The AP Ana Cordero is far away from being professional!! She is a pride woman that thinks that she is superior than everyone else. She will not talk to you like an adult she will fight you because She loves to fight parents. Worse Assistant Principal Ever!!!

We found the school to be inviting. Many administrative changes throughout the years. The mood of the school has remained. This is a pubnlic school with a private school feeling. Proud to call this our school.

My child was given “review” sheets, which I enjoyed because I got to see what the teachers lessons were for the day. I also received graded assignments on a weekly basis which also had to be signed and returned.

I’ve had great experiences with teachers taking the time to help both my children. My son struggled with math but is now flourishing tremendously!

For new and prospective transfer parents :

My family recently transferred our kids to Cielo Vista Elementary School and all I can say is this school is amazing! From the Principal to the Assistant Principal and down the line. I can say that they have been nothing but professional and understanding to my family and I. Since the first day we got here I could tell this school was motivated to instruct my children.

Also, while visiting my children during their lunch break or any after school activity I could see that the CV staff didn't tolerate disruptive poor behavior. I appreciated that discipline and respect was valued at this school. 

BUT, I strongly disagree with the previous post. ALL faculty and staff have been wonderful. Im surprised the parent above did not have the same experience as we did because many other parents and I believe it is one of the best schools in the district. Now by no means am I trying to disregard the parents feelings but the claims just don’t seem to add up to me.

Believe me, the Principal and AP and staff are greatly appreciated by CV parents. Just come talk to them for a few minutes and see what I’m talking about. Thank you Cielo Vista for all you do!

The principal is very open about what they are doing and why they are doing it. We attend all the PTA meetings and the many school events and see her present.

I was very happy to find out that this school was the GT Magnet school. I see the teacher interact with all the students and she seems to enjoy her students. Friends say her expectations are high and fair. I do not have any experience with Special Education but the male teacher is seen on campus.

Our children have been very happy at Cielo Vista. The older children have had GREAT success at the middle school and were very prepared for the rigor of Junior High. The faculty has been there for many years and it was sad to see many teachers retire after 30 - 40 years. That says a lot for the school environment. The new teachers fit in and worked very hard to get my student ready for success.

We had such high hopes based on the recommendations we got for Cielo Vista. Unfortunately, it’s not the school it used to be. I cannot recommend this school to anyone who values the environment and wants their children in a positive atmosphere. We tried to solve our problems via the teachers and staff. Instead, these ‘trusted adults’ cornered our kids and got mad at them calling their parents bad names and threatening our kids. Teachers were routinely on their cell phones instead of teaching. The lunch monitors threaten the kids. The PE teachers took away the playground until the kids “get it and start to behave,” but there was no plan to teach proper behavior. Kids, all ages, are held out of school movies for being spirited without prior notice. Homework doesn’t add value. The entire Q1 is review of what the kids should know and Q4 is review for the STAR tests, so minimal teaching is done. We had a teacher prep the kids for a district assessment while holding the assessment because she had skipped that subject the entire quarter. I could go on, but I think the point is made. In the end, it’s about experience and while some have a great one - we did not and have left this school.

Homework has little value as it’s rarely graded with feedback. Some assignments are turned in and never seen again. So many students are behind that the challenges are lacking for the kids that are not. Lots of busy work & coloring at ALL grades.

Negative words and attitudes abound. From the PE teachers telling the kids routinely that they’re the worst class in the history of the school to the academic teachers on their phones during class time.

The teachers yell at the kids, the AP has a bias towards some kids, and the overall negativity shows a lack of regard for the students. They are not learning these skills from the teachers or staff.

Principal has very little control over the teachers and none over her assistant principal. Numerous district level complaints, from various parents, were put in against the AP in the 2017-18 year because of that.

The Assistant Principal is in charge of this program & yet she’s the biggest bully in the school both to students & parents. One example, she’d walk into the lunchroom and start yelling at all the kids and then give them silent lunch because they’re the bullies. She was also witnessed yelling at parents on the front grass.

Cielo Vista has been a wonderful learning and all around great experience. There is no other school I would want to send my child to. Cielo Vista is close knit family oriented school. Everyone from facility to the students and their families know eachother and watch out for one another. Cielo Vista is number one in my book!

We have very strong leadership starting at the top with Mrs. McMillan and Mrs. Cordero which trickles down throughout the school. You can tell how everyone truly cares about the kids.

I very much appreciate that bullying is not tolerated at Cielo Vista. I know that when my child goes to school he is safe and if something were to arise it would be taken care if in a timely manner.

Cielo Vista has changed tremendously. Preference in teachers and students have become a big issue.Now it's not about educating kids it's about what teachers are preferred and not how effective their teaching is. Principal is not engaged with parents only when it's convenient for her. Assistant principal is a joke 1st year as a assistant principal has no people skills rude and very unpleasant attitude. School has no discipline or consequences for bad behavior everything is swept under the carpet with no resolution. I would not recommend this school.

I had my boys in another school the first year we got here..let's say not a good experience for either of them nor I with the staff. That being said we decided to switch.. Best decision we did for our boys because then they started thriving and wanting to go to school again! Ceiling Vista is the BEST school in El Paso! The teachers and office staff are FABULOUS! If we ever get stationed there again I would take my boys there in a heart beat!!

This school is excellent! The administration, teachers and staff are professional and caring. The school is academically motivated and has zero tolerance for poor behavior. I believe it is one of the best schools in the district without a doubt.

Cielo Vista Elementary is a great school with excellent teachers. Although I wish I can say that about the principal. She needs to be involved and caring with the students and Hispanic parents. Never have I seen her monitor lunch or call students by their name. Students also need to be issued text books for math, not a recycled paper that looks like a index card. Concerned parent.

Being a military family, all I could say about Cielo Vista School is its one of the best school in the district.

This is one of the best schools in the district. My son began attending this school since last year (Pre-K) in the PPCD program. His teachers' Ms. Chris and Ms. White worked with my son and I am happy to say that he has gone into regular education and started Kindergarten today! I am also very happy that there are many military families in our school. If you are looking into schools to put your children into while you are stationed here in El Paso, this is your school! Military has their own PTA to assist military families. Many activities for all families whether military or not. We are very pleased with the level of professionalism from all the staff as well as the principal Mrs. Mcmillan. I know that my son will be in good hands and will be getting the education that he deserves. Now it's up to us as the parents to do our part! Go Cielo Vista Bobcats!!!

I pulled my children from this school. They did not accommodate for my autistic child. They treated my kids with disdain when they complained of bullying. In fact they had one of my kids tell the principal what the bullies did to her with the bullies in the same room! There were one or two outstanding teachers, but the rest were unapproachable. I do not recommend this school. They sweep things under the rug to maintain their facade.

My child started out in special education, though love and patience Chris Lerma, Terry Ramirez and Liz Dorantes-Armindarez turned my child's life around. He is now in the gifted and talented program and straight A honor role. Mrs. Charolette Quintana performs her position as prinicipal seamlessly. She seems to have a relationship wth every single child and parent and I love seeing her interact with the kids. So proud to have little Bobcats. We are consistantly informed of our child's progress concerning academics and behavior. Cristina Diaz is the best school counselor I have met. She considers children's life as a whole, from what adjustments are being made at home as well as in the classroom. CV is the best.

This is a very good school in a quiet neighborhood. I think a good school must have a good leader. The principal is strict but friendly. The teachers and staff are very helpful. Lots of parents get involved in school activities. My kids and I love this school. I hope when my kids go to 6th grade, the school would be the same quality with this school. I heard lots of negative things about McArthur Elem. They need to learn from Cielo Vista Elem.

This school rocks! The Principal is awesome and very personable. She knows the kids by name. After school is out you might catch her out front throwing a football to the kids. The office staff is AMAZING and the ladies in the cafeteria are loving and so kind. The grounds are safe and spotless. This is the best school my children have ever attended! My boys have received excellent instruction, excelled nonstop all year, have lots of friends and are happy. I'm picky with their education and can't afford private school but this is the next best thing and we're all looking forward to another awesome year ! When I drop my boys off and watch them go into Cielo Vista I thank God they are in a safe and clean place where they will be properly cared for and well educated by the best teachers in El Paso. S. I had a child attend the Kinder-Collaborative as special needs student. Too bad EPISD does not implement Inclusion like this in their system overall. I have felt that this school must be one of the better schools in EPISD. We have experienced 3 elementary schools and 2 middle schools in EPISD and Cielo Vista is NOT the "norm". It is a school in which to be proud!
