I’ll start by saying this school left me with lasting mental, and emotional trauma . Staff, teachers, administrators, and even school police often acted like bullies, no better than the kids they were supposed to guide. This wasn’t normal discipline; it was humiliating and embarrassing students over common mistakes.
During my time there the treatment only got worse. Several teachers and staff made me feel bullied instead of supported, and one coach told me to “go back to where I came from.” Language like that is unacceptable and harmful, no matter the intent.
The experience showed me that a degree doesn’t equal compassion. For kids who are already struggling but still try to be kind, the lack of support and understanding only deepened the pain. This school failed me in ways I’m still working through today. I have since left, and I hope things have changed for the students there now.

Adkins is a great school to go to when you are in middle school. My experience was, I had no friends I was totally new to this school and my other friends went to a different school. I went to Adkins because my home was closer so I couldn’t see my friends again. The people in Adkins made me feel welcomed and happy. All though there is loads of drama in school, most people don’t take it personal and become physical with one and other. They care about us, are health and are education. Some teachers are not very nice but there are lots of nice and respectful teachers like Ms.Nix the 6th grade math teacher. I hope this helps!

No idea if bullying occurs at this school or not.

The school just does. Okay. They just do.

Aren't kids supposed to learn this in high school?

Posted: February 12, 2017

It is not the school fault that students can't develop respect, integrity, compassion, and determination.

Posted: February 12, 2017

They're teachers. That's their job, and they do it well.

Posted: February 12, 2017

The teachers explain the work, so it (the homework) is understandable and the student can do it.

It is good, not great. The time flew by.
