We've been at his school since they opened. Our First child went from 1-12. She graduated top 10, received an appointment and is now at the United States Airforce Academy in Colorado. She loved her teachers her friends and was an extremely hard worker. What we've learned over the years is that no school is for everyone. You have issues everywhere. What works for you? Try it out, it's free and if it doesn't work out go to the next school on your list. Since the education is free and it runs on a lottery entrance is not based on ability but you have to earn your grades and do the work because they are working towards college preparation. You should alaways get to know the teachers and become partners with them because school is not a daycare. Discipline is stressed to try and provide safe environment . Our youngest had speech delay and yes they were not providing the best services so we accompanied that with outside services we paid for. He is one of the top 10 percent. The funding for the Iltexas is a mix of private money and goverment, Each school's PTO has the job to drive hard on donations and ours has been successful at raising the funds for a lot of improvements we would not have the budget for like the shade awnings on driveline, for example and many other things. No one is obligated to pay a dime but somehow the community comes together. A lot of people complain but I would read the complaints closely and figure out if its the school, the parent or the student and then figure out what's best for you. I have seen so many students succeed here and get scholarships. They are engaged and involved and that makes them stand out.

So so far so good. The teachers and everyone seem good and the girls are always happy to go. I hope to see more current reviews. Everything is from 2021 and under and that should not reflect reviews for the current year.

Great school. My 2 kids goes to this school and they both love going to school and their teachers. They are learning English, Spanish and Chinese! They also very focus on studentsÂ’ character and leadership skills. Good communication between teachers and parents. I am so glad my kids can go to this school.

It was 2/5,for me.I used to be a student at this school, and it was not really great for me.Teachers can be rude, and complain about how low they get paid, some are so unprofessional ,stealing a student's food and eating it!! The internet barely works for this schools we have trouble doing class work. The learning environment is not really good, students are't motivated by the things teachers teach.Classes are rushed, so if you don't understand something you'll fail then without having time to understand .

Teachers look tired and unmotivated to even work.

Horrible! I pulled my youngest out the first year, and the older 2, within 2 years! No communication from the top to the bottom, too much homework, and have no idea how to teach a child with special needs. Some teachers are not qualified to teach the subjects they are teaching. If you have a child on the gifted side, they are not encouraged, but are forced to basically slow their roll for the underachievers. Imagine your child spending 2 hours on homework, his teacher losing it, and your kid gets a zero. My kid's had to learn real fast to always make a copy of any work turned in! The other major problem is that you have to buy very specific cheaply made uniform, with horribly high price tags, $ 1,500.00 for my 3 kids. A long with them wanting donations and money every day for something. You have to pay a high fee to use their cheap Chromebooks, but they never ever can manage to get you a refund owed to you!

This is hands down the worst school i have ever dealt with, from lack of communication with administration. A pto fundraisor every day they want you to donate donate ,donate, with the amount of money they ask for they should be employing professors, the class structure is skewed from What they tell parents , they tout 17 second transition times for classes which is absurd, we went to one meeting with administration and they talked about how the could boost school revenue , they are a sub par charter school if they want better $$$ they need to perform , they are working to keep the government minority funding by keeping violent under performing kids in class while higher performing kids who want to learn are brought down to par levels in classes, your children will never excell in these schools they will be held to a standard of mediocrity, remember every child is an individual and doesnt fit in a strictly distinct shape or mold.... nuture your children to excell and not be defined by standard lackluster practices to keep government dollars paying to keep doors open ....... take it from a 18 year tenured college professor in child physcology.........I know

We kept our kids in until 1st grade took them out to home school, they did not have homework

Posted: November 8, 2019

They are overwhelmed , under educated and are not privy to appropriate teaching tecniques

Posted: November 8, 2019

They are a charter school that has upwards of 75 plus percent minority students, i found that the students in my kids classes were disrupti ve, behind on learning, and overwhelming the teachers , they were referreeing the childrren fighting more than teaching when i observed the 4 different classes

Posted: November 8, 2019

From top to bottom there is a lapse in communication, the only person that knows how to organize/communicate is the lady at the front desk who seems to do everyones job

Posted: November 8, 2019

Exceptional students from the start are made to slow down to the lowest achievrr in the class , so that child doesnt feel bad or left behind,, i saw several students in kindergarten helping other students because they were frustrated that they were too slow but the teacher didnt have time due to a student kicking another student in the face ( yes i witnessed this)

Posted: November 8, 2019

I received calls every week for 6 months about one or the other of my kids being injured kick in the head , pinched till it bled, kicked in the stomach. Hit in the eye, kicked in the groin, hit in the head with a rock, the list goes on , i have never seen a school that takes agressive behavior so lightly and this was in kindergarten.... the students come from violent backgrounds they dont have stable family or homes and no stability and they are of a violent nature.

If I could put zero stars I would! We have lived in three states and this school is the worst "educational" system I have encountered. The staff has a huge ego like they are an elite Harvard, when they really are the Walmart of schools. I agree with another reviewer about it being a prison! Actually, No... I disagree... prisoners have more rights, eat better, and are treated more fairly than these kids are. The teachers have frequent power trips and are constantly punishing for really trivial things. The children aren't even allowed to talk during lunch and they lose recess almost every day. They engage in harsh physical punishment in the form of forced exercise (to the point that my kids came home with aches and pains) for simple things like talking in class or not finishing an assignment. My kids have come home crying because the teachers told them they were the worst class they have ever had! They have been called useless and disorganized. Don't send your kids here!! They will be emotionally scarred and stressed out!

Unorganized school. Lack of communication that begins with the assistant principal. I spoke with the Assistant Principal regarding my child and was brushed off in a condescending manner.

Bad communication beginning with the assistant principal.

Posted: February 10, 2017

My daughter has had issues with bullying and I do not think it's addressed strongly enough with the kids and their parents.

Posted: February 10, 2017

Every child has a different learning style. Where some can sit thru class others are often bored or distracted. Some can read a text whereas others are more visual and hands on.

Posted: February 10, 2017

I do not have a lot of interaction with the leadership unless there's a problem.

Posted: February 10, 2017

I do like this about the school encouraging positive personality traits.

Posted: February 10, 2017

There is a lack of communication with parents. Gets frustrating when there's no response and has to be escalated to the principal.

Posted: February 10, 2017

There is too much homework using paper and then technology.....a lot to keep up with after a jammed packed school day.

Posted: February 10, 2017

I love the concept however, their classes sizes are large and can be distracting. Communication is all over the place or lacking; the use of technology is unorganized. Over emphasis on assessment testing which there is no value add. Very fast paced and homework every night - can be stressful for some kids. My daughter is begging me to change schools.

My children have attended ILTexas GES from day one. They are a new school, so there are many kinks that are still being worked out. However, you will not find another school community like it. It is a community of teachers and parents that truly care about the students. It is aimed at preparing students for advanced work, so I would not recommend sending a student who struggles in the general classroom setting. If you are willing to work through the growth process and be part of something wonderful, this is the school for you.

I fell in love with the idea of this school. The execution however, fell short. There was a lot of homework that seemed to be "busy work" and was not value added for some of the children. By the end of the first year, I had hoped my child would be able to speak some Spanish and he was able to understand some words, but could not respond to "Hola, como estas?", which I thought was basic. There is quite a bit of turnover in staff which leads to disruptions in learning. In short, this school may not be a good fit for all kids. The language learning is an amazing bonus but should not be the primary focus of any child's education. If you have a good school that your child is attending, I would not change their school. If your options are limited, then this school may work.

My kids have been here since day one. My son has had to struggle just to keep his grades up so I wouldn't recommended this school for a child in Special Education. The Special Education staff seems like they don't have things in order. I've gotten so many emails contacting me about other peoples children and their information. I also hate the driveline! The lines have gotten better this year but you have to time when you get there or you may not be able to get in the line at all and wrap around a few times depending which side you choose to go on. Then if your late be ready to sit in line even longer so you can get off the lot and pay $10.00 to get your kid. I also hate when the weather is bad I don't have the option of picking my kids up from the front door. Umbrellas only do so much. They have to walk a pretty good distance to get to where they can be picked up then stand there in the rain or snow until you get there. The only option you have is to get there about 1 1/2 hour early to beat the long lines.

My daughter loves her school (this will be her second year In ILT) They have great teachers who are committed to teach their students, and the principal is a great example of leadership by leading by example. My daughter is also enjoying learning English, Spanish and Chinese!
