My child started at BASIS Plano in 2025 as a kindergarten student, and we are now in 1st grade. We cannot say enough great things about the school. Since 2025, we have seen significant improvements in both operations and communication.

The teachers have been fantastic, and my child is learning so much while genuinely enjoying school. There are definitely homework expectations, which many of our friends with children in traditional public schools do not seem to have. However, I can see a clear difference in my child’s academic discipline, study habits, and overall approach to learning.

Basis has high academic expectations, and families should come in expecting a more rigorous environment than they may be accustomed to in a traditional public school. For our family, that has been a very positive experience, and we have been extremely happy with the education our child is receiving.

We have had a wonderful experience with BASIS Plano. The school sets high expectations for students while also encouraging independence, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning.

What has impressed us most is how much the teachers and staff truly care about the students. They communicate with parents, recognize when a child may need additional support, and work with families to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The expectations are high, but they are paired with structure, consistency, and encouragement.

We also really appreciate the school's focus on personal responsibility. Students are encouraged to become more independent, learn from mistakes, and develop the habits they will need as they get older. As a parent, I value that tremendously.

The academics are definitely more rigorous than many people expect, even in the younger grades. When I talk about BASIS with other parents, they are often surprised to hear that even kindergarten students have homework and assessments. For our family, that structure has been a positive experience. Our child comes home talking about what he is learning and excited to share new things with us. It is clear that the teachers put a great deal of effort into making the material engaging and meaningful.

Like any rigorous school, BASIS may not be the perfect fit for every family, particularly if you are looking for a more relaxed academic environment. But for families who value strong academics, clear expectations, independence, and a structured approach that encourages students to take ownership of their learning, BASIS Plano has been an excellent choice for our family.

We are very happy to be part of the BASIS Plano community and are grateful for the teachers and staff who work so hard for these students.
