As someone who went to this school for almost three years, I feel like my review is accurate.

I feel like a lot of the staff at this school care about the students wellbeing, but the staff members who don’t make the effort make the support of others feel small.

In 6th grade I’d say everything went fine, I had the struggles of a pre-teen but at least the teachers actually taught me something.

In 7th grade I had a teacher who made school miserable. He wouldn’t teach the students and couldn’t care less about my wellbeing. He only checked up on me for the “tea.” Due to this I feel into a horrible mental state and even got manipulated into dating someone who abused me mentally and physically. Luckily the vice principal cared enough to put a “safety agreement” in place. But learning wise, if you pay attention and study yes, you can get an education.

Finally, in 8th grade things just continued getting worse. I don’t think my teachers liked me and the counselor made everything worse. By December I had panic attacks three times a week without much support. But I did have one teacher who helped me so much, and I’ll forever be grateful for it. In January I left the school because of my mental health. It wasn’t even my education, this place just didn’t give me support. I had one teacher in the 8th grade who helped me feel good about myself, but that’s the counselor’s job and he couldn’t even do it properly.

If you want to take your kids to this school, go ahead, they’ll still get an education. Just make sure they’re doing okay mentally. That goes for all pre teens/teens though so don’t let my review determine everything.

Sellers was a great school to attend when Mr. Mays was principal. I would even say it was a great school prior to the leadership of Mr. Mays. There is a new principal there who is trying to make a difference by improving performance and operational management. The year that I left the school, there was more than 50 staff members who also left. The administrators were visibly fighting with each other. This was having a negative impact on overall school performance. Sellers was the school that had proven that all students can achieve beyond normal expectations.

My kid goes to sellers and got bullied by a group of kids in the parking lot across from the school. sellers isn’t doing anything to help my children feel safe. I’m taking my kid out of this school. The teachers are very hateful to my kids and picks in them also.

I would never send my children to Sellers Middle School. They have staff members who play roles as priciples, teachers, and counslors who do not give their best interest in their students. You want to send your students to a school were staff members give your children growth, good morals and are in the best intrest of preparing them for high school. This school fails at making sure its a safe environment for students. They dont acknowledge top tier education which should be the number one reason a student goes to school. They do not take bullying serious here, its more of them ignoring the issue and letting it happen rather then making it a safe place for students. Sources state in fact that 1 out of every 5 middle school students are being bullied or has been in the position. The teachers here know students get bullied in their very own classroom and dont bring it to the parents or admistrations attention. Its the staffs responsibiliy to play their role as a civilzed educator as well as it is to keep the students safe. My brother has experinced all of this and i would not want any one else to go through the poor staffing here at this school. I too, am a former student who is now an adult and it was not the best school as well. However, it seems it has only gotten worser through out the years. Please take this into consideration while choosing a good school for your child because this definetly is not the one to choose for yours.

The BEST AVID school in the nation, fantastic staff, and the students are well-behaved and act their age, no complaints from me, the office staff is terrific, and constructive in worst-case scenarios, they practice drills every month and it always wows me how well the students take them seriously, you should 100% send your child here, also, not to mention, their athletics program is amazing, a bunch of championships hung up on the wall in the gym and can't forget they are a magnet school and global business and language, your child will love this school, it's a very safe school no harsh punishment, no fights, no discrimination, and they always try to get the family involved, counselors are available all the time and super helpful, can't wait for 8th grade at Sellers Middle School.

Well I really like my school now we don't have to wear belts ,we can carry our phones ,and on Friday we can wear any color jeans ( for a dollar ) . this is my second year at sellers ( I'm in 7th grade ) ,but the ONLY thing I don't like is that we have to pay a dollar for jeans on Friday ... That sucks right but maybe next or hopefully this year they change that

i know this school inside and out as a student that went here this school is only worried about the rules dont get me wrong everything school should have boundaries and rules but this school is not the best they will accuse you of being in the game too much I was accused of being a game also I have got two or more tickets in one year just because I warmly shorts blue shorts and blue shirts but then I know what you thinking isn't that dress code? so Garland low test scores as well hope you make the right decision the movie you're kid to any school you want and make sure that your kid is pleased have a nice summer c;

This school is by far the worst school in Garland. The Principal doesn't really focus on the school's Academic progress. All he does is worry about what color socks the kids are wearing. My kids didn't even know what a gang was until they went to this school The saddest part is they learned it from the School staff (especially principal) because they say that by wearing mismatch socks "it's considered gang related"! Really, when most of the 6th graders are failing this is the least he should be worried about. I pray that the school gets shut down or a new principal. The teahers are really not that bad, but they are worried on the "school rules" instead of teaching right! I am changing my kids ASAP, the only thing holding me back is the waiting list for all the good schools in GISD are pretty long.

This is honestly a terrible school. But most are in Garland. If you have kids who will be going to school, try not to move into this area. It has low test scores, and a lot of violence goes on. There isn't enough rules, and kids get bullied to often.

im very happy about this schol with my challenging work and very well working teachers to help kids out with anything im a 8th grader and thi is my first year at sellers and im so happy that i moved out from a worst school and i wold recommend this school five star even if its old:)

As a teacher, Sellers is the best there is. There is great administrative support, technology in the classroom, and awesome staff to work with. I have taught there twice. I left and came back. I would return again if given the chance.

I love this school my child got his first straight A's in this school. My son has been doing Great and I am going to put my daughter in this school next year.
