This will be the last year my kids attend SST. Weve been with this school for about 56 years, but it has become more of a business than an educational environment. The administration seems to prioritize increasing student enrollment, and therefore profit, over providing a quality education.
Most of the teachers are wonderful and genuinely care about their students. Unfortunately, they are placed in a difficult position because the schools decisions make effective teaching nearly impossible. Having around 35 students in a single classroom with no teacher assistant is a poor decision and reflects badly on how the school is managed.
I originally chose SST because I was concerned about CCISDs ratings, but at this point, I believe CCISD offers a better education than SST. If class size isnt a concern for you and youre mainly focused on strong instruction in English, math, and science, then SST might still work. However, the overall quality of teaching is extremely low simply because teachers are overwhelmed by the number of students.
Each year, enrollment increases while the quality of education noticeably declines, and its clear this is driven by profit rather than student success. This will be our final year at SST, and honestly, were not even sure well stay until the end of the school year if things continue to get worse.
For anyone reading this as a review of SST, I would not recommend the school. Class sizes keep growing, the quality of education keeps dropping, and I strongly suggest talking with your child often to make sure theyre truly doing okay.

Lack of communication and lack of resources for students and teachers alike. The class sizes average around 28 students and those rooms are too small to comfortably fit all of those students. The support staff hardly support your students. Theres too many students with accommodations that again, the school does not have enough resources to accommodate. The district only cares about building new buildings and looking pretty on the outside.

This school is terrible. Sure the academics and curriculum are great but its not worth the cost of your mental health. This school isnt anti bully. As much as they claim they are they do nothing to stop bullying. One of my favorite teachers were literally driven out of the school because of bullying by OTHER STAFF. I went here for 9 years and was driven out by sexual harassment and bullying, nothing was done about it. They make the biggest deals out of the smallest things but when theres a genuine issue it really seems like they just dont care. I was picked on and bullied all the way through kindergarten to 8th grade. Im now left with serious issues that require medication and therapy. Its really not worth it, theres schools out there that are just as good and will actually care.

We have been very happy here. I was a little concerned at first about the vast variety of ages in one building. I have found since that this is a fantastic thing. The older students are very well behaved and polite. They set a great example for my boys. Although we only see them in passing they are always smiling, helping teachers carry their things in the afternoons, holding open doors for younger students, etc. The older students also act as safety patrol during carpool. The teachers are some of the most qualified I have ever met and seem to really love their jobs. The office staff, nurse, and librarian all know us and our children by name. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment. I could go on but you get the point.
