Run far away! My daughter has been attending this school for almost 3 years now. She was getting bullied for the first 2 years and the school did absolutely NOTHING about it. I hate to mention this but.. My daughter is a child of color. The teachers are also very rude and do not take your concerns into consideration when it’s brought to their attention. They report irrelevant things like your child being in the restroom using soap to wash their hands instead of reporting things like other children physically harming them. I have to hear it from my daughter and ask the teacher afterwards and then they tell me. Nothing ever happens as far as disciplinary action goes it just keeps happening. You can’t bring it to the attention of the principal or the front office because they do not care nor do they take action. Also, I’ve had a very bad experience with a male cross guard yelling at my daughter. It’s simply not ok. The experience by far has been the worst. I’ve also experienced times where the cafeteria has refused to give my child lunch when she gets free lunches. I have to pack her lunches everyday to make sure she eats. I do recommend this school whatsoever. Especially if your child is of color.

I tried to register my daughter n for 2 weeks straight they gave me the run around n asked for more paper n when I take it they asked for something else, the last time I was there the rude registrar said " this is so frustrating" while looking at my paperwork. Imagine my frustration after being sent home every day for 2 weeks, my daughter missed out on 3 weeks of school by the time everything was set n done. I went to central office n they were just as confused, they didn't understand what else she wanted if all the paperwork was submitted. They, James P Butler, didn't even try to help.

We moved into this district last year and do not regret our choice one bit. Everyone has been extremely helpful with our transition from overseas schooling to state side. Even with things being different this year, every interaction we have made has been above and beyond.

Teachers don’t care that their students are getting bullied. They only tell them to stay away from each other.

When dealing with bullying they push it off to every principal possible.

Daughter got bullied so much that the bully broke her elbow. We rented a house in this school’s boundaries because it’s the best but it is horrible on taking care of bullying.

It has been the worst experience we have dealt with.

Wow. Dont even know where to begin. Everyones pretty rude, and only 1 teacher out of 4 teachers in the school that my kids had was a good teacher. Other teachers were horrible, forgetting children, not knowing what to do, unacceptable for teachers.

I don’t like homework but what they send home is manageable for the scholars.

Every teacher my kids have had has made a lasting impression on them and my kids love them

They teach the scholars to be leaders at school, at home, and in their community. They have several programs within the school to teach and involve the scholars

We bought our house specifically for this school. We are a military family that has moved around a lot and James P. Butler is our favorite school. So much so that we won’t move from our house (sell it) until both of our children have moved on to middle school. There’s a reason there has been a waiting list since it opened!

My son just finished kinder and he loved this school. I was a bit disappointed with the homework. It appeared to be very generic/basic and I felt as though my son could have been challenged more.

My son is in 1st grade and has had a wonderful year. As a military family coming from overseas it was a bit of an adjustment but the teacher worked with our son and he finished up the year strong. My son has been academically challenged here and with the dedication of the teacher has been able to exceed expectations. He enjoys going to school, what more can you ask for as a parent.
