Teacher makes child do bubble letters instead of phonics worksheets or educational work

Posted: October 20, 2017

Kids are constantly talking dirty and doing bad things like throwing rocks without telling parents or punishment.

Posted: October 20, 2017

Made complaint about teacher and was told “ I’ll handle it” but nothing was done.

Overall not great. I feel like if it wasn’t for the Social skills gained through public school I would homeschool.

Posted: October 20, 2017

Child given homework, was not graded the whole week then once I complained was just given checks instead of actually looking over it.

Posted: September 30, 2017

Very responsive and cooperative. I do wish a weekly progress email was done.

Posted: September 30, 2017

I appreciate the weekly College Spirit day! Encouraging children to want more beyond high school. Goal setting from the beginning is awesome!

I emailed the principal at the start of the year considering strong teacher placement. She responded almost immediately. It was greatly appreciated considering the how busy that time of year is.
I especially loved the online registration capabilities!! Made it painless. Communication via email or an Open House BEFORE school started could have been better. Allowing for early school supply delivery, teacher assignment, and class room/cafeteria orientation. The school doesn't keep a current FB page some other local schools. It has been a fantastic resource in the past for our military family.

They offer dual language classes at least for 2nd grade.

Posted: September 30, 2017

We're new to the school have no personal experience to offer.

Posted: September 30, 2017

My child has the appropriate amount of homework. Weekly vocabulary words along with a spelling test. To include Math and writing.

A+ Thanks to the Hughey Team. Exemplary Professionals

At the wnd of the year we received letters home with threats that a
Any student late or disrespectful would get detention. My daughter was slapped by a girl and she was never in lunch detention. My daughter's class was noisy and none of them were ever in Lunch detention.

The principal us rude and yells at parents.

Posted: August 7, 2017

They don't stop it. The staff are bullies too. The taechers are too. Kids are told to shut up.

Posted: August 7, 2017

Awful. Registration here is a nightmare. Long waiting lines. They blame the computers are slow but yet nothing is do e to switch the cmputers or send IT

Posted: August 7, 2017

My daughter's homework was always drills and practice which research shows doesnt add value.

Posted: August 7, 2017

My daughter use to love math but her teacher did such a poor job she started hating it because the teacher was boring.

Hughey is overall a good school. They teach your kid right, but they do have some flaws. The staff is kinda rude and they don't do much about bullying.A lot of the teachers are pretty great and will teach your kid a lot!Just pick up that bullying and staff :D

Posted: March 30, 2017

The school does put some bullying posters and teachers do too. They do act by talking to the kid, but suspending... not so much.Kids have gotten in fights at this school and all they get is a little talk? :T

Posted: March 30, 2017

There are some great teachers that will teach your kid properly but also have some fun in the class :D

Posted: March 30, 2017

Posted: March 30, 2017

Some of the staff don't know how to properly discipline the kids.I reported that my child was getting bullied and all they did was talk to the kid.No strong punishment!

Posted: March 30, 2017

The teachers are okay. They'll teach your kids at an average point. They don't go far with higher subjects though.

Posted: March 30, 2017

The homework is alright. Most of the time, it's super easy but other times it's really hard.

My family is military and this is the worst school BY FAR that my children have ever attended. They lost my kindergartner twice, and even went as far as to blame her for it (her teacher was actually at fault for sending her to the wrong spot to be picked up). They promise things they don't deliver, only offer maybe 5 minuets for your kids to eat lunch, and refuse to let children use the restrooms. Personally I can't wait to get all 4 of my children out of EPISD. This is the only school that made me want to pull my children out and home school them.

This school is horrendous to say the least. The security is terrible for the safety of the students. Tge administration is entirely Inept at the jobs they are assigned.

This school is great! There may be some pretty tough teachers throughout the grade levels at this school in my opinion if you are a student but you will soon realize that they give great discipline and are actually pretty good teachers, while there are also great kind and caring teachers at this school. They are working on expanding this school renovating it, making it more secure, and a better school! Which is great! The GT program along all the grade levels is amazing and leaves you prepared for middle school, I have had a wonderful experience at this school as a former student I highly recommend it and hope it continues to improve.

Okay I have to say after reading the reviews last year for this school I had my reservations about weather or not I wanted to send my 6 yr old to school here.I took a shot in the dark and rolled with it.SHE LOVED IT!!She took to her teacher better than she did any other teacher she had had so far ,granted she had attended pre-k before attending hughey but still amazingly enough she go though kindergarten with out being bully teased or any serious matter this last year. Her teacher was very attentive to how she did in class(class size of about 20-22). Any time they had an upcoming event I received a note from the teacher , homework 4 days a week , she loved it like I said.Im however am not a fan of some of the other children that attend this school , just the lack of respect for another.
