Working with the students at this school has been a genuinely positive experience. They are, at their core, still kids; full of energy and learning how to navigate responsibilities, but they are also kind, capable, and responsive to instruction. When given clear expectations and support, they rise to the occasion and show a willingness to grow.
One of the most encouraging aspects of this campus is the inclusive environment among students, especially in mixed-grade and ethnically diverse classes. Older students often model leadership and maturity, while younger students bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm. Many students step naturally into leadership roles, like upcoming International Festival, setting a strong example for their peers both academically and socially.
Beyond the classroom, there are meaningful opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop new skills through clubs and programs. These experiences help them build confidence, discover passions, and connect with others in positive ways. Overall, the students contribute to a school culture that is supportive and full of potential.

While a review will never adequately represent what it is like to be at ILTexas, I can assure those that are interested that the students are in a safe and caring environment. There are numerous opportunities for students, and while some seemingly normal things may not be here, there are so many things that students can get involved with from athletics, to JROTC, clubs and various organizations. The focus is college prep, which may not be for everyone, however, if the students and parents are prepared for that, then there are numerous courses and opportunities for them. Language is another focus which makes the school and charter stand out and it is something that all students participate in. Overall, it's a safe environment for students to learn and often times learn some things outside of the norm of most schools. It is not for every student, but the ones that come in and buy-in have a solid foundation to move on into their next stage of life.

In my experience working at ILTexas GHS, I have found the school to be a place the provides students and staff opportunities to flourish in a variety of programs and activities. We have programs that allows students to travel overseas to study, compete in a wide range of athletics/competitions, a strong JROTC program, oppurtunities to interact with people in government, the chance to serve the community, and a rigorous course load. Our students take 10 classes per year and have the opportunity to push themselves in AP level courses.

The best thing about our school is our ASP program that provides every student with guidance from a qualified professional to help them navigate the college application process. This is so big for our students as it helps them find the schools that best fit them and will provide them with the most amount of aid/scholarships. This is probably the number 1 reason to come to our school.

Our students are extremely well behaved and fights do not occur on our campus. Bullying is at a near minimal level with staff addressing each situation timely. This allows our students to feel safe when at school and to focus on their academics, clubs, and the normal stressing of being a teenager.

Our school is very diverse with students attending from countries all over South East Asia and beyond. This allows our students to get an understanding of cultures and people from around the globe and helps to expand their horizons. It helps them develop empathy and how to work with people.

Just a great place to be.

I can’t say enough good things about ILTexas Garland HS. What really sets this school apart is the environment—it’s very structured and the students are well-disciplined, but it never feels cold. The staff and admin actually take the time to learn every student’s name, which makes such a huge difference in how the kids feel coming to school. The teachers are clearly passionate and go above and beyond to provide a high-quality education.

Also, the international aspect is incredible. My child is learning alongside students from Korea, China, Vietnam, and many other backgrounds. It’s not just about academics; they are gaining a real-world understanding of different cultures and growing into global leaders. It’s a fantastic place if you want a supportive yet challenging environment.

This school stands out as an exceptional place for well-rounded education, offering students far more than the standard academic experience. One of its strongest features is the emphasis on multilingual learning, with three languages taught as part of the curriculum. This not only builds strong communication skills but also prepares students for a globalized world.

Beyond academics, the school provides a rich selection of extracurricular opportunities. Its music program is both engaging and well-supported, giving students the chance to explore creativity and develop their talents. The sports programs are equally impressive, promoting teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness through a variety of athletic options.

Academically, the school truly excels with its wide range of AP-level classes. These courses challenge students and help them build the skills and confidence needed for college success. The availability of multiple AP options shows a clear commitment to academic rigor and student achievement.

Overall, this school creates a balanced environment where students can thrive intellectually, creatively, and physically. It’s an excellent choice for families looking for a comprehensive education that prepares students for both higher education and life beyond the classroom.

There is a lot of good things happening at this school, the teaching quality is high and the students are staff are friendly. I do think that there needs to be more diverse courses and more opportunities for dual credit. There are other high schools where the students are graduating a year early, with an associates degree. I think there should be a slight adjustment in course selection availability to give those kinds of opportunities to the students here. Also, this building is TOO SMALL for the amount of classes here, an additional wing is NEEDED.

ILTexas Garland has a strong foundation when it comes to its students and mission. The kids are respectful, driven, and reflect the positive values the school aims to instill. The campus culture promotes leadership and character development, which is a major plus.

However, the work-life balance for staff is extremely challenging. Expectations can be overwhelming, and it often feels difficult to maintain a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal time.

Academically, the learning experience is average and has room for growth. While students are capable, the rigor and consistency could be improved to better challenge them. Programs like Eagle Academy, while well-intentioned, sometimes allow students to pass without fully mastering the material, which impacts overall accountability.

Overall, ILTexas Garland has great students and a meaningful mission, but improvements are needed in staff support, academic rigor, and accountability systems to truly reach its full potential.

My daughter graduated from ILTexas Garland High School in 2024, and she loved her experiences there throughout all 4 years. We’ve had a great experience. The smaller size means teachers and staff really know the students, and you can tell they genuinely care.

The teachers and admins are supportive, approachable, and always willing to help. It feels like a close-knit community where students are encouraged to do their best and be themselves. Some teachers provide tutoring after school every day so students can master their subjects.

The school also provides many extra-curriculum opportunities, my daughter was active in leadership roles JROTC program, honor societies, and Interact Club. She has gained valuable leadership experiences during high school, which she carries into her college career.

My daughter graduated from ILT Garland High School in 2025. One of its greatest strengths is its small class sizes, which allow teachers to give each student the attention they need and provide daily tutoring.

What really stands out is the level of support throughout the entire school. From the administration to the teachers, everyone is genuinely invested in helping students grow and achieve their goals. The classrooms are academically challenging, which I appreciate, but what makes the difference is the strong support system in place to help students rise to those challenges.

I've been a teacher at this school for many years! I have enjoyed the classes I teach and I love my students. Our campus is a unique, vibrant Title 1 community where local students and international peers from China, South Korea, and Vietnam learn side-by-side. This diversity is celebrated through a wide range of extracurriculars, including our MCJROTC program, Korean Club, Spanish Club, and our annual International Festival.

We are deeply committed to academic excellence and student support, offering approximately 18 different AP courses to challenge our learners. To ensure every student has the opportunity for success, we host a Homework Academy session every day after school for extra accountability and guidance.

Above all, we emphasize servant leadership. We live by our motto, 'Others Before Self,' and work hard to foster an environment where students grow into compassionate, global leaders. Whether it's through the Art Club, Computer Science Club, or even our Scare Club, there is truly a place for everyone here to belong and thrive.

There are several AP classes students are allowed to take in order to challenge their academic career. The amount of oppertunities at this schools are provides beyond the classroom! Our campus specifically hosts our annual Service Expo we invite local community organizations to present to our students the importance of collaboration and service. Another notable annual events we have is our International Festivals, where students are able to express and learn about different cultural backgrounds! Overall, I would say ILTexas is a great place for students to challenge themselves academically while exploring new oppertunities outside the classroom!

I cannot rate the SPED services as I was never in need of them. However, both of my students graduated from this school. We were originally from a small town. I love that it is a small town feel within a big city area. This campus has a very tight knit community with lots of family engagement that truly feels like a family. Not to mention that its international focus celebrates culture and diversity and provides opportunities overseas and via the international student community. We are so happy to be a GHS Eagle Alumni family.

(Be on time, Be responsible, and Be respectful in everything you say and do) Every student learns the value of leadership and humility for a future in an international society setting. Our SpEd department is top notch and provides all students with loads of support. The commitment to inclusion is particularly commendable. The school cultivates a rigorous academic program that challenges students while also catering to diverse learning styles. Our faculty is a remarkable group of educators committed to their profession and passionate. Safety is a top priority here creating a secure environment where students commonly feel safe and comfortable leading to higher confidence. Family involvement is another cornerstone of ILTexas Garland's success. As an educator, I am constantly amazed and blown away by the level of effort and success I witness daily from these young individuals.

We have been part of this school community for 10 years now, enrolling both of our children since kindergarten. As parents, we truly appreciate everything the school does to support its students.

All of the teachers my children have had genuinely care about both their learning and their safety. The Eagle Academy system has been especially reassuring for us as parents—we don’t have to constantly worry about whether homework is being completed at home. The school ensures that students stay on track with their assignments and provides additional support (EA) when needed. It’s an amazing system that truly helps kids learn and succeed at school.

Now that my older one is in high school, she especially enjoys the Mentor Program. It gives her the opportunity to connect with international students from Asia, learn about different cultures, and build meaningful relationships. The mentor events organized by the school create a welcoming and engaging environment for both international and local students. The school leadership is outstanding, and we are very grateful for their dedication. This school is doing a wonderful job preparing students for college and helping them grow into future leaders.

As an ex-student, I would never recommend anyone to go here unless they had a death wish. First of all, the school staff DON'T CARE about you, they just want you to pass all of your classes just so you don't have to stay after school to do MORE work, eagle academy is USELESS, the only reason why students pass is to not have to stay back, they cheat so much that they DONT learn a thing! 2. If you can't go to school one day, you have to write them a very very detailed email as into why you can't go to school, if they don't find it perfect they'll decline it and you still have to go to school, if you don't show up they'll call everyone in your phone book! If you're not in town, they don't care they'll still want you coming to school, if you're sick or in the hospital THEY WON'T CARE. 3. AP classes are so limited that students that most students have limited schools to get into, like I get it the school gives out great opportunities for kids to get scholarships in different universities and colleges, but what about the other kids that don't want to study that? Like culinary, meteorology, or ever mechanics? Kids don't get taught that at ILT, they mostly get taught the more "Important" stuff like law and other leadership based jobs that nobody wants! 4. The students are HORRIBLE here, yeah having international kids here is a good thing, but when it comes to the kids that live here, there's racism EVERYWHERE you walk. The internationals will get bullied a lot, if you defend them you'll get called slurs too! And what does the staff do? NOTHING. that's why I would NEVER recommend this school to ANYONE.

My child continues to be challenged academically in an environment that supports celebration of effort. The teachers care and want the students to genuinely grow and develop. They have helped my daughter continue to develop her strengths. She continues to develop and prosper with the Chinese learning component, high academics. What excites me most is what is in store for her with the ASP program. She will surely have several options toward higher learning in terms of university level. I feel my daughter is safe daily and cared for beyond just a name on a spreadsheet. Thank you to the teachers, coaches, counselors, and admin that support her.

Its so bad I had to drop out. I only went for two years and I had to go to a psychiatrist by the end of it. The students are horrible and the teachers do nothing about it. I've been threatened, in the office more than once for bullying and harassment, I've been shoved and had rumors spread about me, and guess what? None of those kids ever got reprimanded. I still had to see them in class or be around them, I felt so unsafe I had to leave. I was breaking down every night man. The school doesn't care about your students the school cares about appearances. They're strict with work to the point of forcing you to stay until late in the day to make you work on a missing assignment, they don't care if you have work or family problems, if you miss you'll be expelled. Now lets talk about favoritism in teachers. Some teachers and students have inappropriate relationships with teachers, texting and getting away with things, while others get the short end of the stick. this school sucks.

My daughter attended this school for three years and entered Nursing at UT.
I have sent 2 of my children to different public schools.
I'm very happy with ILTexas.
There may be some deficiencies, but there are enough advantages to offset the deficiencies.
It's an especially nice thing not only to learn a foreign language but also to make foreign friends.
The school offers a variety of activities and events.

This school is classic window dressing. Promise the moon - elegant words and visions. Then, reality. It is awful. The quality of teachers and coaches - if you have a concern or complaint you better keep your mouth shut because they don’t want to hear it. Parents concerns are ignored. Lots of underperforming kids and tons of cheating. Teachers look the other way because of graduation quotas that must be fulfilled. Teachers teach their agendas and theories instead of curriculum. This school with very few exceptions does not send kids out prepared for college. They enable kids to remain passing by giving them second and third chances to do assignments. This strategy doesn’t work at the next level, of course. It’s a false paradise. So many unfulfilled promises made to students about next year or the next year - never happen. The success of this school’s students in college is rare. “Straight A” students making 800 and less on SATs. As I said the exterior looks great - it’s the real world inside that fails.

My experience with this school was the worst. Major lack of communication with parents. If your child has any type of disability, you do not want them here! Disorganized, unqualified "teachers", & very rude admins! They want your kid to work all summer, and then don't give them credit, if the "majority" of the kids do not complete the work. Homework on every single break and holiday& hours of homework every night. The major problem with this is that the teachers often loose homework, and the kids are punished for the teachers lack of organization! Also, the Vice principle at the middle school thought it would be a good idea to search my child's body and backpack, without a call home for a parent to witness, or another staff member present. This search was based simply on the word of my child's daily bully, that they also chose not to punish, no matter how much she tortured my child with lies and name calling, and shoving her around. My child's indiscretion?? She had a cough drop for her sore throat! They were told that my child had drugs on her! You see, they frown on sick children missing school, and it is very difficult to catch up if they do. So my child chose to persevere, even though she was sick, and this humiliation was the price she paid for it.

The school should not give required summer homework and then not give credit to the students who worked hard on it just because many students did NOT do it. NO required work; just recommendations. Children need a summer break, too.

Our school partners with Athlos to promote strong character traits, and their mission to develop strong leaders is good for our children.

We love ILTexas, and we love everything our children are learning. We would always appreciate better communication with parents, especially when policies change.
