My experience with Wayside Middle School has been so far, so good. We recently moved into the new building this year- it's cool with its white walls, clear glass, and blue here and there for Wayside - and I can say that my teachers and counselors, especially the ones who have been teaching for quite a few years, are amazing in their personality and patience. Like any teacher should, if a kid has a genuine question about their work, they'll guide you. School IDs are mandatory for students, which obviously helps adults find intruders. They have stairs designated for up and down to help traffic. Okay, quite a few kids cuss, but there are still genuinely kind people you can find (kids and teacher alike), so just wisely choose which conversations and friends you want to be involved in. Pretty much all adults know when to get angry, from what I've seen, so they can't be called "mean." Overall, it's a matter of the people you meet and rules you are under that makes your experience at Wayside, or at any other school, beneficial and awesome for you and your legal guardians.

Overall, this is just your typical school, nothing special about it, but my classmates from my experience (may change for future students) don't seem that eager to learn, but the teachers are very helpful and provide the minimum resources for what students need to use and learn. Advanced classes only go a bit faster in the work than on-level classes, except for advanced math. People can be a bit tough though, and some people just hate everything in their life, so they just go out of their way to bully others. All in all, I believe that this school is okay for those who just need their children to have the bare minimum, so I am kind of mixed with this school.

This school has atrocious communication, no emotional support for students, and ridiculously high expectations for children their age.
These students are expected to log onto canvas every day and keep up with assignments to the same degree that I was expected to while I was getting a bachelors degree in nursing.

Volleyball coaches have favorites! Looking back at last weeks tryouts, seeing my daughters bruises knees and elbows from diving to every ball. Strong serves and better passes than others, her groin the car crying because they picked someone else thats not even as half as good as her just broke me. Even the ones that made the cut was shocked and surprised. She trained hard for this the whole summer, joining camps and leagues, even getting signed for club. Why even hold a tryout when they already know who they want way before it even started?! Favoritism at its finest!

Awesome school! They have so many opportunities to allow your child to be involved, and great ways to stay connected! We have three kiddos and two of which, are there now. We could not be happier!

The school is the worst school my kids ever been to the teachers refuse to help my child when he asked a question about his work they say figure it out I've already explained to you once. They count him absent even though he's there and send me truancy letters. The kids at the school cuss a lot. It does not have all the security measures like my kids last school did to ensure that I shooter cannot come as easily.

We've always been told that this is THE middle school to go to in the area and it has definitely held up to be true! This is our first year with a middle-schooler, so our fears were through the roof. The way this school welcomes 6th graders and their parents is top notch. Guiding the 6th graders through their first week really gave our child the boost of confidence he needed to get used to middle school. He has loved this school from day one. The teachers have been amazing and have kept us informed on either a daily or weekly basis. The structure throughout the school day has given my 6th grader comfort. The band teachers are wonderful. The office staff is extremely kind and welcoming. The new principal is always in the mix of things, shaking hands and introducing himself. This school has been outstanding!

This school is not a good environment for kids. I have seen a teacher throw a stapler at a kid and have seen a marker thrown both by a TEACHER! And nothing was done about it. Kids cuss all of the time and teachers are not ever very explanatory on projects or homework and it is really hard for me to learn when they don't teach the work to us!

We have one daughter that's finishing up her first year at Wayside, and in her and our eyes it's been a good year. She has really enjoyed the new experience of having several teachers. All her teachers have made themselves available for us to talk too, when we've needed to. The principle is also very professional, and the kids all say she's nice but tough. Wayside is a great school, and I'd recommend it to anyone that moves in to this area.
