Green Elementary School

My child attended here from K-3, with the first 2 years being excellent. This school, like another parent noted, has deteriorated greatly. I would no longer recommend any child attend here. Our last year there was so bad that we left before the semester was over to attend private school.

There are so many problems that I don't know where to start. The school is currently overrun with transfer students that should be attending Johnson. It has been a huge problem affecting everything from Drop off/Pick up to the quality of the PTA (which used to be one of the best, but is now run by transfer parents). Administration doesn't care and do not follow up on anything. The VP and Principal side with bullies and aggressors, and try to cover up everything from sexual harassment to bullying to death threats. Teachers have been assaulted by students. The bullying is as bad as inner city schools and includes threats of violence. Special needs students are not treated well, do not receive appropriate supports, and are denied transfer requests. Morale amongst the staff and teachers is understandably low. There has been teacher turnover.

It's sad, but what was once a great school is no longer that.

They are ineffective, but without it being their fault. There's teachers that would like to do better by their students, but the support from administration isn't there.

No, because the administration lies to cover up scandals and issues. How can you teach what you do not practice?

Unfortunately, this school has changed considerably in the last two years. They are overcrowded and the demographics have spiraled. It seems as if they are taking in a lot of students from out of district.

I have highly recommended this school in the past and now I warn people to look for other options. They are very disorganized, the school is filthy - even my child complains of how dirty the bathrooms always are. Some good teachers and front office nice, but they are up against a lot of challenges.

Parking and pick up are a mess and they won't do anything about it. My son has had lice 2x and no notification is sent (which I believe is standard protocol now, but come on!) Communication with parents is lacking, complaints to the principle and VP are unaddressed, the list goes on.

If you want quality education for your child and a place where you can feel proud of sending your child to - this is definitely not the school.

My child went to Dr. Green for two years, and he loved it, and so do I. It has wonderful teachers, very commitment, the class size is about 17 children, and students have a lot of attention. The area where the school is located is amazing (like private), with a wonderful view of the mountains, so clean and beautiful. My son had an experience of life going to this school; he learned English so quickly and made a lot of good friends. Teachers make a lot emphasis in reading, also in the other subjects I saw important development. Students had daily PE class, and had orchestra for fifth graders.
