Hello! Former student here! (7th grade.. though I moved)

I loved it here. Yeah it's cheap, they don't really give you much at lunch (some are really gross) and stuff but..
the people here were so kind to me! we all operate like a neighborhood, yeah, there's annoying folks but it's so cozy there! if you were honors, like me, the classes are pretty easy but difficult and I ACTUALLY LOOK FORWARD TO EACH DAY! mostly because of my friends, though.

though they are really racist and homophobic.. :(
but I somehow made friends with them too, and changed their views on homosexual people! (they are normal to them now, instead of full on hating.))

have note that I am apart of the LGBTQ+ and i'm a furry. and they still accepted me!

We tried multiple schools and nothing fit my son. Either bullies or learning was off. When we found Harmony it was so different. When my son walked in on his first day, the kids were fighting about who my son should sit with! When he got home from his first day he said "Mom, that school is so weird, everyone is so nice even the kids." I told him that it was normal and good. Not weird. They teach the kids to be good people along with promoting what they love. We have now been in Harmony for 3 years. My son was unsure what he loved, but they motivated him to find his love and passion. He now knows what he wants to do and is so excited about all the extra stuff Harmony provides.

I'm a student at this school right now and boy do I hate it here. Everyone is racist and their vocabulary only consists of Racial slurs. The food here is just overly disgusting, but if you don't eat, they get angry at you for sleeping. They expect you to be so ready to learn after lunch, when really, it's just disgusting. I get driven here every morning and even a graduate here says the same thing. Yes, it gives you amazing education, but for me it's hard to learn with all of the racism and homophobia. I wouldn't put your child's name on the lottery if I were you.

In my opinion, Harmony is outstanding in helping students get into college and helping students in that aspect. A traditional public school does not have the time or enough counselors to get all their students college ready. They try to accommodate to the students needs when it is possible.
Many students have been here many years, and they are always welcoming and friendly to new students. Overall, it is a great campus that helps build leadership, character and respect to all their students.

This school is a small, safe, STEM school. Focusing more academic success, College ready, Science-Technology-Engineering-Math. It's very successful about the academic field. My son and %30 of senior students earn an Associate Degree Diploma from Richland College in 2018

CRLP College Readiness and Leadership program was very useful for my daughter. Especially, Saturday SAT & ACT programs, tutoring, and SAT Practice Tests, Leadership Camps were very wonderful opportunities before college application.

The teachers seem excited about what they teach. They spend a lot of time making sure my kids are learning what they should be.

Excellent school where the teachers put in so much extra personal time to help my children. The focus seems to be on learning. I always know what is going on with their education.

As I've stated, bullies can do as they please and get away with it.

Posted: January 20, 2017

The special education program has been wonderful for my child. The rest of the school treats him like any other student, and his work suffers for it, which he then has to make up in SpEd.

Posted: January 20, 2017

There is no leadership, except for the couple of teachers that care.

Posted: January 20, 2017

When they get a good teacher, they get a GREAT teacher, a teacher who is passionate about their subject and engages my child and helps him learn, even when he hates the subject (if you don't have an autistic child, you have no idea what a huge deal this is). However, the rest of the teachers just seem to be there because it allows them to be in the US. There's no passion, no communication, no help. My son has come home in tears because a teacher wouldn't listen to him regarding homework or bullying.

Posted: January 20, 2017

My son is constantly missing homework assignments due to lack of information. Even other teachers have tried to help him find out what the assignment is or what is required, and they e-mail me back saying they couldn't figure it out, either. A couple teachers will e-mail the assignment to you or there will be a link on-line, but most dismiss it and move on.

TLDR; terrible school, a few good teachers, great fundraiser, lousy communication, bullies.

The biggest issue with this school is the incredible lack of communication. For example, they just advertised a school trip for two years from now, but there are no dates, no cost amount listed, or who to contact if we have questions. Their "Wednesday mail" never comes on a Wednesday, which means that if they remember to tell you about a meeting that was going to happen Thursday night, you likely missed it. Typos throughout. My son has missed detention twice because no one told us he had it!

Although this is a STEM school, Science club was canceled due to lack of interest. I was not refunded (clubs cost quite a bit). Neither was I refunded when Yearbook club disappeared. I attempted to join the PTO and never heard back. The fall fundraiser fell through from lack of organization. Spanish class stopped after the first quarter.

The school sent out an e-mail about some rumors spreading over their favoritism toward people from Turkey. They claim the rumors were false, but I took a look at the schools and was shocked. Nearly every teacher is Turkish, as are a good deal of the students.

No one sticks to any rule. They state over and over that they have a strict dress code, yet students ignore it and nothing happens. Some students stole my son's backpack; nothing happened. Another student deliberately threw a rock at my son, striking him in the head. Nothing happened.

I would move my son to a different school, but this is the second one we've tried. He's autistic, and has trouble adjusting, and he actually likes his teachers, some of whom seem to really care and respond to my questions (unlike most which never e-mail me back). Most importantly, he's learning. The SpEd group seems to function well so far.

He also enjoys the chocolate fundraiser in the spring, which gives away amazing prizes like an iPhone 6 and PS4. I worry that it's his only purpose in staying. No one worked on the fundraiser last year other than him, so he won all of the prizes. While it's nice, I don't think it's worth all the aggravation. Don't even get me started on the after school pick up mess. Just drive by anytime from 3:30-4 and you'll see the long line of cars waiting for their kids because they assigned a number system and never used it.
