1. School lunch is over-priced and in small quantities.

2. Anti-intellectual climate. The focus is a lot more on just getting As, than encouraging a life-long love of learning. A number of teachers also turn a blind eye to cheating.

3. A number of teachers waste valuable classroom time by occasionally playing irrelevant TV shows and movies.

4. The group mentality is more encouraged than individual growth. Classes have a lot of group assignments, perhaps giving insight to the school's cheating problem on individual assignments.

5. It's a new school, devoid of many traditions and clubs.

6. It's a small school, with few languages taught, and less variety in class choices, in general.

7. Little to no AP classes. The school's focus is more on regionally recognized Dual Credit classes.

8. Too many "coach" teachers that tend to either be more interested in their sport(s) than the classes they teach, and/or show blatant favoritism towards selected athletes.

9. No orchestra program.

10. Lack of sufficient support for transfer students. They can easily slip through the cracks, here.

The bad outweighs the good. A lot of teachers may be "nice", but at the end of the day, it's really about what students can gain from taking a certain class.

Only Dual Credit and Honors classes get adequate homework. Time in regular classes primarily just passes by. It's fine if you just want a grade on a transcript, but not if you place more value on your time.

Sunnyvale High School has been exceptional in all aspects. From one of my children who has needed accommodations to another who has no problems with Honors level curriculum, the school has provided excellent instruction and has proved to be challenging for both children. Having seen the schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, I strongly recommend the schools and consider them excellent for preparing students for post high school education and life.

The teaching of this school is not so well. Students do not learn to independently think and work but instead, rely a lot on teachers for answers. They are used to study in a manner that works well for tests, but not so well for their own understanding. Classes are not very engaging. Students often find themselves feel lazy to work for the teaching materials are taught with lack of dedication and engaging techniques. This school worries me, as a student currently attending Sunnyvale High School, for I feel I cannot maximize my education and abilities.

This high school is state of the art, in a new facility, and has high student standards. The teachers and administrators put student success first.

Great school. Students are active and engaged in the classes. Parents are involved. This is the first year with a HS graduating class.
