Probably not the best time to leave a review as I feel very discouraged about our school system. In short the state has taken it over which is not a good thing! They have taken away anything fun to encourage the kids to want to stay in school. I had one child tell me they hate school now! Yesterday was decision day for my senior. Since our school does not participate in a presentation day where a presenter comes to give a scholarship we had to do it on decision day. It was a complete joke! I don't even know why they have this day music was loud kids running around everywhere and absolutely no one listening to the presentation of each senior or the presentation of the scholarship. I'm very disappointed and I'm afraid it's going to be a long road to recover from what's happening in our school. So many people have fought so hard to make things better in the school system and I feel like we're taking 10 steps backwards. All of the work that all of the people have done in the past seems to have been for nothing!

This school does not care for students wellbeing. My children went here for years, and were relentlessly bullied by the other kids without repercussions once. If you value your childrens mental health, do not send them here.

I noticed that there are kids there that are doing drugs, and I just wanted to bring awareness. This school isn't good because they don't have much diversity, they only accept white kids, or if they want to, they only accept people who looks pretty. They only accept other people if they are smart, or athletic. This school isn't okay, and they should improve this. The kids are very rude to my daughter, and the counselor aren't doing anything to help. Wouldn't recommend.

A -2 as far as teaching and building up our students a ten for adult babysitting
Posted: October 1, 2019
They tell the kids look it up on utube ! Really
Posted: October 1, 2019
Can't even get a counselor to call me back after four weeks i've been up there twice
Posted: October 1, 2019
They won't (or don't care ) how my child feels
Posted: October 1, 2019
Change my son schedule after two weeks . They took him out of the classes he likes and put him in classes that he has no friends in and the teachers are not helping him
Posted: October 1, 2019
My child is dyslexic. Which apparently they don't care because after two years of classes they're done with dyslexic . Won't help him any more
Posted: October 1, 2019
My child just got hit in the face yesterday twice by the same kid . The kid apparently said he just couldn't help it had to do it . Will find out tomorrow when I go to the office . What I want to know to is where was the teacher ???

No, they only do anything when you go to the school and get angry

Favoritism is heavy, beware of this before enrolling
Posted: August 19, 2019
It gives children an unrealistic view of the world. In this school if you are from certain families you are treated well, otherwise you are treated badly
Posted: August 19, 2019
If you are not involved for whatever reason, they treat your children badly
Posted: August 19, 2019
Unfortunately I am disappointed that there are still schools like this, with such favoritism and unfair treatment. Disappointing, be aware!!!
Posted: August 14, 2019
Over-all, it is good! They need to work on the students fighting all the time though.

It is a terrible idea to blend a middle school and high school. The two buildings connect by a walk way. Middle school students must go into the high school for certain classes & lunch. The buses are also blended age groups also. So for example, your 12 year old 6th grader will be on the bus with 17-18 year olds. The two buildings have one principal which was enough at first, but the school has grown so much they need a principal at both the middle school & high school. They also need a nurse at both buildings & more security personnel for the entire campus. The teachers are like any other school, some great, some terrible. The kids are...kidssome great & some little jerks in the making. Weve had one lockdown in two years, which I guess is pretty good?? Super scary for my kiddo & me. There do seem to be a lot of fights on a weekly basis. Overall, I dont think I would recommend Benbrook Middle-High to anyone.

Many of the teachers use the Remind App to communicate with parents about homework & activities.

In the two years we have been at this school we have had some great teachers and we have had some bad ones too. Math & theater departments need some serious help. Great choir director, fabulous 7th grade Spanish teacher and a great art teacher.

I havent seen much implemented to develop character & integrity. From what my student has said the kids could definitely use some character building and integrity.
Posted: February 28, 2019
Very responsive principal (Mr. Penland), but the school has grown so much that they really need a principal at the middle school building AND the high school. Assistant principals at middle school are good too, but they all need more support. They also need more security personnel & a nurse at each building.

We havent had many issues with bullying; mostly just typical mean girl stuff & middle school politics.

The school pushes for you to get info from the doctor for 504 status - then nothing. Most teachers were clueless as to the 504 status of my son.

There is a zero tolerance for bullying. The uniforms seem to help immensely. I do feel they recognize if child is being a bully they give the child support to stop bullying and discuss why they felt that was ok. You can discipline a bully, but it only makes them even more angry. They trace to what has this child feeling so helpless he has to protect himself by bullying others.

The best school by far! I would give this school 100 stars if possible. Best ever school!!

They don't overwhelm children with homework. They know family time is just as important as homework time. Many projects involve parents and family to participate.
Posted: June 3, 2017
They communicate w parents to effectively find a way to
Teach your child. They are focused on the child as much as they are the class. The class is only as strong as the child who is struggling. They focus to keep all children from struggling.

Everything in this school exudes kindness and treat others w respect. They truly bring a good ethical standard to children.

There are no words for how amazing this schools Admin and other non teachers. They all strive for both children and parents to feel successes

My son is autistic and they go above and beyond his ARD. Most schools try to trim down something every ARD. THEY HAVE NEVER TAKEN SERVICES AWAY!
