As a family member of a student who attended this school, I feel a responsibility to speak candidly for the benefit of other families evaluating their options. What occurred here was not a matter of isolated misjudgment—it reflected a deeply concerning culture that failed a child in a fundamental way.

I personally witnessed a pattern of racially biased treatment directed at my relative by a specific teacher. The disparity in how this child was spoken to, disciplined, and evaluated compared to peers was both stark and unacceptable. It was not subtle, and it was not open to interpretation.

What is perhaps even more alarming is the administration’s response—or lack thereof. These concerns were escalated through appropriate channels with the expectation of accountability, professionalism, and corrective action. Instead, the response was dismissive and ineffective, allowing the behavior to persist without meaningful intervention. That level of institutional indifference is, in many ways, more troubling than the original conduct.

Families entrust schools not only with their children’s education, but with their well-being, dignity, and safety. In this case, that trust was clearly misplaced. No child should be subjected to biased treatment, and no family should have to advocate this hard to be heard—only to be ignored.

If you are considering this school, I strongly encourage you to ask difficult questions about how concerns are handled, how equity is enforced, and what accountability truly looks like in practice. Based on our experience, I would not place a child in this environment.

THIS SCHOOL IS SO DISGUSTING AND I HOPE YOU NEVER SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE! There is so much profanity on the walls, floors, and in classrooms. They also are disrespectful to the kids and my daughter came home saying that if they say a curse word in class, they have to pay the teacher. Never go here

I am a student at IDEA Mesquite Hills. I have been here for 2024-2025 (sixth grade for me) and 2025-2026 (seventh grade for me) school years
Although MOST of the teachers are nice, some teachers give out overwhelming pieces of work.
The problem isn't the teachers, but mainly the students. In my experience, the general student culture struggles with inclusivity, and students who are perceived as "different" may feel left out. I've observed staff consistently implementing generalized class punishments rather than addressing individual behaviors leading to the issues. The school environment doesn't seem to consistently foster respect among the students, and instances of bullying are a noted issue that has affected the learning system. Some behaviors have gotten to the point of making teachers quit their jobs.

The school currently offers a highly focused range of extracurricular activities, primarily centered on competitive sports. the available options are currently: basketball, soccer, cheer, dance, flag football, cross country, and volleyball. There's also an unofficial, student-hosted art club, being the only current creative outlet, highlighting the lack of school-sponsored creative options.
In the future, I hope the school considers adding more diverse activities to support a wider range of student interests. Programs such as: theater, music/band (traditional or concert), flag dance/color guard, and fandom clubs like anime and object shows would greatly enrich the student experience and social environment.
