I had been a student here for 6 years and this school has gotten worse as the years went by right now the teachers are either disorganized or are hostile towards certain students mainly males and extroverts. Also introvert are not safe either because of bullies and those who are sons or daughters of teachers get special treatment plus. In fact those who are related to teachers do insane things and get away with it meanwhile the others get detentions for talking during lunch and smiling and call it disrespect. Also one time a kid at my table did something bad and confess to it later instead of just punishing him they separated everyone else who was completely innocent for 3 months and lied saying we will be put back together but never kept their promise. Also they will try to override excused absences and my parents had to fight against it to excuse one many complain about homework for all grades however its somewhat true somedays you will have little homework the next week you have a insane amount it is more inconsistent the only good thing about this school is for 7th and 8th if you pass Latin 1 and 2 and algebra 1 you can use those credits in another high school if u plan to go here dont think once , twice but three times about going here

The school staff is, without a doubt, the least organized group I have ever encountered. They seem to actively teach to the bare minimum, with zero thought given to academic rigor or the educational well-being of the students. Clear grading rubrics are non-existent, even for upper grades, leading to constant confusion and frustration for both students and parents. There is a complete lack of support for students who need extra help, and the administration is rarely present to address these systemic issues. I would strongly advise running, not walking, away from this institution.
I am incredibly disappointed with the administration's response to serious issues within the school. When one of my peers was dealing with ongoing harassment and bullying, neither the teachers nor the principals took any meaningful action. The only time they seemed to care was when the incident was recorded to provide evidence, focusing more on the method of reporting than the actual harm being done. Students who are "nuclear bombs"(have been actually called this in the classroom) in the classroom face minimal consequences, leaving the "good" students to suffer the constant disruptions. The lack of accountability creates a toxic environment that jeopardizes the safety and emotional well-being of the entire student body.
This school is experiencing an alarming rate of teacher and staff turnover, and it's easy to see why. There is a profound lack of administrative support for the educators, leaving them to manage all discipline and classroom challenges on their own. The admin is often out of the building at meetings, making them inaccessible when immediate issues arise. This negligence results in an unstable learning environment where new teachers are constantly cycling through, and the overall quality of education suffers immensely. The focus seems to be entirely on funding and getting paid, with student outcomes being an afterthought.

Our experience has been tremendously positive. Our gifted 6 year old has been challenged with curriculum that matches her learning style. Effective teachers who actually build relationships with you. Tons of volunteer opportunities. Our daughter loves going to school and that says a lot!

I am still attending this school, but can I say it is literal hell. YES. The teachers are absolutely brilliant, but the amount of homework I have is absurd. I come home from school and I litteraly sit down and do homework till 11 and if I dont get it finished I have to wake up at 3 in the morning to finish it. It is HORRIBLE. If you want your kid to have a life dont put them in this school. I was a straight A student in every school but this one. I feel so depressed cause EVERY kid in this school is SO WEIRD I mean imagine the weird kid at a public school and this school is FILLED with them. You have no social life outside of school. Its honestly horrible save your kid the depression and lack of social interaction.

In my opinion, this school has some of the most toxic teaching staff and administration I have personally encountered. The admin does not take responsibility for any mistakes they make, choosing instead to brush them under the rug or blame any staff they can. Many teachers (not all) express their disdain for students and parents at any opportunity, often in front of the students themselves, leaving students feeling disheartened and embarrassed. As a result, many students I know felt uncomfortable asking teachers or administration for help in academic or personal matters. The students also have excessive amounts of homework (often 3 hours or more) starting in middle school.

I was a student here but recently left due to how harsh teachers were. Some of them were amazing but others were terrible. They spent more time complaining about how we know nothing and are falling behind than they do "teaching". They don't help struggling students. Sped is good with friendly people who really help, and as I said before, there are some good teachers. During lunch we were constantly reprimanded for what lower grades did. 8th graders and 7th graders were punished for the actions of the 6th graders. Unbeleavable. It used to be good. I have been at this school since it opened. It was phenomenal then. This school has changed for the worse. Also, teachers act superior to parents most of the time. They decide when something is an excused absence or not. Let me ask you this. If my parents need to be somewhere for a few days and cant leave me home alone, Should I stay for my education despite not having anyone to care for me? No! I should not! 1 star

This school is not for every child and they make that clear. If your child is outside the box they will not do well. It seems that some teachers at this school are not held to a high standard and are only required to have a BA in a subject. Lack of teacher training and experience in the classroom shows. They are not flexible and unwilling to partner with parents to make sure the student is successful. The student is written up for everything and their lack of training in dealing with students who need extra attention is apparent. Some teachers are borderline unethical with grading and borderline mentally abusive toward certain students. The special education department is also lacking. If your child needs these services, they are providing minimum services because they have to. The knowledge of what services can be provided is limited. When questioned, you are told you are wrong. I was very disappointed in this school and the lack of empathy and compassion some teachers have toward their students. With a teaching background myself, I found this to be off-putting and not meeting the minimum standards of what a teacher represents. It is disappointing that there are people who think they can teach because they know a subject. True educators spend time and lots of training to be able to hold the title of teacher and it is insulting to the profession.

This is my children's second year at Founders Flower Mound, and it's a great school! I think it must have changed a lot since they've been in their new location. My kids have great teachers and they are learning a lot. They are currently at the Grammar campus. When we started, from looking at the reviews, I was afraid it would be super strict and tough on the kids. Founders is stricter than public school in some areas (of course they wear uniforms, they expect quiet in the halls when going between classes, etc) but in general the teachers and staff are reasonable, kind and understanding. I appreciate that they have high expectations of the kids - for example they really stress neat handwriting in kindergarten when the kids are learning how to write. That's not a bad thing - better to get it right from the start! Sometimes we have low expectations of our kids but they can do hard things!

I was hopeful this charter school would provide a similar experience to the one I had at a magnet school, a small cohort of students building strong relationships as they move from elementary through high school together. However, I found the school environment to be toxic and the staff to be unforgiving and unkind. I watched my sweet, energetic child become quiet and fearful. Further, the emphasis on discipline and their approach to enforcing 'acceptable behavior' doesn't sync with my own efforts to raise independent, creative thinkers.

Posted: July 23, 2020
I would name it an emotionally abusing school for children its better off sending your child to state controlled school because of the vaping and the bullying going on
Posted: July 23, 2020
My daughter came crying home one night because her teacher sent her to detention for not being able to finish THIRTY PAGES of homework
Posted: July 23, 2020
Many teachers quit in the middle and the aides they use are inexperienced
Posted: July 23, 2020
My child was told to quiet down because she is a girl while she was defending herself from a bully. Her friends also openly vaped in class and her teacher did nothing to stop them. My child was influenced by them and tried it herself which caused me to report the school to the police
Posted: July 23, 2020
The administration doesnt monitor the aides and the teachers
Posted: July 23, 2020
Dont have experience with this Personally myself
Posted: March 22, 2019
I don't think kids have a chance to bully between all the work and not talking .
Posted: March 22, 2019
We had an "okay" teacher. Teachers seem exhausted. Thankfully, the turnover hasn't affected our grade this year but I hear teachers do not stay very long.
Posted: March 22, 2019
I thought my kids were getting more character development in public school. Kids aren't allowed to talk or simply be kids. If you have a shy kid-they will do great in this environment.
Posted: March 22, 2019
Good luck getting this guy (headmaster) to email you back...
Posted: March 22, 2019
Fortunately, this wasn't an issue for our family.
Posted: March 22, 2019
Disappointing experience overall. Back to public we go...
Posted: March 22, 2019
Too much homework. My kid is BURNED OUT.
Posted: March 4, 2019
I have never had to directly deal with bullying at the school.
Posted: March 4, 2019
There are some wonderful, compassionate, smart teachers at this school . They "cover up" the short comings and systemic problems that start at the top level. Sadly, this school experiences high teacher turnover. We recently lost a wonderful 4th grade teacher. It's clear the school has no real plan to recruit, retain, and attract the best classical educators. This is a BIG issue for families with upcoming 9th graders. This headmaster spends zero time with the teachers.
Posted: March 4, 2019
The "classical" aspect of this school has been lost. I hope the school can rebound from the recent turbulence so that theres a return to the virtues.
Posted: March 4, 2019
Bottom line: The headmaster does not possess the qualifications to successfully operate and grow a school. There is nothing in his background that lends itself to real leadership. The employee turnover, unavailability, poor communication, constantly playing defense, hiding in his office and dishonestly has several parents questioning Mr. Smith's capabilities. But here is where the real problem lies- We have a headmaster (Smith) who is close friends with the RES regional director. This is why problems are never solved. There is a clear conflict of interest. Complaints are shielded from upper RES management and parents are left frustrated.
Posted: March 4, 2019
This may not be a great fit if your child has learning disabilities. I think if you have the right teacher, however, they will work with you when it comes to supporting learning differences.
Posted: March 4, 2019
I would say that most people want this school to be more than it really is. If you are thinking you will get a private school type education, you are wrong. That old saying "you get what you pay for" rings true in this context. There is an opportunity to build a great classical program in Flower mound but this school simply lacks the talent to do it. I think I speak for most parents in that, this school needs a Mr. Caros. Mr. Smith does not understand the business of education. His complete disregard for his customers-parents and students- is tragic. It will be difficult for him to raise money at this school.
Posted: March 4, 2019
Curriculum is outstanding but that alone is not enough to save this school from its problems.
Posted: February 4, 2019
We havent had any bulling in this school
Posted: February 4, 2019
I dont feel they have to much homework. I love the topics we discuss because of what they are learning. Reviews sent home are not mandatory and I consider them a plus. I see what my children know and where they need help.
Posted: February 4, 2019
We had great teachers so far, they are hard working, very prompt and professional. Love love the teachers.
Posted: February 4, 2019
They do emphasize respect, kindness, good behavior... and they reward it.
Posted: February 4, 2019
I think the new headmaster is great and Ms McDonal too. They answered all our concerns and doing a great job.
Posted: February 4, 2019
I dont know anything about that, I didnt have to deal with it
Posted: February 4, 2019
It is a great school with great potential. Awesome academics and great people but it is not for everyone, I just wish that all those happy parents that I see every day would write some reviews too :)

Posted: February 1, 2019
Posted: February 1, 2019
there is not sufficient communication by the leadership; as a result rumors flourish; strange new rules are implemented and once challenged loosened (e.g. you can only go to the bathroom 3 times per subject per semester)

Posted: January 25, 2019
We've had some great teachers this year. They work very hard. I would imagine they are putting in extra hours of their own time (grading papers, etc). We've been very happy. Our public school teachers did not invest this much time.
Posted: January 25, 2019
The other day my son came home and had good marks for exhibiting "temperance". I like that he is learning these things. He can be a spirited boy and this school has really helped him focus.
Posted: January 25, 2019
Our headmaster is new this year, the change appears to be going very well for the school. I have not had any personal dealings with him but he always greets you with a warm smile. Mrs. McDonald (assistant headmaster) is a wonderful asset to this school! Our front desk staff is phenomenal. Mr. Powell, Mr. Emry, Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Hamilton all make this a happy place to walk into.
Posted: January 25, 2019
I have not had to deal with this issue specifically.
Posted: January 25, 2019
We are excited to grow with Founder's. I feel once we are moved into our new building things will really start to take shape for the school as a whole. I can see positive changes on a daily basis. Most importantly, my kids are happy and are being challenged on many levels.
Posted: January 15, 2019

Posted: January 15, 2019
New administration reduced homework loads already. They want to allow for more time with the family and after school activities.
Posted: January 15, 2019
The middle school team is great! Fifth grade has also been a great experience for my child.
Posted: January 15, 2019
Along with the strong promotion of virtue in the middle school history and literature classes, the science teacher teaches virtue. Mr. Stevenson highlights a different virtue each week.
Posted: January 15, 2019
I like the changes that they made in their first few months. We love Mrs. McDonald and were very excited about her promotion.
Posted: January 15, 2019
The SPED and 504 team clearly care about their students. This is a great improvement from last year.
Posted: January 15, 2019
The new administration addresses issues quickly. I like the new faculty and support staff that they hired. They only have one semester under their belt, so I expect even more improvements over the summer.

Posted: June 5, 2018

Posted: June 5, 2018
Teachers maintain discipline and show genuine desire to teach children the respective subjects and the cardinal virtues (Prudence, Temperance, Fortitude, Justice), etc.
Posted: June 5, 2018
Absolutely, it is part of the pledge, which includes reciting a series of values that children strive to achieve including prudence, justice, fortitude, temperance, and charity.
Posted: June 5, 2018
The headmaster, Mr. Vanderplase, takes time to develop the character of the students and focus on the mental and moral development of children.
Posted: June 5, 2018
The focus is primarily on the classical education model vs. accommodating various learning differences/styles.
Posted: June 5, 2018
Yes, my son was involved in an incident with another student. The school was swift and just in the school's issuance of a well deserved demerit.
Posted: June 5, 2018
The teachers are divided into 2 groups. Homeroom and Math class. Some students are advanced enough so they dont goto their homeroom teacher for Mathematics. The homeroom teachers give adequate and reasonable homework. However some Math teachers give unreasonable and ridiculous homework tasks. They teach one day and then give homework that evening and take tests the next day. Mathematics is NOT TAUGHT this way.
Posted: June 5, 2018
One of the saving graces of this school is the teachers. Many of them are excellent in teaching complex and very challenging curriculum.
However the school has a bad habit of hiring incompetent and scarily unqualified aides.
The aides are the reason i knock 1 point. The aides are to help, but slowly many teachers ask the aides to correct without answer keys. Therefore the aides correct an answer they have no idea about.
The school has to immediately cut the aides' responsibilities and should not under any circumstance allow aides to correct, grade or even teach especially without answer keys.
Posted: June 5, 2018
I do see high integrity , however when punishment is meted out indiscriminately , its hardly fair to expect little kids to maintain integrity.
Some non teaching staff encourage kids to discipline other kids. Terrible idea.
Posted: June 5, 2018
I have read all the other opinions, and it would not help rewriting and hammering leadership over and over again.
That said I do have some observations: I believe the headmaster is a principled man who has good intentions. But heres the problem , being a good person doesnt translate to a good leader, being a principled person doesnt translate to a good Headmaster. The job is a thankless one, one needs enormous amounts of temerity , fortitude and enormous amounts of patience as parents consider the relationship to the school as 1 to one , but in reality the HM deals with many parents with issues over and over again.
The HM has an ideal and a dream for this school, but the execution is sorely lacking. I think the same HM would have been better had he come with 10 years experience.
The assistant HM is a huge disappointment, I see no value add in her addition.
Posted: June 5, 2018
I have no experience with this. Other parents might have some insight.
Posted: June 5, 2018
I believe they do, however they need to be fair to all parties, and this may appear as not being effective. Investigating bullying takes time and requires time to build a case and interview other students.
Posted: June 5, 2018
The curriculum is spectacular, it has opened my childs mind to so many topics. For that I'm grateful. A diamond found in mud will take time but it will be seen. This and some teachers are keeping this school afloat.
I do think remedial action has been taken to steady the ship and hopefully in the years to come this school will thrive.
Posted: May 14, 2018
It's been very difficult to be under this administration. The curriculum is what makes the school worth tolerating the administration.
Posted: May 14, 2018
The focus is more on just memorizing and not learning the material. Often children memorize for the tests and can not recall the information later.
Posted: May 14, 2018
The teachers are working for an administration that puts a lot of restraints on what they can do within the class.
Posted: May 14, 2018
Our school says it is built on virtues such as charity, justice and temperance. However our administration does not exhibit the very virtues they teach. It's creating an environment of double standards and lack of respect.
Posted: May 14, 2018
Lies are not uncommon from administration and lack of knowledge of procedures and polices are constant. The administration does not communicate to parents very well about issues or concerns. Example, the water was out of service at our school over three hours and the school didn't notify parents of this issue. They took children off campus to use the restroom without parent consent.
Posted: May 14, 2018
The school does not support or seek students who are showing early signs of learning disabilities in grades k-2. They work tirelessly to push students with disabilities out the door by not embracing their needs and supporting the students. They have posted articles on their Facebook page discussing how some kids diagnosed with ADHD really do not have ADHD, but instead the article just claims parents do not discipline them.
Posted: May 14, 2018
The administration has been known to out students who have complained or confided in them about bullying or inappropriate behavior.
Posted: May 10, 2018
The wonderful children at this school are learning from their parents. The school does nothing to create a respectful environment for the children. In fact they frequently disrespect the children and the children mimic this behavior with bullying.
Posted: May 10, 2018
Headmaster does not have the experience to be in this position. His inexperience has damaged children. He preaches virtues and tells parents that their children are without virtue. Extremely hippocritical and frightening. The assistant headmistress can not answer simple questions and blames the parent for everything that happens at school. She is dishonest as well.
Posted: May 10, 2018
They tell children with learning differences that their children are without virtue and it is the parents fault. They recently had an article on their Facebook page that said ADHD did not exist and that it was a parenting issue.
Posted: May 10, 2018
Posted: May 10, 2018
The curriculum is solid and wonderful. The school needs to change their administration and their culture to make it a productive, safe, and positive learning environment
Posted: May 10, 2018
Posted: May 10, 2018
Some are wonderful others are horrible. There is no effective coaching from the administration. Afourth grader may get a great solid teacher or they may get an impossible one.

We miss Founders! We moved out of state and the academics at our new private school are disappointingly not as rigorous. Founders gave a fair amount of homework for K-1st grade. We loved the classical education and that our son was exposed to great literature, real history instead of social studies, and daily necessary, imaginative play both indoors when the weather was poor (as opposed to just letting students watch a video at their desks) and outdoors in nature. We also appreciate the low- to no-technology in the classroom and all the wonderful, brilliant ideas such as Literary Linen Day, the Revolutionary Ball, Owl Things Considered newsletter, middle school houses, and more. Mr. Vanderplas is an excellent, passionate, knowledgeable headmaster, and the teachers and staff were just as great. If we ever move back soon, we would love to attend Founders again.

Again, the teachers are required to test a lot be administration. The result hours of homework. If you're child is slightly behind at all, catching up is near impossible due to the sheer weight of testing. This is leadership demanding many test grades loaded in grade book while telling parents that it is not about the grades. The children are in school 40 minutes longer than most public schools then come home and have unreasonable busy work then memorization for tests. They have taken a strong effective curriculum and twisted it into a bunch of facts and memorization without understanding. The other Founder's locations do not do this. This is the result of the burden administration places on their teachers.

Many of the teachers are fantastic but are overburdened by the administrations poor leadership. They are overburdened with children that are not accommodated appropriately, class sizes that exceed state limits which the administration gets around by 'sharing' aides. However, the aides are often pulled from classrooms to teach in other classrooms, handle recess, etc. Many do not have a teaching background so they are very dependent on the the administration for leadership. The administration does not know how to appropriately handle a classroom. It is truly sad as many teachers here have a passion and they are being crushed by administration.

The leadership have no integrity, compassion and respect for children so how could they possibly develop in the children. They have on many occasions gone back on their word. They encourage discipline tactics of embarrassment and shame. They punish the whole for the fault of the few. They are truly cruel to many children especially those that are the most vulnerable.

Leadership of this school is the core of the problem. They are inexperience at running schools, ineffective, and lack the necessary education to run a school. With better leadership, the school would thrive. Unfortunately Responsive Ed. has yet to fix a problem they created. The headmaster and assistant lack honesty, humility, grace and kindness toward children.

They mandated children who did not pass a 60 second fluency test to 3 hours of Saturday school for 10 weeks. If your child missed, they would face disciplinary charges including expulsion. Rather than following the law to look into why a child was reading slow...they were just going to make them miserable in Saturday school. They have openly told parents of children with ADHD that the children are without virtue and that misbehavior is willful disobedience. They have an article posted on the school's facebook page with the headline: Why French kids don't have ADHD. This article is from 2012 and has been refuted by many sources. Yet they put this on their facebook page, then sensor and hide comments from parents who point out their error.

There is a thread on the 6th grade facebook page regarding stolen lunches. The administration has been notified about this since Oct of the 2017/18 school year. As of February 1st, lunches are still being stolen. This is an act of bullying...yet nothing addressed. Instead, they blame the child whose lunch was stolen.
Posted: February 2, 2018
The administration both headmaster and assistant head mistress are lacking experience, skills, education to run a school. They have no knowledge of elementary children and an appropriate learning environment. They still employ tactics such as silent lunch to punish entire grades of children due to their inability to control a handful. There are consistently stolen lunches and bullying among the middle school children. They do not effective accommodate children or evaluate when needed. As a result out much of the teacher's time is spent handling the discipline of children who need extra assistance. They opening tell parents it is their parenting and not the school's lack of experience or job performance. The teachers are overburdened with class sizes that are huge with getting around state limits by 'assigning' an aide. They then pull the aide for days/weeks at a time to substitute for other students. They are working around ESL requirements in shady manners. Then turn and tell parents that their children are without virtue. The headmaster and assistant need to be dealt with immediately. Responsive Ed desperately needs to replace the leadership within this school. The other Founders Schools do not operate in this manner.

Worst school experience ever, especially for boys. Mentally draining for the entire family. If theres one negative childhood experience thatll stand out for a long time to come, this school is it!
Posted: December 18, 2017
Way too much homework. Students sit still in a classroom for almost the entire school day, then asked to do more of the same for hours at home.
Posted: December 18, 2017
Heard about a few good teachers but except for one of our children didnt luck out. Teacher was kind and compassionate, something admin doesnt like to see. No wonder teacher was gone after one year.
Posted: December 18, 2017
Well, unless your motto is what doesnt kill you makes you stronger... Our children were constantly stressed and fighting for their survival at that school. Wonderful character traits flourish in a positive environment not one that always seeks to punish kids with demerits.

Where do I even start?! TERRIBLE administration!!! Inexperienced, inflexible, and not open to suggestions to improve students lifes. Maybe once the headmaster changes this could become a decent school... Was hopeful about assistant principal, as she came highly recommended, but unfortunately she did not bring much needed change.

They seemed to be very inexperienced with regards to special ed. Couldnt wait to get one of our children out of the speech program because he did so well academically. His former public school did so much better than that. BTW, the entire special ed department quit on one day...

No personal experience but what I hear from people who still go there, its not good.

I don't believe they understand the concept of differentiation. You can't follow along then you are left behind.
Posted: October 4, 2017
Very rigid school that shows little compassion and respect to students or parents but expects it in loads. Again, there are a few nice teachers and the office staff are nice except for the head secretary.
Posted: October 4, 2017
Passive administration with little experience. Hard to meet the headmaster. Ineffective school policies.
Posted: October 4, 2017
Too much rote memorization and tests, rather than addressing critical thinking.
Posted: October 4, 2017
First year teachers, high turnover, very few teachers have experience teaching or in elementary ed. A couple of good teachers but outweighed by poor.
Posted: October 4, 2017
Discouraging and frustrating overall. What's sad is that it could be so much better.

Homework (and tests) rely heavily on rote memorization and regurgitation. Little effort to actually teach / explain facts, just memorize them and spit them back.
Posted: May 31, 2017
There are some real gems here, but they are outweighed by ineffective teachers. Poor communication skills abound. Teachers certainly do not practice the so-called 'virtues' they spout. Demerits are often given in anger or retaliation, and claimed as a 'teaching tool.'
Posted: May 31, 2017
Kids can learn these things, but often from watching what teachers / administration does and doing the opposite. Respect certainly isn't afforded to the students, but is demanded by teachers & administrators.
Posted: May 31, 2017
Administrators allow ineffective / poor teachers to continue and do not support or effect change. They preach accountability and taking ownership, yet fail to do that themselves. God help you if you have a question, problem or concern, because you won't get any help from administration.
Posted: May 31, 2017
Very little effort to accommodate learning differences, especially in upper grades.
Posted: May 31, 2017
Bullying is rampant. Interestingly enough, it's the girls that are the problem. They pick on each other and on the boys. Staff glosses over or ignores. Bullying is mental, emotional, and physical.
Posted: May 31, 2017
If your child can survive within their rigid standards and memorize things quickly, you may make it at this school. If your child is at all out of the box or has an issue of any kind, you're on your own, and your best bet is to get out as fast as you can. There's a reason a single class lost 10 kids over the course of the year and many others are just hanging on till the school year is over before they bolt.
Posted: May 31, 2017
I have not had to personally deal with this, but have not heard good things from those who have.
Posted: May 31, 2017
There is too much homework given to the students. Most is memorization, which does not allow the child to learn to think on his/her own.
Posted: May 31, 2017
Many of the teachers have absolutely no experience in the classroom or with children in general. There is no requirement to have a degree in the subject matter taught, or in elementary education in general.
Posted: May 31, 2017
If the administrators lack integrity, compassion, and respect, they can never develop these traits in their students. There is absolutely no compassion or respect shown to the parents by the administrators.
Posted: May 31, 2017
The leadership at this school, particularly the principal and assistant principal are completely ineffective. They do not take the time to address parent concerns. Trying to get in touch with an administrator takes an act of God. Furthermore, an excuse given for the lack of communication was that it was the end of the year. IF the children are required and expected to study for tests given on the last day of school, the administrators should be required and expected to actually do their jobs through the last day of school.
Posted: May 31, 2017
All tests are exactly the same across the board. All require memorization. They do not encourage the students to think. There is no variety to accommodate different learning styles.

I believed that this would be a great place for my child after having seen the atmosphere at his public school. However, enrolling him here has certainly taken away any self confidence he may have had on the academic front. There is a trail of broken children coming out of the school. Too many, boys in particular, have had all confidence taken away from them in the academic setting. Education is extremely important, and I always believed it to take top priority, however, with all of the troubles we are now seeing in our children, this model of education is not one which we can support.

I am happy that my boy is leaning great values & is being educated the way I believe is right for him.
School can be a bit relaxed about disciplinary aspects however I also do believe that he gets to have enough fun at home & during weekends - so the school atmosphere provides a great balance.
Overall very happy with the school & would encourage parents looking for great education & values to come to FCA

3rd Grade Experience. The atmosphere is peaceful. The classroom flows with interaction from the students as they learn. The teachers are calm and fun; engaged, communicate often and are helpful.
Our daughter came from a Montessori background and t quickly took to the classical education and structure. The curriculum is diverse and interesting. Homework can be accomplished and completed.
My daughter has dyslexia (qualified 504) and with the Montessori background of no homework or writing out her notes, we weren't sure of the transition in this arena. She has done excellent. Her teacher have been helpful also.
I am delighted a friend shared Founders Classical Academy (Flower Mound) with us. If I had known it existed her 2nd grade year I would have toured then, and having almost a full year of experience under our belts, I would have attempted for her to attend a year earlier.
Virtures, respect, honor and manners are part of the culture, as is teaching accountability to one's commitment. We are grateful!

I have two students here in their second year. My oldest is very academically-minded and easygoing. She is very challenged by the academic rigor and enjoys the deeper levels of learning. My youngest is a normal, wiggly boy. I've been impressed at how much he's matured and how patient his teachers are with him. He also loves the challenging academics! I'm so happy to have a place that values both rigorous academics and training in good character. It's rare to find a school that places emphasis on both parts.

Our son has learned so much and grown so much here. We've been blessed to have warm, devoted teachers. I'm grateful for the chance to send him to a school like this with advanced academics. There are high expectations for behavior, which has been good for him. He is thriving.

They expect too much from kindergartners . Afterall they are in the school to learn whatever values the school boasts about and not to be tagged as someone who lacks values.
They seem to be having a problem with every thing a normal 5 year old would do and keep sending warnings abouts demerits and that the child lacks values. You cant expect a 5 yr old to follow and do everything you ask them .
The focus is more on dicipline and punishments than the education .
Some of the front desk staff are very rude and annoying -There is lot of discrimination too.
They keep referring everything to their parent handbook which has completely contradictory information than what they say .
Having said all that - academically my child seems to be learning a lot and faster too .
It is all these other things that are very annoying.

I've read in other reviews that if your child does not conform to their extremely strict rules or struggles academically, he or she will be pushed out, never did I imagine that this would happened with our kindergarten student..!!!! Our child had some trouble following the rules (sitting for long periods of times, raising her hand, staying quiet in line, putting her feet in the floor etc). She kept getting in trouble for not doing this, and their only solution was a threat of suspension, and possible expulsion..!!! So if you do not want your child to be an unhappy robot, this is not the school for you. I saw so many kids in the car lines crying, not wanting to go to school, too sad! They need to understand that kids can be challenge academically while enjoying their childhood.

Victims of bullying are basically ask to provide evidence of the bullying, if not they act as if it never happened.

All they know what to do is punish children. If your child struggles academically or other wise, he or she will be pushed to get out. No solutions, alternatives or resources to resolve any issues.

Too much homework. Kids have no time to be kids just do homework after a long day of school.

Recess is helf OFF CAMPUS everyday and parents are asker to sign a waiver/ permission form (just in case).
Tests cannot be made up under any circumstances.
Headmaster (Sam) is very inexperienced and asked us to "have patience, it's only our first year" my sons will not be your guinea pigs and repeat the grade just because he has no idea what he is doing.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDDOS HERE. THIS SCHOOL IS A JOKE.
