This is, by far, the worst school my children have ever attended, and I genuinely wish I had transferred them somewhere else much sooner.

Before enrolling here, my children attended another district, where they made strong academic progress through elementary schooleven during the challenges of COVID-19. They entered this campus in 6th grade for middle school, and from that point forward, I watched their academic growth slow significantly, and in some cases go down. Looking at the campus's TEA performance data, the overall academic results have also declined or remained stagnant. When a school's average student performance falls below the "Meets Grade Level" standard, that should be a concern for both families and the district.

Academics were only part of the problem. There were frequent fights, and at times staff members behaved more like the students than the adults responsible for mentoring and setting an example. Families were charged for what seemed like nearly everything, and favoritism appeared to exist throughout the campusfrom administration to athletics, classrooms, and band. It was so obvious that it didn't seem like anyone was even trying to hide it.

For a campus that promotes opportunities for gifted and talented students, my experience was the opposite. Rather than encouraging students to reach their full potential, it often felt like they were being held back. In my opinion, this campus deserves much closer oversight from GISD. There are serious concerns about the school's culture, consistency, and overall environment that should not be ignored.

Based on our family's experience and observations of others experience's as well, I would not recommend this school to other parents.

I went here and it was bad. The teachers don't care about the students. The bathrooms were nasty. I graduated last year. I would give this school 0 stars if I could. Overall 1 star, send your kids to Jackson tech, they will thank you for that.

There are always fights, some bathrooms dont work, there is bullying, there have been problems with gas leaks, students have threatened to do bad things against the school, the students far from being exemplary are mean (most of them), they smoke in the bathrooms and I have heard rumors that they even do drugs, the teachers like to give you a dress code for meaningless things like not wearing the collar of your shirt, there is also the problem that some teachers seem to simply despise the 8th graders. If I had to rate how seriously they take physical harassment and bullying I would give them a 4/10, they only take you seriously when your parents go to complain, but on their own they dont pay attention to you no matter how many reports you file. This school ruined my mental health, I suffered several harassments and they didnt seem to care.

Teachers put hands on students snatching them up and when its reported there are excuses made and the teacher retaliated . Teachers unprofessional. Daughter needed help and when she raised her hand was told to put it down because the teacher said she should know and would not repeat for notes after my daughter failed the test that covered the subject I brought this to the teacher attention and the next day she told my daughter your too old to tell your mom everything. Stay away from coyle bad staff teachers and principal

This school is horrible my son has complained and complained that Pierson Phan has continually treat him unfairly this is unacceptable he cries every single day about what this teacher dose

We just came to this district, and there is some issue every single week and its only the 3rd month. The fundraiser is literally them wanting the parents friends, family, and coworkers numbers and emails to spam to ask for donations. This is unlike any fundraiser I have ever heard, no event, they are not selling anything, no car wash, just asking for money. Money has been asked for every single week. Today the children if they didnt want to twin with someone , would get their electives taken away from them for not participating. I could go on and on with the issues we have had, and its just now the end of the 1st semester. If I knew how drastically different this school district was compared to RISD, I would have found a different place to live. Oh also, learned this, if a child misses two days of school in a row, very possible you may get a pop up from someone at the school for a house visit. Maybe I am getting old, but have never heard of such a thing. I will be looking into any other school to have my kids at.

I swear this is one of the worst schools I have ever gone to not only were the teachers rude the kids were too, the fights were horrible almost every day the high score 7 in a day that is not a good thing that makes me sick to my stomach like the food does I have thrown up so many times and I started bring my lunch because of it. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND GOING HERE.

A student recently went through a lot of horrible things due to bullying. My son was being pushed around in gym but the teacher was too busy on his phone to notice. He had to text me when I was at work so I could guide him on how to handle it.

There are a few teachers that do a good job and are there to help make a difference with the kids. However, some of them need to learn not to yell and probably should just retire.

My son attended Coyle 11 years ago and we had a pretty good experience and the principal was amazing. Fast forward now my daughter is in 6th grade this has been the worst five months in my time as a Mother and I can not imagine being a student at this school. There is no discipline or consequences for the disrespectful out of control kids. My daughter is being harassed and bullied, we are in the process of removing her. I strongly suggest to anyone considering this school to please do your research and find a different school. The teachers are past the point of helping. I believe most of them have been there so long they have given up. They are out of touch and probably exhausted from all the problem kids but it is affecting the students that are trying to get an education.

WORST school ever!!!! My daughter's first and LAST year there. At the beginning of the year, my daughter was struggling with math. Met with Dr. Barrett to try to come up with solutions to help my daughter. Instead of helping, she stated to me, " Your daughter isn't the only kid struggling." and then proceeded to walk out of the meeting that I thought we were still having. I'm left standing there in disbelief because I'm not believing that this woman just walked out of our meeting.. and I definitely can't believe what she just said to me. RUDE!!!! And, my daughter has also been jumped on by two other girls there and nothing was really done about that situation. I encourage any and every parent, who has a well disciplined and smart kid, to RUN the other way and don't think twice about sending your kid to Coyle Middle School. Trust me, it will definitely be a waste of a good school year and you will be disappointed with the principal and some of the staff.

Safety for students is not a priority at this school. The large group of out of control students and their parents run the school and the principals back those students and the parents. There is no discipline, consequences or concern for the challenging, difficult and disrespectful students. They are allowed to disrupt the classroom and it is the teachers that are questioned about how they handle the student, rather than understanding that it is the students that should be reprimanded. The students that are the good students feel threatened and bullied by the other students and watch helplessly as the other students continue to badger the teachers, disrupt the learning and get away with it. Many parents have pulled their child from this school and Many more should consider it.

This is the best school ever the students are very friendly and the teachers are very educated and the athletics are wonderful I definetly recommend this school to everyone!!!!

The school administration needs work. They are extremely unorganized. They use an automated calling program to give messages to the parents. Sometimes I will get the same recorded call three times in one night, with three different school administrators having recorded the same or similar message that they did not bother to rehearse beforehand. The school was built in 1973, and it has taken 40 years for them to figure out that they have no structured pick up/drop off plan. Traffic there is a nightmare.
