The staff here is amazing. My kids are learning so much and are genuinely excited to go to school every day. The teachers are firm in the best way and hold the kids accountable while helping them grow into respectful, responsible students. I really appreciate how they teach a strong work ethic and independence, along with academics.

My daughter graduated from New Horizons Home School Academy a year ago, she is in college now and doing quite well. I attribute this to NHHSA, they have a staff that is friendly, helpful and care about their students. NHHSA has prepared my daughter and given her the tools she needed to succeed academically. I highly recommend New Horizons Home School Academy.

I have known Myrna, the Director for over 10 years. I have seen this school develop into three locations in El Paso. I have seen happy and successful students. Students learn to work independently, which will help them in life and in college. Students work at their pace so they can accelerate their learning or take additional time when they need it. This school requires the students to work 5 hours per day. Help is available to any student who needs it. Home-schooled students can come to the school two times a week. Ask all the questions you desire. The school is growing and available spaces for additional students is getting smaller, which is a testament to the many happy parents and students. The staff is also very pleasant and helpful. Parents and students get frequent progress reports so they always know how their student is doing. You do not find this level of parental engagement in public or other private schools.

Call Mrs. Boyer, visit her schools, you will like her schools.

Being at this school, I have experienced things no child should from being stalked by other students to being pushed into a depression by, again, other students. The teachers provided complain about the children in front of their faces and act as if they undertake extensive care of them 24/7 when in reality it's merely for roughly 5 hours. The students will use racial slang, profanity, and words that fall under the same umbrella during class time while the "teachers" don't arrange anything to discontinue it. While NHHSA likes to make itself seem like a sheltered environment, they represent completely the opposite. I have learned nothing from this school. I would NOT recommend this school to anyone if they would like to keep their mental health intact and healthy.

I was a student here and I was verbally abused by the "principal" when I was 13 after that I become depressed and isolated, still am at 18. I'd like to acknowledge the post from 2020 that said this is not a school but a business, they are not equipped to be working with kids especially do to the fact that both myself and my friends have had to worst experiences here that have affected us still after "graduation"

This school ia a joke! The owner/principal/instructor whatever you'd like to call her, protraits her self as a caring person and interested to help your child that just till they become an inconvenience to her. Dont you dare to question or ask something being done there because you'll get in trouble. It's easier for her to expel the kids instead of helping them, or accepting responsibility for her errors. That been said don't you dared to complain about a situation that occurred in a classroom. "Teachers" here never seem to know what happens with your kids work or if there's a problem. This isnt a school this is more of a business. She can pretend to know how to run a school but all she cares about is making her money! Either your part of her inner circle (which means you don't question her regardless if she is in the wrong) I'm glad my kids won't be attending there anymore for the money you pay they can go to a better school.

Children are given opportunities to express themselves through activities outside the core classes. Theatre, art, dance, piano, debate are a few of the classes that have helped my children express themselves outside of the norm.

My husband and I absolutely love this school. The attention that has been given to my children since they started at 3 years old is like no other school can offer. The small classrooms are perfect! The leaders and educators make each day exciting for my children. They are given a curriculum which allows them to express themselves. My children have never been held back due to age, they continue to learn and grow! NHHSA you rock!

Posted: February 11, 2020

Both my children have attended NHHSA since they were 3, now 6 & 8, and have always been giving an appropriate amount of homework.. it is enough to keep them motivated but not too much to take over their free time. They are both in extracurricular activities so this is much appreciated!

I felt the time my son spent there was a total waste of time and money. There are no teachers, none of them are certified, not even college degree. If a kid has a question, they just use their phones to search for the answer. Homework is not planned. Their goal is just to finish every textbook without looking at the content; nothing more than busy work. The principal seems like a very nice lady, but don't you dare to question or ask something being done there because you'll get in trouble. To the point that she has taken the arbitrary decision of expelling kids because a parent dared to complain about a situation that occurred in a classroom. She constantly threatens parents to "not accept work", "not accept credit", making kids go to summer school, among other things as if this was an accredited school. It is not, this is just a business. She can advise or guide parents on what she feels is best, but she has no authority whatsoever with regards your child's education. That is why it is home school.

The time my daughter spent there was an absolute waste. The principal is only out for money and control. The teachers are not certified and act more as baby sitters at a daycare. They spend more time dealing with crying babies than teaching the school age kids that are there to learn. All they give is tons of busy work without any form of direction. Don't waste your time or money. The staff is all family and close friends and there is huge favortism

The Director and staff are extraordinary and itÂ’s evident that they are dedicated to the success of each child that walks through their door. Wonderful school! My kids have loved coming to this school and have just blossomed here. The teachers are great and give the individual attention needed, staff is friendly and always willing to help. My son had struggled with ADHD, in public school they simply put him in special ed and refused to work with him any further, but once I brought him here he shined! They came up with a program that has done wonders for him. Very happy to have found this school.

I have recently graduated from NHHSA. As an Off-Campus student (Home Work Program). Although I was Home Schooled, this school provided me with all I needed to be able to learn in my own home. I was allowed as well, to come on-campus up to 2-3 days a week; if I needed any help on any subjects I couldn't do on my own. The teachers and staff are outstanding! They also open opportunities for students who need help and tutoring, and refer parents to gifted and experienced private tutors. What amazed me the most was the environment I experienced since the first time I entered the classroom. I saw powerful bonds between students and teachers; it was definitely a whole new world compared to Public School. Never did I see a student be mistreated by any of their peers, despite any of their imperfections. All students of all ages were kind and friendly to one another; Students struggling with disciplinary problems were addressed correctly, the staff truly did their best to see improvement in these students, unless they became a threat to the safety of the children in the classroom. Which of course is very understandable, they must provide a safe environment for all children; one that parents trust for their kids.
They provided a beautiful graduation as well, for home-schooled and on-campus students. It was a joy to see young and older graduate and receive their diplomas on stage.
In this school age nor disabilities matter, all students are equal.
Most importantly they are given individuality; NHHSA brings to sight the hidden gifts in each student.

This school changed my son's life! He was struggling just to get to school, every morning was a fight and we had multiple visits from the truancy officer. After several months of New Horizons, last year, he is disciplined, playing sports in public school, and brought his grades up from last year. I am happy to have found this school! The director is so involved in the education of students, she really does care. The teachers care and it made all the difference! I highly recommend both the classroom and the home study program.

I was so afraid to leave the public school system and thought that our son telling us every week that he's bored was just part of him being a kid. Not until we recently enrolled him in the NHHSA did we realize what it was like to witness your child absolutely blossom! He's respected for his individuality, stimulated creatively, nurtured socially and challenged academically. We are truly blessed to have found this hidden gem in El Paso. The independent learning infrastructure may not be for every child but wow when you take a GT child and let him or her push their capabilities rather than get sucked into the typical classroom routine where the bright kids are bored, unchallenged and unmotivated while the teacher is trying to get 33 other students to a level required to pass the STAARS test you see a complete transformation in their approach to learning and achieving academic success! We are truly grateful to the administrator and educators at NHHSA!

New Horizons Home School is the perfect fit for my nephew! Since enrolling this year, the personal attention and care Ms. Boyer and her staff have given Eddie has been invaluable. He is beginning to experience success for the first time in a long time. The care and attention the staff gives is an important element in the education process. Thank you New Horizons. New Horizons has been a very big blessing for our family. Having searched high and low for the perfect school, we finally found everything that we were looking for at NHHSA. We not only found a great administrator and great instructors, but also a place that would allow my child to be himself. We are extremely happy with New Horizons Home School Academy. Thank Ms. Boyer and A.J. and all of the wonderful staff!!

I want the best possible education for my children. The New Horizons Home School Academy offers skilled, engaging, and compassionate teachers. They allow my children to grow. They allow them to be stimulated by new ideas and ways of thinking. They give them a sense of accomplishment and encourage team spirit. These are all excellent lessons they need to learn in order to be successful adults. I m very proud of the school my children attend. I would definitely recommend New Horizons Home School Academy.

New Horizons changed my son's life. He has Asperger's and suffered from non-stop bullying in the public school system. New Horizons treats students with dignity and respect, and teaches the students not only academically, but behaviorally. They addressed the few problems I had immediately and with the utmost fairness to everyone involved. They are a shining example of how schools should be for the wellbeing of our children.

Honestly my experience with this school has been very wonderful!!! the staff is always very professional and very caring towards my son he is 9 going on ten and is very happy as a student there, i actually have a boy on the way and am excited to say that he will be attending this school as soon as he is potty trained =) i would recommend this school to any parent who is looking for a school that cares about a students academics and their individual personalities.

My two kids have been attending New Horizons Home School for 6 years. I have found the school to be excellent academically, fair in disciplinary matters, and great in their sets of values and their ability to keep the needs of the kids in mind. I would take my children nowhere else! Where other schools have failed New Horizons has excelled, good job everybody!

NHHSA does its utmost to serve the individual needs of each of its students, even disciplinary cases. However, for the welfare of all families concerned, there is always a reasonable line that must be drawn, and NHHSA does so with its policy on illicit drug use while attending the campus. No NHHSA student has ever been required to study off-campus except where illicit drug use or threat to the safety or well-being of other on-campus students is concerned. We are disappointed when we have to do so, but we must protect the integrity of our school and all students in our care. NHHSA does, however, appreciate your feedback.

I concur with the other parents on this so call school. I have been very displeased with my experience with New Horizons Home School Academy. As a parent I feel it is my right to ask questions and come to a resolution when it involves the education and well being of my child, but asking questions only seems to leads to problems. When dealing with an issue that concerns my child's education, I feel the school has handled my concerns unprofessionally and without a solution. This school is run more like a family business rather than a school for children. Sadly their priories and unprofessional ways of handling things has affected many children and their families.

In order for a school to be successful, the administration, teachers, parents, students and support staff must work as a team. Principals must work with the staff to make school a welcoming place for all students and their families, sadly this is not the case at New Horizons Home School Academy.

This school's method of working with students that have "disciplinary problems" as described on their website is to actually dismiss, expel or move the student to another program when they have a disciplinary issue at the parent's expense, without truly working with the student to improve his/her discipline. Also, students are given study material and are left to work on it on their own, while they are sitting in a warehouse with climate/temperature problems, turned into a "classroom" environment and the "teacher's" way of assisting a student is to refer to a book or the Internet and tell the student to read about the answer, without taking the time to really assist him/her.
