Very disappointed with my experience at Trivium Academys Farmers Market campus. I submitted all required admission paperwork a week before school started, and my son was accepted. On his second day, he was removed because of a code-of-conduct issue from his previous schoolinformation that had already been provided during the admissions process.
My son had no behavioral issues at Trivium and genuinely liked the school. Instead of meeting with us or discussing the situation, we were simply told to pick him up. His belongings were packed up in front of his classmates, which was extremely embarrassing and emotionally upsetting for him.
I contacted the principal and superintendent and repeatedly requested the documentation and investigation details, but received no meaningful response. The Director of Student Services from his previous district even attempted to contact Trivium regarding what appeared to be a misunderstanding, but communication was unsuccessful.
Whatever the circumstances, the lack of communication and the way this situation was handled caused unnecessary stress and emotional distress for my son and our family. Based on our experience, I would give this campus the lowest possible rating.

My review is for the Proton & Midway Campuses in Farmers Branch.
With three kiddos at two different campuses, I get to see a lot of what happens at Trivium. They go above and beyond to make learning come to life for the kids with such fun & creative assignments and learning opportunities. There is so much more flexibility to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual class (while still meeting the TEKS) as opposed to an ISD. I have one kid in SpEd, one gifted and one too young to determine yet, and my kids are each seen, encouraged and challenged appropriately with kindness, grace and genuine care. The parent involvement is amazing and such a community of support for the teachers too. We have homeschooled, public schooled and now charter schooled and it has been a great fit and wonderful first year with many more in our future!

My experience with Trivium academy is that they only care about their reputation. When I first joined this school it looked live a very promising venue for my education ,but once I experienced their administration and how they handled reinforcement actions against other students. Me and my friend were inappropriately touched by a class mate in inappropriate areas and the school did nothing To punish this student when me and my friend were both touched sexually the only punishment he got was iss for a day. Furthermore this same student has been reported by myself and my friend for being racist to other students. I dont recommend this school if you care about the well being of your children.

I was apprehensive to send my daughter to our local PISD elementary for kindergarten. Although it is in a good neighborhood, the ratings and reviews I read didnt make me feel like she would get the education Id hope for.
Luckily, I met another mom who had just learned about Trivium, and told me about the new Plano campus opening.
We are now 3 months in, and I could not be more thrilled with her education.
They utilize classic education techniques, and also include amazing technology designed to help identify both gifted areas and areas that need a little more attention.
My daughter is absolutely thriving at Trivium, and is genuinely excited to go every day.
I also love that the Trivium teachers and staff encourage parent participation in the school.
They seem to want all parents to be involved, but without pressuring them if time doesnt allow.
Because of this, Ive gotten to meet other teachers (aside from my daughters), other parents, and all her friends.
This is huge because I can it enables me as a parent, to see the people who surround my daughter every day.
It is so important to have a good village to support your childs educational (and social) growth, and I feel like Ive found that at Trivium.
We cant wait to keep growing with the Trivium community!

This school used to be one campus and now it has three. My review is for the Plano campus. My daughter is in 4th grade and went to the Legacy Preparatory charter school that was in this location and had a terrible experience. We were excited when we found out that Trivium was coming because we had heard great things.
So far, we LOVE this school! The teachers and principal are so engaging and truly care about the students. The kids are excited to be learning and are not being taught to the test. There is no homework. Every day they have TWO recesses, PE, music, and art. My daughter is truly thriving and no longer asks to stay home because she doesn't want to go to school. I cannot wait to see all the great things that will happen this year at Trivium and I am so glad to have found a school that teaches outside of the box and encourages creativity and critical thinking.

As an active member of the Trivium Academy community for many years, I can confidently say this school stands out as an exceptional place for academic and personal growth. Trivium fosters a positive, passionate, and involved community where students, parents, and educators work together to create a supportive and enriching environment.
One of the school's greatest strengths is its rigorous academic standards, which challenge students and prepare them for college and beyond. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning. Trivium students consistently rise to the occasion, excelling in both classroom settings and UIL academic competitions.
The teachers at Trivium are truly invested in their students success. They bring not only expertise but also genuine care and dedication to their classrooms, ensuring that each child receives the guidance and encouragement they need to thrive. The administration is equally engaged, maintaining open communication with families and demonstrating a deep commitment to student achievement and well-being.
Beyond academics, Trivium offers a wealth of opportunities for students to develop their talents and interests. The school boasts a wide range of athletic teams and extracurricular activities, allowing students to explore their passions and build lifelong skills in leadership and teamwork.
Overall, Trivium Academy provides a well-rounded, high-quality education in a nurturing and driven environment. Its a place where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. I highly recommend it to any family seeking an exceptional academic experience for their child.

I was a student 2022-2024 and honestly, Trivium is a whole can of worms. And I wasn't even that integrated into all of it! The admin was not communicative at all. The app we used during that time sucked! Notices and announcements got deleted after two weeks, and the people making those posts rarely ever accommodated for that. It also feels very elitist, in a way. There's a few families there that have a foot up and they automatically know more, have more ins into volunteer roles. It's usually the same handful of families doing the same thing, but not for a lack of trying. The teachers differ a lot. I've had the most wonderful math and social studies teachers there and the worst ELA teacher of my life. It's very mixed. If your student is prepared to be social and has tough skin (because the bullying there *is* a problem, let's be for real- cliques and drama run rampant and the 'bad' teachers, aka teachers who are more involved in student drama [targeted] do nothing and instead fuel the fire that is pubescent rumors) then they'll probably be okay. If they don't, however, and are on the wrong side of awkward, they might not be able to find any friends and will more than likely be shunned.
TL;DR, Trivium is not for the faint of heart. If your child is emotionally or socially stunted be prepared for them to probably be bullied by peers. If not, they'll likely be able to make it into the heart of the main ecosystem.

I would highly recommend this K-12 school. It is not run by a corporation but a group of dedicated teachers who want to build thinkers in a positive and unique way. The students here thrive in a rigorous learning environment from amazing teachers. These teachers and administrators are truly invested in their students success in the classroom, while still giving them so many extracurricular opportunities that helps build the whole child.

Terrible school...I would definitely seek alternative education for your children. The administration is so rude and disrespectful to parents- very difficult people to work with. The least of it is they do not have a tardy system, so if your child is even a minute late to class they count them absent for the entire period. The worst of it is there are a lot of reports of bullying at this school that go unaddressed. My child was a victim of bullying here and it got so bad we had to switch schools- and this has happened to several other students as well requiring transfers. They care more about their public image by not admitting they have a problem with bullying than they do about actually stopping it. Honestly, it has been one of the worst experiences of our lives sending our child to this school.

I am a parent of a child who has been going to Trivium since it opened. Like ANY school, not everything is perfect. There have been bumps along the way but that would happen no matter what school my kid goes to. We've watched the school grow, pivot, and evolve. The care given to the children has never been sacrificed no matter what has been going on (COVID, flooding, out growing current school). I've seen posts on here about how communication was lacking, how carpool was terrible, and how the 4 day school week was thrown at us. All I can say is that there is probably TOO much communication and if that parent wasn't hearing anything, they must not have been part of the grade pages on Bloomz. Teachers and Admins go out of their way to let everyone know what is going on. ALL.THE.TIME. And yes, every single year at the beginning of the year we get a fresh batch of parents that do not know how our carpool works and it messes it up for the rest of us! And it is terrible, but by the 2nd week, everything flows freely and it's as quick as it can be. This year was slower because the city came in and tried to mandate a single entry point, but after they evaluated the line, the city changed their mind. And as far as the 4 day school week goes, we did have time to weigh in and honestly, as a school of choice, as all charter schools are, they have the right to decide on these things. Also, we love the 4 day school week. It works for us and as a parent, I CHOOSE and will continue to CHOOSE to send my kid to Trivium each and every year.

We have had a wonderful experience at Trivium! Our three kids have a wide variety of social and academic needs, and they are all thriving there. Teachers have the flexibility and support to create engaging, hands on learning that the students love. The curriculum is rigorous and individualized to best serve each student. Most of all, we love the strong sense of community. The parents are intentional and invested in the school which creates an environment where everyone feels welcome.

When this school began, I marvelled at how everyone on the staff and administration were all working towards the same goal. The school was very student-centric. I wish that were still the case.
I was here at the beginning and I am preparing to pull my children out. I simply can't take the risk anymore. The change in grading system for high schoolers puts little emphasis on Major Grades and even less on Final exams. This change was approved over the summer by the Board but was not announced until we had been back at school for nearly 2 weeks.
This is not going to prepare these kids for college. What is worse is that colleges will find out and it will become harder for Trivium kids to compete for admission to top universities.

Trivium is as close to perfect as a school can get. They have a great curriculum, great teachers, and the overload parents with communication. The four day week is such a wonderful experience for our family. We get valuable family time with our kids that you never get back, and the extra day off gives our kids the chance to explore other interests and form who they will be in adulthood. Every family should be so lucky to get to have their children at such a special place.

They truly "do what's best for kids!"
We are delighted to be a part of the Trivium Academy family and look forward to the teaching and learning excellence they embolden in our children each day. My wife and I are confident Trivium will propel our kids into their respective futures with a great education and unforgettable memories.

Beware of the 4 day school week! Your children will be at school from 7:40 am until 4:00 pm. That doesn't sound so bad until you realize that you have to get through the carpool line which is terrible and then get home or to your children to their activities
For the little ones, they said that the kids will have a nap time and 3 recesses when they had us in the Parent Town Hall about 4 day school week and how great it was all going to be. Then we send our kids to school at the start of the year and find out that those promises are not being kept.

I have worked at Trivium since the very first year and this is my home. The administration has always made decisions by asking the question, what is best for the kids? Like any school, we have our own set of challenges, but the staff here works together to problem solve and always has the best of intentions for students and staff. The students here are awesome! They are excellent communicators, respectful, well rounded, creative, and hard working. Our students love to learn and dont shy away from a challenge. Teachers develop meaningful relationships with their students, and its really special to watch the kids grow from elementary, to middle school, to high school. Our inaugural graduating class last year is a testament to the awesome human beings that Trivium helps shape! My own two daughters will 100% be going here, and I cant wait for my oldest to start in kinder next year! Trivium is a special place for so many reasons, and we will be lifelong knights!

They forced through a 4-day week at the end of the year even though half of the parents were against it (they issued skewed poll questions and gave only 24 hr. notice on a townhall... which was simply them trying to convince the 4-day plan was right even though decisions "weren't made yet." What nonsense!). Worst communication of any large institution I've come across, let alone a school. Clearly, the school is for them rather than for the community they claim to serve (I mean, heck, they didn't have a functioning lunchroom for 2 years with multiple excusestruth was, they needed the overflow space to pack in more students, so screw hot lunch). I wouldn't be surprised if the 4-day was to reduce the size of lower grades to expand the upper grades. It's too bad. Goodbye to them.

They force you to choose between an instrument or a choir. My child doesn't want to do either. I don't think you should force them to do it. Every kid has their own talents, or at least let them choose their instrument, and don't make them do solos. What would you even do?

This is by far the WORST school Ive ever had to deal with. The communication is poor, staff comes off as high school students far as gossiping in front of students and their approach and tone towards students.
For example, my daughters first day here i was called and told i needed to bring her lunch because the cafeteria was closed due to covid, no one mention this during the entire enrolling process! no notices are ever sent home or emailed in regards to school being out, picture day, etc.
I feel some staff is raciest and they pick and choose their favorites. Trivium has been an epic fail for my 7th grade African American daughter.
I wouldnt recommend this school if it was the last school on earth. Theres no effective social-emotional support. All talk and no actions. ZERO. family engagement, they dont allow parent inside the building. You have to wait outside and discuss any and all matters with no privacy. I was told i needed to make an appointment to speak with any school personal regarding GREAT concern for black daughter. Insane

We have seen our children become wonderful leaders, friends, and students while we have been at Trivium the past 5 years. My oldest needed a small school where she was seen and not just a number and we have received just that! The teachers take their time to teach how the individual student learns and get the most potential out of each child. My children have thrived in an environment where they feel they are cared for and respected. The community feel of the school is coming back after Covid derailed what was originally set up. The parents are eager to help the staff and make the school the best it can be. When we have had concerns. the administration has listened and helped us solve them each time. We are very proud to be a Knight!

There is a general consensus that leadership is not very good with communication with both teachers and families, however that improved last year with the addition of an assistant principal. Still, there is work to be done. For Trivium to survive their infancy, leadership will need to continue transforming their style and remove the reputation for favoritism. I haven't seen it but others have complained about this.

Mixed review on this point. Some have received good support, others have had to advocate extensively for their child to be supported appropriately. There is a tendency from teachers and administration to try to limit the number of students who are identified for support. If you plan to enroll your child who has learning differences, be ready to be an advocate for your child, have all your documentation and testing done outside of the school, and plan to get involved at the school. It's a big school. Make sure you are known and your child will receive better support. That may sound unfair, but it's the way it works in the world.

My child has not experienced any bullying. To contrast that, my older child who does not attend Trivium but attended a neighborhood LISD public school experienced a year of social bullying in 5th grade by both students and teachers. He was one of many that we are aware of. That public school is known for encouraging shaming and bullying to get kids to conform. Trivium is nothing like that, it's a welcome relief from that environment.

Trivium is a very good fit for our child and we intend to continue making Trivium our school of choice as long as we see the school working hard to improve. We love the ethnic diversity and feeling that any family can belong at Trivium. The school welcomes all children, from quirky kids with high academic ability to students who have some challenges succeeding academically or socially in the typical authoritarian style public school where test scores are the focus and children's individuality is stifled. In general, this means more Trivium students have a need to develop their academic or social skills. The benefit is if a student is in need of encouragement and support, he or she will be in good company and will not be punished for being who they are, but instead be gently held to high expectations without the shaming of the usual public school.
I would rethink enrolling my child at Trivium if I was expecting a school where things run beautifully all the time and the children are frozen out of fear of punishment. I would also reconsider enrolling if my child had amazing academic potential and was on track to qualify for a merit based scholarship at a high ranked university. Trivium may not be ready to meet some students' needs for high academic rigor at this time. Many families have come and left because they were frustrated that some of the systems aren't completely worked out or their child's teachers were not pushing their child enough academically.
Trivium is still in the midst of growing pains, but the good outweighs the challenges for us because our child is thriving in the compassionate, supportive environment while learning to think for himself. I have been willing to partner with the school, been an advocate for my child, and looked for a way I could volunteer to help the school grow stronger. I believe Trivium is committed to a movement to reform public education. If I wanted to just drop my child off, see 100% on a STAAR test, and never get involved, this would not be the right school.

Grades K-4 have very little homework. Grades 5 and up gradually increase intensity of homework. Some parents want their child to have more. But in other schools children spend too many hours sitting still at school and then sitting still doing homework. This balanced approach works great.

Many excellent and amazing teachers with a heart for kids. Several have been less effective, high turnover compared to other schools.
Posted: June 17, 2020
The dedication to character development is evident in theme weeks and group projects, genius hour projects, etc. There is always work to be done in this area. Children can still be unkind and the learning and modeling for character development must also be happening in the home.

10/10. We love Trivium and have been here for 2 years. Its a wonderful school with supportive staff and involved families. Its its own little community that sticks up for one another and pushes each other to succeed.

I see some negative reviews sometimes but I think part of is because the school is not a good fit for them. My priorities for my kids are not academic rigor. I want them to do that on their own (if they desire). I want them to love school and learning and use that to inspire them to go further in life. I want my kids not only to be drilled in facts and figures but also be able to create things on their own and think independently. I have seen that here at Trivium more than any other school I have had experience with. My parents were both educators and I am familiar with the behind the scenes that goes on at schools. There have been teacher changes but I have every teacher change has been a positive thing. I have never had a teacher change mid-year and the new teachers have all been great. I looked hrs upon hours to find the "perfect" school. I never found it ;); but I dot believe this is as good as it gets without paying an arm and a leg. My son comes home inventing things in his head and coming up with new ideas for his genius hour project. No, I am not a big wig parent in the school (some claimed the administration had them write reviews); this is truly coming from my heart. I'd also like to say with testing (since some claim it is only a "fun" school) that my kid tests off the charts on all national/texas exam and I attribute that to the learning he received from this school

We have been here for 2 years, I dont usually write reviews but I have seen a HUGE change in my child. He loves learning and going to school. He actually cried when he was sick and couldn't go. I think a big part of this is that they dont give HW. It allows us to customize the HW he does at home and also spend more time as a family.

My son had absolutely loved his two teachers he has had. His kindergarten teacher would even talk to us on the phone anytime we had concerns. A typical conversation took one hour. She was so great with him. His new teacher (first grade) has really inspired him to read. He went from seeing reading as a chore to now I have to stop him from reading

They have several dress up days that they students are encourage to be leaders and care for others. They do several service projects through out the year
Posted: January 8, 2020
I know at times it can seem they arent listening, but I do believe they are doing the best they can. It is hard to start a school from scratch and also have to jump through all the red tape. I have not seen anything negative on my end
Posted: January 8, 2020
My son is in the gifted program and I think this helps him a lot. I do wish he could be pushed a little harder at school sometimes but I also know this can be challenging at any school. We have taken it in our own hands and do "hw" on his level when he comes home. This one reason I love the no HW policy because it allows me to pick things for him to do on his level and interest

I have never seen any problems at the school
Posted: November 19, 2019
I have written a review to many times to count. I cannot begin to outline all the disturbing happening inside Trivium. I strongly advise anyone looking to enroll do your homework. Ask turnover rate of teachers, turnover of students, ask to see curriculum, ask around to find other parents that have left and ask them why. I so wish I did prior to enrolling my children! A lot of these inquiries can be submitted through TEA if Trivium is unwilling to share.

I have many ethical concerns with the leadership therefore not building the type of character I want my children to exhibit
Posted: November 19, 2019
Leadership at Trivium Academy is terrible! The founders are 3 teachers who have taught together and 2 are related. No chain of command. Dare you voice your concern and you will be on your way out the door. They got a little to concerned with making a lot of money instead establishing a strong Charter School for children.
Posted: November 19, 2019
Welcomes SPED and then does not support the needs of these childre. Therefore they dont develop and without the support for SPED THE CLASSROOMS are chaotic! All suffer because the leadership will not hire enough staff to appropriately handle the disruption of the classroom

We are very impressed with our childs teacher and all the teachers. They are caring, all in, and creative with their lessons. When my kindergartener is Skyping with other classes around the country doing book talks, it speaks volumes about the great work happening here.

Our transition to Trivium has been a wonderful one. My son has thrived and I see a lot of positive changes in both his academics and social emotional learning. He is making progress academically and he has made some wonderful friends. This was a good choice for our family.

Students in lower grades have homework that is meaningful and relevant. They are reading, working on words, and practicing math and science in action. Paper and pencil work is not the norm, which is what many parents want.
Posted: October 17, 2019
Teachers are helpful, work hard to help students, and provide feedback and information in a timely manner.
Posted: October 17, 2019
Students are instructed on Social and Emotional skills daily. The elementary classrooms have morning meeting and lesson on self control, social behaviors, and self regulation.

Administration is communicative and keeps us informed in what is going on in the school. They work to help the school and students grow.
Posted: October 17, 2019
The teacher and staff are helpful when student. They are more than will to implement accommodations as needed.

We are happy, our kids are happy and learning. They are showing growth on their reports from the school. One of my children has some anxiety issues and this school has been a blessing. It has a family type of atmosphere, so my advice is for parents to get involved and see for yourself that it's a special place where your children can been seen and heard.
Posted: October 17, 2019
I enjoy that my children can participate in extra curriculars and not have to stay up late working on homework. They work hard at school, so we can enjoy our family time too. I asked for extra spelling work to help one of my children and then both teachers started sending their spelling sorts home for extra practice.
Posted: October 17, 2019
We like the morning meetings. On my tour, I noticed how nice the kids were to us and each other, so it seems that they do a good job of building a positive community of the school.

Like I mentioned before, any issues we've had have been handled and communicated. Kids aren't perfect, so I expect some issues to arise. My children are happy and confident at Trivium, and they know who to go to if they need help.

As for accountability and responsibility, well, dont except your child to grow in this area. Grades and homework dont start until 7th grade. Thats too late. When your kid comes to you and says they dont need to work on a project or study the 50 states and capitals because it doesnt matter since they will get a 2 or 3 no matter what on the 1-4 skills mastery ranking (ie report card), that right there is a problem. We dont believe that schools should give hours of homework a night or meaningless at home projects that parents will end up doing, but you can hold kids accountable with grades or minimal homework and teach them study skills and hold them accountable.

Staff and student turnover is excessive for a school. Dont let them fool you that it is typical to have 25-30% staff turnover every year for the past 3 years. Something is wrong, yet resigning staff wont tell the founders why they are leaving because they wont listen or take into consideration any concerns. They wont admit that there are issues in the building. Maybe 1 observation a year, if that. No mentoring or coaching. And what about disciplining the students. Well, the favorite students that are discipline problems, get special treatment and do what they want. Some problem kids have behavior charts and they really dont need them. Those kids just need to be redirected by teachers who are trained and mentored. Also, some teachers are not certified and others are not certified to teach their assigned grade level.
Dive deeper. Ask questions. MAP Testing, STAAR and accommodations for 504. Do the teachers actually analyze the students MAP scores, inform the parents of their progress or areas to work on? No. Thus students are falling below grade level. The school claims they dont say the word STAAR or teach to it, but it is a public school and if a child fails STAAR it looks bad and they cant move onto the next grade (for certain grades), so it is important to know the material and pass the test. Be flexible in your curriculum, but make sure the students are equipped with the material to move onto the next grade. Accommodations. Is your child receiving them? Ive heard of many that are not, and that is not okay. No consistency.

Our experience was great for building up our child who would have remained quiet and shy in a larger school setting and for that we are grateful. Along with the fact that our child met some great friends and we, as adults, did too.
Posted: September 20, 2019
Just because you asked and received an answer, does not mean it is the truth. The admin and founders are great sales people and will tell you what you want to hear. Watch out for great reviews. When a negative review is posted, the Founders will ask their favorite volunteer moms to write great reviews to offset the negative one. Go look for yourself. A coincidence, I think not. If you have to ask people to go write a good review...thats pretty sad and low. Not professional. Thats the kind of people running the school.
We were told 2 recesses a day, PE more than one time a week, Spanish offered, and an awesome maker space area. Well, free play, yes, but the Spanish program has had 4 teachers in 4 years (as well as music), and the maker space is now shut down. Again, a great sales pitch, but dont believe everything you hear at the presentation nights or on tours.

No counseling lessons were ever taught from what my child told me. The teachers would incorporate some lessons into their morning meeting, but no assemblies with professionals or lessons taught by the counselor.
Posted: September 20, 2019
If you want your child to have fun, be happy, have no responsibility, enable you and the school staff, then this is the school for him. To be able to answer to a boss, meet deadlines, handle criticism, and be challenged, you should consider looking elsewhere.

Homework is a double edged sword. If appropriate homework is given then it is useful, if not it is a waste of time. I loved the fact that for the two years that my children were at Trivium we were not bogged down with nightly homework, unfortunately this left me with little knowledge of what was going on in the classroom and the ability to keep an active eye on what my children were learning or the concepts in which they were struggling. We are back at a school that gives homework, and I feel that I have a better grasp on what my children are learning than when they were at Trivium.

Trivium helped my child learn some social skills she would not have learned at a traditional school, but it lacked in academic rigor. My children are now behind in school because of their two year attendance at this school. The school puts on a great show, but I think the reality is really jaded. I had a teacher tell me to my face that she was just an average math student, when all previous records indicated that she was in the top 5% of grade level peers. Their gifted program seemed to be an elite club of teacher kids and their close family friends. Trivium is run like a family business, not a public school. They did a good job of pulling the wool over my husbands an my eyes and we have close to 30 years of teaching experience between the two of us. I had really high hopes for this school, but in the end was sorely disappointed.

Our family has had several different teachers between our kids and over the last few years. All were exceptional and bonded with our children.
Posted: April 25, 2019
As active parents we have spent a lot of time over the last few years at the school assisting however needed. I am still shocked how well all the kids (as a whole) act! The amount of respect the older grades show the little ones is not something you see everyday., at least I didn't.
Posted: April 25, 2019
Trivium's leadership is made up of a group of women that not only have loads of experience, but we feel they truly care for the children in a way not found in traditional settings.
Posted: April 25, 2019
Posted: April 25, 2019
Leadership doesn't tolerate bullying whatsoever. There were a few little ones that exhibited some bullying behavior and they either stopped or are no longer at the school. Bullying sticks out like a sore thumb since all the kids speak openly about how they should treat one another.

The key to healthy partnerships is that they are based on strong relationships. Much of Triviums success is due to the effort all the staff put in to knowing all the students and their families. In our opinion, the more we commit in our relationship to Trivium, through supporting the staff and recognizing that there are many perspectives to solving issues, the greater the chance of personal success for our children AND for the school as a whole.
Posted: March 26, 2019
Our previous experience of homework had appeared more like busy work, acting merely to lengthen the day rather than adding qualitative value to learning. As our children have moved through the grades, they have been given just enough to mean they are learning independent research skills and time management in meeting deadlines. More 'at home' practice (in the older grades) is always available upon discussion with individual teachers, should you want it.
Posted: March 26, 2019
We have been very fortunate to enjoy some excellent teaching from highly professional, dedicated teachers who are passionate and well-versed in their subjects. We have enjoyed relationships of mutual respect, even when discussing more challenging issues. We have felt listened to and that our opinions are valued. Our children have really benefited from the hands on, experiential style of learning and have specifically commented on the way teachers are willing to reinforce content and listen to their questions before moving onto new areas of learning.

Our children have grown in confidence as their academic skills have been both enriched and challenged. They have grown in confidence socially and emotionally as, within the confines of a smaller, family-style (k-12) school their opinions and contributions to the growth of the whole school community have been valued, taken seriously and used to positively influence systems and relationships.
Posted: March 26, 2019
Does Trivium offer something significantly different in our experience and opinion, absolutely yes. Trivium is a community built on a clear vision. That vision, and the expectations we can have based on that vision, are what makes the school stand out. Our children have never before known such a wholistic approach to their education. The aim at Trivium is to see the whole and therefore create an environment and provide opportunities which allow students to develop not only academically but also socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Does everything always happen as we'd expect - not always - but the beauty of the Trivium Staff is that they recognise their strengths and yet are humble about the progress needed to continue the school on it's path of success.

We are firm believers that education is a partnership between the family, the school community and the wider community. We have seen this reinforced through the respect we have felt when making suggestions or raising our concerns or opinions to the Founders and staff. We have seen this reinforced through the events held at the school as like-minded parents have pulled together to provide unique experiences (the growing garden project, the chicken coop, sponsoring free field trips through Parents in Education (P.I.E) to name just a few examples).
As the old adage goes, Rome was not built in a day. As a new educational venture, Trivium is still in its youth¸ but with that comes the vibrancy and expectation of all that the future holds and based on the last three years, the future looks pretty exciting!

There is no homework in elementary. Our evenings are not filled with papers. There is room for things I want him to learn. We switched 3 weeks into the school year and at the other school he had a homework packet due every Friday. He would complete it but it took alot of effort on my part and he didn't enjoy it at all. This is in kindergarten and I could see where the weeknights were headed...
Posted: February 4, 2019
This is our first year and he adores his teacher. She is responsive whenever I have questions and he is always happy to go. I get a weekly email review and folders are sent home week once a week so that I can see his progress.
If she needs to inform me of something she does. For example, she called me ask if I knew his pencil grip was incorrect and if it was ok to try and get him to adjust it. They also do not have behavioral folders which I really like because his entire day is not reduced to a smile or a frown.

My son repeats much of this at home. It is obvious she is cultivating an inclusive environment where kindness and respect are valued.

Leadership is involved in all aspects of the day. They work together and that is nice to see. They are doing what most of us hope for our children. Pursing a vision and making it a reality.

As a parent of two children at Trivium Academy, I have been very pleased with our experience here for the last 3 years. The children come first here, and the school strives to make learning fun and experiential. Genius hour, brain breaks, multiple recesses, spark labs, flexible seating and more. Our kids are sad when school is on break for the summer and can't wait to go back. They are not drained from the stress of school, instead school sparks their curiosity and I find them wanting to learn constantly even at home because of it. The founders have a heart of gold for these kids, and we are blessed to be a part of this academic community. I've gotten to know a lot of the students here. Trivium has given these kids back the wonderment of childhood and they are blossoming as leaders, artists, writers and more because of it. Exceptional fine arts program. Come here and watch your child unfold!

The school's no homework policy in elementary school has taken the pressure off of our limited family time on weeknights. The teachers and leadership value the whole child, and it shows through this policy. As a parent, I'm grateful for this quality time they have given our family back!
Posted: February 3, 2019
Trivium teachers are passionate about the vision of our school. They are here because they want to make a difference in each child's life. I have told other prospective parents that often at Trivium when a child is having a behavior issue, the admin look at the teachers to figure out how the environment is triggering a child's behavior. They understand that behavior is a sign of an unmet need, and are here to help figure out those needs so that the child can learn appropriately. In my heart, that's a rare and invaluable gift you can give a child.
Posted: February 3, 2019
When we're out at events with other schools, people remark at how respectful and kind our Trivium students are. The teachers and admin love these kids, and they feel it. Not just the little ones, but especially the older students. Once a child feels truly loved - integrity, compassion and respect follow naturally as character traits.
Posted: February 3, 2019
You'll see the principal at regional conferences down to sweeping the floor and helping in the lunchroom. She doesn't just know every kid's name, she sees them for who they are and what they need. The founders stay true to their passion - in the three years we've been there, that light has never burned out. They are here for the kids, and it shows.
Posted: February 3, 2019
As a parent of a child with special needs, I've seen firsthand how dedicated the staff is to tending to his needs. I came from a mentality that you had to "fight" for your kid's services. I had to unlearn that when I came to Trivium. It's clear we're in this together - they are just as invested in seeing our child flourish as we are. They held our hand through the entire process, and our child is thriving - beyond even our highest expectations. Our child is understood and valued here.
Posted: February 3, 2019
The school has a family feel, in which the needs of each child are valued. I know that I can lean upon the administration and teachers if bullying was ever an issue. In our personal experience of a minor situation, it was addressed immediately and effectively. The well-being of the child is of their utmost interest.

Students at Trivium work and play hard during the school day, and are not expected to spend their evening doing homework. This creates ample time for extracurricular activities and family time. Our family has loved having these evening hours.

Our experience at Trivium has exceeded our expectations in a multitude of ways. Trivium is more than a school because students are given the opportunity to make choices. These choices empower the students to work harder, value eachothers input and use creativity daily.

Wonderful! I found a school that embraces my children for who they are as learners and allows them to learn with the wonder of a child. They want to go to school each day and have grown academically, socially, and emotionally in the two and a half years they have been a part of Trivium Academy. As a parent, I am informed and kept in the loop about their progress in all areas. I feel very much a part of the community of the school and couldn't dream up a better school for my two children. I feel they are prepared and on the path to success as one enters middle school next year and the other is in upper elementary grades. The set up of the 3E's and progression through the learning process creates engaged learners without added stress and pressure.

The teachers do what is best for kids in any and every situation. The teachers have freedom to choose and access to best teaching practices that engage and motivate students. My children love coming to school and are always able to tell me specifically what they learned or did every day.

I strongly agree with this statement. Morning meeting activities focus on character development and teachers guide and direct students to act with integrity, compassion, and respect. It is amazing to see this kind of character development take place among the youngest to the oldest students.

The leadership desires to do what is best for kids and makes every decision with that in mind. It is evident that the goal of the leadership is to create a school that fosters community, learning, and positivity.

I strongly agree with this statements. Students are taught using best practices and learning differences are supported in a variety of ways, depending on the needs of the student. The classroom teachers and special education teachers work closely to make decisions and implement the best teaching practices and methods for each student.

The community environment and vigilance by teachers and students allows them to deal effectively with bullying. Teachers conduct morning meetings that focus on kindness and strategies to build each other up. Students are also taught to stand up for others and to recognize the difference between bullying and a student who makes a poor choice with words or actions. Teachers are responsive and receptive to students telling them when any of this behavior occurs. I am impressed with the communication and social and emotional care that is given to all children at this school.

With a no homework policy for the lower school grades and a reasonable amount of homework for my older student, we are able to enjoy family time AND our children are not stressed out by school or having to stay up late to finish an unreasonable amount of homework
Posted: February 2, 2019
My children feel safe, valued and cared for by their teachers. Because of a smaller school environment they are able to better connect with their teachers and still maintain connections with their previous-year teachers. Their teachers make a point to get to know them, ask about their interests and many times attend their after school events to cheer them on. I appreciate the time invested in our children.

My children are happy here. They feel appropriately challenged academically, have built strong friendships, feel heard and valued by their teachers and I have watched their self-esteem increase greatly over their past three years at Trivium Academy.

The leadership of this school is top notch and they are driven to make the school a great learning environment for the children that go there. They are experienced, talented and caring.

Learning differences can encompass many different things from those clinical in nature to those caused by a parents military deployment.
The teachers and leadership have demonstrated their capability to address each of those types of challenges.

Let me begin by saying that I have very high expectations based on having graduated from the consistently top ranked private school in Dallas. That being said, our familys first two years at Trivium have been phenomenal. The schools leadership is excellent because they have the talent and experience needed to create the right environment for students to excel.
Like other top performing schools, there is a plan and a vision at Trivium. That vision was shared with me at the information night when I first visited the campus and I have consistently seen it in practice.
Obviously, each student is different, and I have seen the teachers and school leadership strive to help each student become successful and grow academically and personally.
This is a great school.

For the grade levels offered, the approach to homework hits the mark. Relentless drilling on a subject covered during the school day doesnt create more successful students and the administration understands that.
Posted: February 1, 2019
The teachers are very effective. My child is strong willed (I know that comes from me) and her teachers have been fantastic at channeling that into makings a successful student.
Posted: February 1, 2019
With TWO children whom have duxlexia, we have been incredibly blessed with their dynamic and encouraging approach.
Posted: February 1, 2019
Have heard not had issue with this... the students are kind and I would assume, knowing their stance, they wouldnt allow this to become an issue as they teach and value respect.
Posted: February 1, 2019
We have had nothing but incredible educators in our past 3 years! It has been a true blessing!
Posted: February 1, 2019
Very much so. They value the old school approach of character matters that most schools fail to acknowledge.
Posted: February 1, 2019
Never had an issue and everyone is so kind and informative as well as passionate about what they do.

We came into this school with high expectations and we have been blown away with the love and genuine care our daughters receive. Our children adore the staff, have made incredible friends, and developed a true love of learning through their approach and guidance. This school is REMARKABLE.

Appreciatebthey emphasis they put on family time and appreciating childhood
Posted: February 1, 2019
Our kids have grown so much in their academics, as well as their confidence. The staff truly loves the kids.

10/10. We are thrilled that we made the jump to join this school. We recognize that this is a new school and there will be some growing pains but the team is absolutely committed to the children and parents and I have every confidence that this school will continue to excel over the next several years.

I am both thankful for and truly believe in their homework policy for the younger grades. The lack of regular homework gave my family our evenings back. Gone is the mad rush for homework, dinner, bath, bed. We can now focus on true quality time without the stress. I have seen my child grow more in one semester with the lack of pressure and increased freedom to simply be a kid than I ever thought to be possible.
Posted: February 1, 2019
The teachers have done a great job at identifying my child's strengths and weaknesses. At Trivium they have the freedom and ability to better structure curriculum to the individual to help each child thrive. I have seen this happen with my child and I am confident I am not alone. They have all been great at consistently communicating what is going on in the classroom and are easily accessible to you as a parent.
Posted: February 1, 2019
They allow the students to be true to themselves, inspire creativity and support independence. They do not try to place them in a box which will help them all to grow as individuals and define their character as they grow.
Posted: February 1, 2019
The Leadership at Trivium demonstrates a passion for education that I have not seen in our school life thus far. Every member of the Leadership team has been easily accessible and visible to both me and my child. I have never seen Leadership so involved in every aspect of every day. My daughter knows them each by name and is excited to see them each every day.

The freedom that each teacher has to modify or create a curriculum to each student is unmatched. We started at Trivium this year shortly after Labor Day, the teachers did an excellent job at getting my daughter up to speed and re-instilled a love for learning that had been disappearing over the last year.
Posted: February 1, 2019
I can speak to this as a parent that did have a bullying issue this year. I sent a message to the teachers to share my concerns and they each quickly monitored and addressed the situation. They maintained consistent communication with me as a parent to make sure that the issue was resolved and that my daughter was doing well. We have had no further issues and I am confident they continue to keep an eye on my daughter's interactions with her prior bully. How they chose to handle the situation gave my daughter confidence in knowing that she can have faith in and trust in her teachers.

Amazing! We could not be more happy with our choice to send our daughter to Trivium! We really struggled with the decision because our neighborhood School is fantastic but I really think we made the right choice. She loves it and is learning so much.

Limited homework in elementary makes for more time for our extra curricular and family time.
Posted: January 12, 2019
Weve been at Trivium for 2 years and both of the teachers that our child has had have been experienced and amazing. Not to mention we love all the specials teachers as well.
Posted: January 12, 2019
I know that they do morning meeting every day to build community and we love the buddy boxes that teach my only child how to share and work well with others.
Posted: January 12, 2019
As a teacher, one of the reasons that we choose Trivium is that I know first hand that passionate teachers and administartion make for a great education. I have never met more passionate people than the people that started Trivium. They work a harder and care more than anyone I have ever met.
Posted: January 12, 2019
As of right now, I dont see that my child has learning differences, but from what I have seen, the are very welcoming and supportive of students with special needs.

Disastrous. I have written lengthy reviews and deleted them. I think the best course of action for me is to file a complaint with the state of Texas. I would caution parents twho are considering enrolling at Trivium.
I hope that more importance is placed on not wasting valuable time towards your child's education. The one thing parents say about Trivium is that their child is happy. Unfortunately when the happiness runs out you are still left with a poor education and lost time.

I love that there is a no homework policy for lower school; we have enjoyed spending quality time together outside

Teachers have poured their hearts into the lessons and kids. They truly see these kids.

Posted: January 2, 2019
The students seem to be respectful. If a situation arises where a child isnt making good choices, administration seems to act quickly on it. If the child continues to make bad choices after being placed on a behavioral help program, they will be expelled.
Posted: January 2, 2019
Staff seems to work well with each other.
Posted: January 2, 2019
The school will place your child on a 504 program. You must, however, be actively involved in making sure your child is following the protocol established with the committee. The teachers have 25+ kids they are managing, so you need to be actively involved to make sure your child is getting what she needs in and out of the classroom. Organizing your child is key to their success, especially since the classrooms are so free flowing.
Posted: January 2, 2019
The school will not put up with bullying. Another thing I love about the school is they will expel a child if they feel any
children are in physical or emotional danger. For those posts that state they did not effectively deal with bullying is subjective. The Administration will hold a meeting with all parties to discuss the events that arose. In our case, the child claiming they were being bullied was bullying another student and my child intervened.

Overall, we have had a very good experience at the school. We love the amazing families and staff at the school.
Negatives are some classes can be disorganized at times. Carpool is hard to get in and out of, especially in the morning, due to school hours.
Positives are two recess breaks per day, collaborative projects, non-traditional seating in classrooms, supportive teachers, Spanish program, PE teachers, outside lunches are brought in, friendly staff, and life skills such as growing crops.
Posted: January 2, 2019
The school constitutes a no homework policy so that children can focus on family, extra curricular activities, and limiting anxiety around getting school work done at home. There are positives and negatives to this methodology. Some parents may not like this methodology because it limits the parents knowledge of what is being learned in the classroom. If parents are looking for a traditional environment, then this school may not be for you and your child.
Posted: January 2, 2019
Some of the reviews mentioned teachers getting fired or quitting. I love this about our school. If a teacher isnt performing accurately, then the administration can let them go immediately. This is not the case in a traditional public school. During the first two years, the school definitely had some growing pains, but that was a known. Curriculum had to be established and hiring had to be done. Some worked out while others didnt. Currently, the teachers and administrators care about our children. They are continuously working together to transform Trivium into a better institution.

They are terrible, it is a revolving door. Teachers come and go throughout the entire year. Your child might have 1-4 different teachers. They quit. Staff is obnoxious and petty.
Posted: November 10, 2018
My daughter has been told she is a liar, cheater etc. by a teacher!!! NEVER has my daughter had an Issue with ANY teacher or been told she is a cheater! Tacky and unprofessional. Like dealing with a bunch of small children up there!
Posted: November 10, 2018
They want to make money. Their bison is not a reality. I cant begin to tell the stories of the kids that have left that school and are now attending therapy.
Posted: November 10, 2018
Nope! They put my daughter in the room with her bully and told them to work it out. Last I heard, that is the last thing youd do to any child being bullied.
Posted: November 10, 2018
-0 Dont waste your time and dont rush your childs educational future. If you want your child to go to collleg, they will not be prepared by going to Trivium.
Posted: November 10, 2018
They claim to follow the curriculum of LISD, that doesnt happen! My daughter said she felt like she wasnt getting any education at this school.
Posted: September 7, 2018
The only homework elementary has is reading every night and then any class work they didnt get done. Evening are for families, not meaningless busy work.
Posted: September 7, 2018
Weve had more amazing teachers here in 2 years than in any other school over 8 years.
Posted: September 7, 2018
This school creates happy kids. Happy kids are respectful and have compassion for others.
Posted: September 7, 2018
The admin actually listens to your concerns and acts on them. They advocate for the parents as well. Not many schools do that.
Posted: September 7, 2018
So much! We have one on the spectrum and he is THRIVING!!!!
Posted: September 7, 2018
We had an issue the first year and I talked to the vice principal. She handled it that day and it was never an issue again!
Posted: September 7, 2018
Amazing! My kids actually want to go to school. They are thriving and learning and said theyd never go back to their old school.
Posted: August 29, 2018
Bullying is hard because the definition is a moving target. The admin loves these kids and hold their safety with high regard. They have zero tolerance for any physical bullying and have the authority to remove those students permanently.
Posted: August 29, 2018
My kids have happy at school and at home. They are sad when it is summer and they do not get to go.
Posted: August 29, 2018
The lower school has no homework so that the afternoons can be spent playing outside and creating games at home. It allows us to be a family.
Posted: August 29, 2018
There is a balance between new teachers and seasoned ones. All the teachers the last two years have been amazing - teaching my kids where they are (I have one that excels and one that struggles).
Posted: August 29, 2018
These kids have a kind of unity not found in our public school. Teachers reinforce empathy (at the appropriate and evolving range) and kindness.
Posted: August 29, 2018
They have the biggest hearts and love each kid. The master plan is well thought out, but at times not communicated as well as can be. However, the vision is beautiful and execution takes time and refinement.
Posted: August 29, 2018
I know for the GT, they try really hard to establish a program that helps them progress at their pace and allows creativity in presenting to those who learn differently.
Posted: August 15, 2018
When administration doesnt have any of these qualities, it cannot be taught to the children.
Posted: August 15, 2018
I am not sure, thus the score provided.
Posted: August 15, 2018
When the parents participate in the bullying, and administration allow/encourages it, you know you have a problem on your hands.
Posted: August 15, 2018
No homework is a great thing. When kids are transferred to another school and they are behind their peers, its a bad thing!
Posted: August 15, 2018
Teachers have a hands off approach when it comes to discipline and bullying. Kids are bullied all year long, and teachers and admin does nothing to resolve the problem.
Posted: August 15, 2018
Think long and hard before deciding to enroll your kids into this school. Class sizes are much bigger than advertised, clubs are limited in number and limit the amount of children, and frankly their state rating speaks for itself in terms of academics.
