In an area with such strong schools, I would not recommend LPS Elementary School. With the highest teacher:student ratio of 1:25 compared to other schools in the area, and limited resources for academic and extracurricular development opportunities, young learners are not given the attention or support they need.

We love this school for our kids and would highly recommend it! There are so many opportunity for parent involvement and the staff is so friendly. I have one student who take speech here and he has progressed so much. They are also very good at following his 504 plan. I feel like both of my kids are getting a wonderful education here.

We love it here. The education my children are receiving is top notch. The parental
Involvement is phenomenal. We have been more than happy with the teachers and administrators. One of my children is special need and their needs have been met every step of the way. My children love it there and so do we!

My child attended LPS from Kinder to 4th grade. He has special needs, which required an IEP. The IEP was never followed.
He was bullied constantly in his class, to which we would have meetings with administration, and their resolution was to place my child in a different classroom(without my consent). It went all downhill after that. He came home every single day in tears and begging not to go back. When we had a meeting to remedy this, I was told "he can deal with it."
They denied him the use of the restroom, nurse, etc.
He was on the honor roll the entire time he was there and never had one incident of not being on his best behavior.
He was physically bullied as well(punched in the face, rocks thrown at him) and I wasn't contacted. At all.
Horrible administration and teachers that seem to change hands every few weeks. Out of the 60 plus kids he started Kinder with, only 5 remain. I think that speaks volumes!

Weak leadership over the Student Services, which includes Special Education. Worked here for a very short period due to lack of support, materials, supplies and curriculum. Disorganized, ego-centric leaders, and complete chaos. If your child is special needs, this is NOT the school you want to enroll them in. Violations of federal guidelines, not following IEPs, issues with servicing students. Special Education teachers beware! Do not apply here! They need to be audited by a Federal agency. Parents, hire an ARD advocate to represent your child.

i would not recommend going to this school for many reasons

1 they have respect for the students at the school

2 I friend who is a cheerleader saw rouches in the bleachers

3 almost all teachers are constantly rude

4 They put my grade on wissle training

5 there's this lady at lunch who threatens to give kids hearing damage

6 they don't care about the students well being

7 you get dress coded for dumb reasons

8 at lunch we are not allowed to use the bathroom

Leadership has gone downhill in just the last couple of years. Teachers are leaving by the dozens. The administration is abysmal. For example, when a middle school math teacher left mid-year last year, she was replaced by a special ed teachers' aid who had never before taught any subject in a classroom setting, let alone middle school mathematics. The kids' math scores plummeted, and when the principal was questioned about his decision, he blamed the children. Bottom line - the leadership at Leadership is non-existent.

Leadership Prep is a charter school in Frisco ISD, providing mediocre education compared to either private or public schools in the area. It lacks the rigor and the community of some of the best public schools but has the bureaucracy and artificial rules typically associated with public schools. Unform code is strict, but teachers could not care less about students' progress - especially students with disabilities or learning differences.

One of the teachers could care so little about student progress, that teacher provided no feedback to students at all, sometimes ironically providing test answers inadvertently (or maybe not!) before tests. The other teacher, who I recall was previously at Frisco ISD, had no instructional skills, nor interest in helping students master the material, and was weeks late grading assignments. Leadership was unresponsive to emails. All they cared about was meeting some technical requirements from TEA; paperwork rules this school - learning does not.

This school might work for certain kinds of students whose parents basically teach them at home, or supervise them endlessly. Students can therefore turn in assignments on time (which matters in this school much more than their actual learning!).

Such a breath of fresh air after a school with so much bullying. People here are kind and welcoming. Much better academics with caring teachers. Best school in Frisco.

Posted: December 22, 2018

Obviously not. They promise the world and then get rude when you expect 10% of what they promise. Accommodations for special needs kids? Not even close. Isn't that required for the state to provide funding? But that would also require separation of church and state too. Hmmm......

Posted: December 22, 2018

Please. Don't even get me started with how many people have left over this one. They advertise this but when it doesn't work out, the blame is placed on the student and their parents.

Posted: December 22, 2018

This is a biggie. Bullying is almost encouraged with the honor code/system. That IS their discipline. You are to turn in anyone who breaks the honor code, but you have no privacy for doing so. Even if they don't know for sure, peer grading is so prevalent that you will be "punished" by your peers for speaking out. Project Based Learning with groups is also a big problem with bullying. Because the school is smaller but the class sizes are bigger in many cases, it feels like it's a pressure cooker for bullying.

Posted: December 22, 2018

At first, I was like everyone else touting about how the grass was greener at LPS. I even stubbornly wouldn't give up because it meant admitting I'd made a mistake in my choice for my children. At some point, though, it's time to cut your losses and move on. I wish we had left sooner. I feel like we lost years that we can't get back. My kids, who were once students who sailed through public school easily, came back struggling and jaded. Now that they are back, though, they are enjoying the regular curriculum. Yes, project-based is great for some parts of classes and I see that in public school being used. But trying to force things that aren't a good fit for Pbl and group settings is ridiculous. Plus the teachers are not all qualified in ANY subject area. Teachers should have a good grip on the English language and have experience teaching their subject area or teaching period!

Posted: December 22, 2018

If you consider sending work home that the student hasn't been taught and then expect the parent to help them figure it out as effective, then yes. Otherwise NO. They have an adopted curriculum but my child has never seen the book/online material for the adopted curriculum and we've only seen worksheets printed out from online sights that we could print out at home.

I can honestly say it is easy to tell the difference between public school students and LPS students. Core values are driven home and mean something to LPS students.

Posted: April 12, 2018

The core values of this school are by far the best I have seen. I am proud to say that my student is a leader and has learned to speak up and be heard and present herself in a manner that causes her to shine in a crowd.

Posted: April 12, 2018

LPS has a small student population, which provides the ability for every student to be on a first name basis with the faculty. Parents are welcomed anytime during the day and programs have been established to address special needs or learning differences.

Posted: April 12, 2018

LPS does not tolerate bullying nor do they allow students who pose a physical or mental threat to other students or create a poor learning environment for other students to remain at the school. There are strict guidelines that are followed to ensure safety and that students are treated equally with respect and dignity and grace.

Posted: April 12, 2018

Homework is intended to reiterate what the student has learned in class and provide practice of the new skill. I think LPS has the right approach in this area and the amount of homework falls within acceptable guidelines.

Posted: April 12, 2018

I feel that the teachers at LPS demonstrate quality leadership skills while empowering student to share their thoughts and ideas.

Posted: April 12, 2018

I am a strong advocate for LPS, my student has attended since day 1 and I am proud of what she has accomplished, her focus and continued desire to learn. I feel with LPS that my student is safe, is challenged and excited to go to school every day. How many parents can say they have NEVER had to remind their student about homework or ask them to do it? I can!!!

Posted: April 2, 2018

The kids get leadership taught to them overtly in some classes and then in other classes leadership skills are woven in.

Posted: April 2, 2018

I have seen the administration deal with several difficult issues and have been satisfied with the outcome.

Posted: April 2, 2018

Posted: April 2, 2018

I have heard that the school deals with things discreetly but swiftly from my children.

Posted: April 2, 2018

We have really enjoyed our time at LPS this year and look forward to next year!

Posted: April 2, 2018

Fair load and kids are given a schedule that helps them to break it up as needed.

Posted: April 2, 2018

All the teachers have been very helpful for both of my students in 5th and 8th grades.

Posted: April 2, 2018

LPS develops strong character in students empowering them to make good decisions and prepare for their future.

Posted: April 2, 2018

Leadership at LPS is the best in North Texas.

Posted: April 2, 2018

My child has Dyslexia-they provide clear communication and accommodation for him.

Posted: April 2, 2018

If there is any bullying at the school it will be dealt with swiftly. These kids wear uniforms so kids have no visible socioeconomic signals and the student population is one of the most diverse in N. Texas.

Posted: April 2, 2018

Kids are given a fair amount of homework.

Posted: April 2, 2018

Teachers at LPS are fantastic and well rounded.

Posted: April 2, 2018

5 out of 5 stars-if your child gets a chance to attend they are very fortunate. There is a waiting list to get in.

Project learning is used at this school which teaches the kids how to work effectively in teams. This type of learning prepares them for college and today's job market.

Our daughter was threatened along with 3 other girls.. and we were told they could move the girls to another class.. excuse me...

Posted: March 30, 2018

all they care about if filling the seats.. quality is gone out the window and you have elem teachers running high school with no idea how to deal with high school issues..

Posted: March 30, 2018

This school is project based learning in every way. if we dont get it youll blend in with the others and be left behind.

Posted: March 30, 2018

this use to be the case but now all they care about is filling seats..

Posted: March 30, 2018

Our kids get homework but similar to classwork given very little instruction..

Posted: March 30, 2018

some are great.. but most dont teach.. they put you in groups and expect the students to figure it out with very little teaching going on.

Posted: March 30, 2018

Like several other parents we are very unhappy with LPS this year.. they have really gone to a fill the seat mentality with 30 students in most of our kids classes (this is a private charter school) you expect better. Behavior of students is far from acceptable and the principal is a great business leader but should not be around kids.. period.. I along with several parents are just trying to get our kids to finish this year with LPS and move on.. and as the previous parent wrote students are leaving in drovers.. our kids have hatted this school from day 1.. and as excited my wife and I were.. not all charter schools are created equal to say the least.. We have even gone as high as the School Administrator and told its a school issue deal with them.. really..

I was so excited for our kids to start this school in August 2017. We pulled our 5th and 8th grader out of their school and moved them at the beginning of the year. I wish I could say this has been a positive experience but nothing could be further from the truth. To be upfront, I cannot speak for anything prior to 5th grade. There are times when our kids have come home crying because they don't like this school. They don't like the teachers, fellow students or curriculum. They are both excellent students and feel this year has been a waste. In some classes, the students rule the classroom and the teachers either can't or won't do anything. Other classes have teachers that talk about students, and their grades, to other students. I am not sure if teachers are afraid of the students or just don't care. There are known issues and nothing is being done. I know life is not perfect, teachers and kids are mean, life is mean. We should not shelter our children from these issues but this goes above and beyond. I have heard comments teachers have made to their students and I was appalled. I have spoken to other parents and they are experiencing the same issues. One grade specifically has had the most problems. I know of quite a few students in one grade that have left LPS and others are continuing to do so.
Perhaps this was my own misunderstanding but after our initial meeting, I was under the impression that there would be a lot of opportunities for children that had been in GT and pre-AP classes. I have not seen that. If you don't have the quality to back it up then please don't use it as a selling point.
As I stated in the beginning, I had such high hopes when we started. I have to say it has been an utter disappointment.

I have always had good experience with teachers. Teachers here take good care of kids, provide right information to parents and support kids as needed. However Principal (Elementary school) is rude, snappy and needs to learn some manners. When a parent asks a question, least she could do is provide parent with proper information instead of being snappy, arrogant and throw her weight around!

Its a JOKE. They bully the student, sometimes even parents. To answer your question. NO NO NO and NO.

Posted: November 9, 2017

Its a joke. The school name has Leadership in it. I challenge the school to tell the world that, if they have a SINGLE PROGRAM on so called "LEADERSHIP" ?? its just a tag line for this school. First of all the teachers need to learn on how to teach and how to respond to parents queries? They don't respond to parents emails and my student says they are RUDE and I have personally seen it. They sued to have parent teacher conference 5 years ago, where you actually meet the teacher in person and talk about your student. for past 4 years, it is like student present you about his/her progress at home or school. What the heck is that ? This school staff, teachers and Principal (especially secondary) think that they are running a company.... not a SCHOOL.

Posted: November 9, 2017

I am not even sure, they know student names and who they are and what each student lows and highs. NO.

Posted: November 9, 2017

NO. Read my previous answers and sometimes even teachers bully students.

Posted: November 9, 2017

HORRIBLE so far. this is rolling down like a rock.

Posted: November 9, 2017

My student has been attending since firs grade. I admit it was great for the 1st, 2nd grade (teachers were great then), then it started like rolling down from top. 3rd was ok. 4th and 5th useless. 6th totally bad. Now 7th, like horror story. for example: Take Math, they are supposed to use Carnegie math text book but no, math teacher uses some internet printed home work sheets and jumps from topic 1 to topic 8 and never follows the book. It is very hard to see what is she thinking and how to teach my student to do homework. All other teachers follow same. On top of that, They started a program called PBL (project based learning). If you ask me what it is, i say it is crap. for ex: 7th grade science, they did a project on how much dirt is needed for a garden?? .... The school name is Leadership. But I see no leaders there. You might think I am still here with this. HOPE. hoping that the days like first and second grade and teachers like them comes back..... NOPE. This is the Last year.....

Posted: November 9, 2017

I strongly believe that these teachers have no experience in real teaching (except 1st and 2nd grade - to 6 years ago). None of them follow guidelines on homework or classwork on what to use(book) ?? most of them use internet printouts for homework. They have their own set of rules. I am sure most of them are not even qualified.

Academics rather than sports are the focus. Because it is a school that parents self-select into, the culture is in large part shaped by academically oriented families. That is one part of the charter school experience that is often overlooked: parents who value academics inculcate those values into their kids who then shape the student culture.

While I would like to see more and better after school offerings, I cannot complain too much. When it comes to the school's raison d'etre, education, Leadership Prep is unmatched in the North Dallas area.

The classes are small (I believe 75 students per grade broken into three classes each) so there is a sense of community among students. Uniforms are mandatory, helping to counteract cliques. My son's experience is much more pleasant than was mine in larger schools.

The atmosphere is fun but demanding. The teachers are involved and enthusiastic. Mrs. Holland is a phenomenal principal who helps set a positive tone where ethics, academics, and leadership are valued and reinforced.

The feedback I receive is specific enough that I, as a parent, can easily act on it to improve performance at home. My ability to tailor my son's home learning to remedy areas needing improvement has been easy because of the quality of this feedback.

Finally, the school is unusually diverse. My son is developing close friendships with students from many cultures and backgrounds. Based on our discussions, it is clear that this wide array of backgrounds is teaching him how to understand points of view outside of his own and we have had fascinating conversations as a result.

I cannot imagine having my son in any other school. He loves going there each morning and is enthusiastic about learning. As a patient, that is satisfying.

My son just completed Kindergarten there & we are so impressed with the knowledge he has gained since attending LPS. He loves going to school & looks forward to learning. The 7 Steps they follow & the leadership aspect of this school is outstanding! I have no doubt that my children will become responsible adults that will make a difference in this world. Yes there will be a 7th grade for the 2014-5 school year & the principal does not hire her best friends as another reviewer stated. The lottery admission is in place so everyone has a fair chance at attending this fine institution.

It's a good school. My two kids are there since the first year of the school started. It gets better and better each year. Teachers and staff are awesome. School will have 7th grade, but may not have upper grade in the future. (not sure yet) However, it's important for to built up the foundation and prepare to go to bigger school.

My son attends LPS. He is in 1st grade. I cannot praise the teachers enough. He has excelled and grown up so much over the year. I'm quite shocked to see the displeasure from the other reviews. There WILL be 7th grade next year! Thanks to our board and our landlord. If the parents are that disappointed maybe they should withdraw and go to another school!!! That would open a spot for one of the hundreds of kiddos on the wait list!!!

We enrolled out son, it went to lottery. We ONLY saw for 2014 20+ KG and two 6th graders accepted. It upsets me that if they know these are the open slots they shouldn't make everyone else go through the process.

The school waited half an year to announce they will not move forward with a 7th grade. Poor leadership on planning. The school teaching standards are going down as the Principal only hires her best friends as new teachers weather they deserve the job or not.

I used to agree with every good review. However, the school as cancelled 7th grade with no warning. My child was ready to continue through high school but that will not be the case. The school and the board have let down 50 students and their families. Shame on you LPS for not standing by your teachings!

LPS started in 2011 and it has been rocking since then. My husband and I am so impressed by the teachers and their hard work and the Principal is great. Ms Holland is so good with the kids. Anyone looking for a good school n Frisco , I will highly recommend them L P S.

Our daughter will be in first grade this fall. She was out quite a bit last fall due to minor surgery. We were worried she would fall behind. However Mrs. Richardson her kindergarten teacher worked with her after school to help her catch up. We are extremely impressed with the dedication from the school staff. Blessed to be a part of it!

I can not say enough positive things about this school. The teachers (this year it was Ms. Reynolds & Ms. Shaffer 3rd Grade) are awesome, with many years experience, Principle Ms. Holland and staff (so many great ones to name all) are awesome as well. It's like having your child in a elite private school without the huge tuition cost ever year. My child has been attending since they opened and every year they are growing, expanding and being creative in theirs in improving on their already great curriculum and school. I highly recommend you attend an open house..
