking this school. The teachers are really great and I love the weekly progress reports. So, keep up the great work Ed Willkie!!!
