I understand it is not necessarily up to each individual teacher and more of a district/state decision, but too much homework is given. The kids spend seven hours a day in a desk with one break for lunch, and one for PE. By the time they get home it is hard to fit in family time, extra curricular activities, dinner, baths, story time AND an hour or two hours of homework it is nearly impossible to go to bed at the appropriate time. Kids at this age should not have this much stress!

I am very happy with Harvey Elementary. This is my sons first year in school and he has learned SO much! He went in with out knowing his letter or numbers or anything and is now reading books IN PRE K 4! His teachers have always kept open communication with me and the staff is very friendly. I feel very comfortable knowing that his learning and safety is priority at Harvey. I look forward to having my son move on to kindergarten at the same school.

My granddaughter loved this school. She particularly liked the Accelerated Reader program and likes to read because the love of reading was instilled in her while she was at Harvey. This school has gone through a middle of the year move to a beautiful new building. Even through the change, I knew that she was in good hands. Thank you teachers for working with my granddaugher.

The old school was torn down. The new school will open January, 2011. There is a new staff and a new beginning. The staff that is coming to Harvey is the one that was at Lamar. Check out the Lamar ratings and you will have an idea what kind of school Harvey is now.

If this school is so bad how is this school still open and dealing with students?

7 children have been denied special ed services through KISD....... their excuse is, they don't have the funding! Well that is NOT the children's fault. They have to by law to provide services to children..........This school needs to be thoroughly investigated for violating children's civil rights! I find out more children are getting denied, as time goes by. The school district should be ashamed!
