Bullying is barely enforced. Its just a stop it now and they call it fine. The rest is super good they just suck at stopping bullying

This school is honestly very educational. But not very helpful with disabilitys and bullys. Ive had quite a few people I know that dress different or act different get bullied and none of them get help no matter how hard they try. My personal experience is going through teasing and bullys because of my appearance.

In my experience forestwood has been little to no help when it comes to bullying and harassment. My 6th grade year was horrible here and the people who bullied me only 1 got detention when there was well over 30. The counselors are nice, SPED program is amazing with great teachers and great student Aids. I would not recommend this school for anyone who dresses different or looks different than the normal. Do not let your child go to this school.

Love this school sm. I switched to virtual learning, and I miss this school. The staff are super supportive, they help you with anything. The punishment system is great. Only reason why I chose four stars is the kids. Kids there are horrible.

I love forestwoodms! The teachers are amazing and I feel like I have learned so much sense I got here. Last year the school got repainted and now it looks really good. The principals are amazing and deal with conflicts really well. The (popular) boys table always gets in trouble and they do a good job of handling it. I do agree with the football field comment but they are trying there best to make it work with a small budget. I want to also say thank you to all of the teachers and principals at this school. This school is amazing so come!!!

My child attended Forestwood from 2017-2020. He had many excellent teachers and it is a great school. We had no issues with bullying or anything else really. I would highly recommend Forestwood.

Good Lord you'd think we're sending our kids to Dante's Fifth Circle if you read some of these reviews. Is Forestwood a perfect school? No. Is there such a thing that's publicly funded by your taxes? No. But the subtle distain if not overt hatred voiced by some people here for the staff and administration is out of bounds. I understand it's based on personal experiences but that's a focus group of one; the vast, silent majority of parents are more than pleased with Forestwood. If you and/or your child gets involved, you will be too.

My kid has homework several times a week and it never takes more than 15-20 minutes at the most. When asked why he doesn't have more homework during the week, he had a pretty simple answer. "It's because I listen during class and usually get it done before the bell rings."
Posted: February 25, 2020
My kid is the second one I've had attend Forestwood and I can say, without question or embellishment, the teachers here are fantastic. Have a question? They'll answer it. Send an email? They're respond to it (usually within the day). Have a concern? They'll listen and address it. Immediately after giving my kid detention (which he richly deserved), the teacher immediately contacted me with an explanation of the situation. The teacher then proceeded to inform me how well my kid was doing in class and what a joy he was to have around. I only wish everyone would show the kind of temperament, compassion and understanding Forestwood teachers do on a daily basis.

While "integrity, compassion and respect" should be taught in the home before being taught in school, Forestwood does a commendable job shaping kids into being more inclusive, more accommodating and more thoughtful when dealing with others (including the "Character Strong" program students experience every Wednesday). My kid has been both publicly and privately recognized for helping others, and that positive reinforcement leaves a lasting impression.

One story sums up the leadership at Forestwood. Several years ago, there was an online threat made against the school by a student. Threats, rumors of threats and rumors of rumors ran rampant. Leadership handled the situation with a level of professionalism that instilled confidence in our school system. An email was immediately sent to parents that evening and leadership addressed the situation with students during lunch the following day. Several parents criticized the school for not revealing more details; these were the ones who had no clue about privacy laws and, in part, helped fuel many of those rumors. Good job, Flower Mound Cares mom.
The safety and security of students and staff, unfortunately, are now the primary concern of any school administration and leadership at Forestwood simply couldn't have handled a bad situation any better.

Without going into detail, my kid has several documented learning difficulties. While hesitant to give him any overt accommodations (because will he have them later in the real world?), we worked with both the administration and his teachers to help him overcome those challenges. The kid got straight A's last semester for the first time in his life, and that was taking several pre-AP courses. So you tell meis that the sign of a school who effectively supports students with learning differences?
Posted: February 25, 2020
While I have no first-hand experience of my kid being bullied (or being the bully, for that matter), I do know we've talked about it at home as a family and he's never seen an overt act of bullying. I know that doesn't count for much, but he also summed it up like this"I've never seen it and besides, who has time for bullying? We all have enough stress in our lives as it is..."

I don't understand why their reviews were high. Bullying was swept under the table and administration was very weak.

My daughter is in 7th grade.
This school is excellent. They offer challenging courses in pre-AP and GT and have a good variety of electives, including robotics, which was really fun for her. The orchestra dept. is run by the most capable two ladies. They are truly gems!
I dont understand why some of the people here are complaining about too many rules in place, and academics being too hard. Shouldnt we want things to get more challenging, instead of easier? That is how life is. When they meet these challenges head on and succeed, it makes them better individuals to participate in the world.
The school has over 75% of their student population on the A, and AB honor rolls. Thats a major kudo!
I drop off and pick my kiddo on a daily basis. The majority of kids seem a well adjusted and non-pretentious bunch. My daughter is happy here, well as happy as a sullen tween can be, anyway.
Go Falcons!

I have been so impressed with the teachers at Forestwood Middle school. They utilize technology for parent/teacher communication so they can stay in touch regularly. Most teachers respond to email communication same day with a follow up email or phone call. My daughter has really enjoyed her pre-AP classes and has adjusted well from elementary school to middle school

My child entered this school and district during the 2017/18 school year because of a relocation. We had no idea what to expect. The registration process was a headache because our old district didn't provide adequate paperwork and the registrar dropped the ball. My child has some learning differences and needs intervention classes. They were not clear how all this would shake out. Both schools blamed the other and it was a nightmare. The vice principal was excellent and helped us get it all straight but not without a lot of stress. I have been fairly satisfied with my children's teachers. Some communicate better than others but for the most part they have all been good. When approached they have all bent over backward to help with any question or concern we may have. My child has done well here academically and has formed some friendships. I wish overall school commuication was better and that the teachers did weekly update/emails. The LISD system of parent commuication all the teachers use absolutely sucks. I would prefer a weekly or monthly update from the teachers directly but that is a district thing, not necessarily a school thing. Overall I am satisfied.

I went to this school for all of sixth grade and half of eighth grade. I was bullied in sixth grade and when I was trying to get into a different middle school for seventh grade, we found out it was never documented. The school is so caught up in trying to be an 'anti-bully' zone that they don't see it happening before they're very eyes. The teachers and staff never do anything to help students who are struggling. I was having trouble with something in my eighth grade LEAP class so I talked to my teacher. She said she was always there by 8:15 in the morning, but she didn't get there until 8:30. My younger brother was struggling in math and the teacher just gave him websites to go to. Most of the staff are very unfriendly and strict. They take the dress code WAY to seriously. If you were ever having any fun, you got called out on it. Forestwood is a terrible school, unless you're looking for military school. The kids were very mean and snobby. The school was way to strict with technology. I am glad that I am gone and will never have to see this place again. BOOO FALCONS!

If you love your children. Do not send them here. It will be an exercise in frustration and futility. The administration is clueless and the staff is lazy. Some of the teachers are good but, they are hampered by an inefficient and dysfunction system. If you can send them elsewhere.

This school is very substandard in academics and leadership. Staff is not friendly and does not care about students. Transfer to another school if you can!

Leadership at this school needs to let a fresh crew take over. Some of our friends are moving so that their children will not have to go to this school, and I am considering doing the same to protect my younger children. We have the same problem with schedules and lockers that another parent mentioned (every year). Not only that, but our daughter's face and eye were burned when a student threw a handful of cafeteria sanitizer all over her to be "funny". The principal refuses to relocate the open bucket of sanitizer that is sitting on a cafeteria window sill for anyone to mess with. We made a trip to the dermatologist for her skin burns as well as a trip to the eye doctor for where it burned her eye. Two prescriptions and two doctor bills, and the bucket is STILL out in the open, because he "isn't required to move it"!! What happens if someone fills their buddy's water bottle with this as a joke? Just because something isn't required of you, doesn't mean that you shouldn't look at it from a common sense standpoint! I hope no other child has to be hurt this way, but let's be real. It's a bucket full of chemicals left open in a middle school cafeteria.

This school is literally an abomination to the LISD education program. Everyone here is rude, unwelcoming and so caught up in drama and who has more than who that learning really doesnt even go on here. The teachers have favorites and so do the principals. The teachers also don't know how to teach. They're all lazy and sit behind their desks and give out books and worksheets. Please, save your kids and send them somehwere else.

I'am a student here at forestwood middle School and I'm very disappointed of how ridiculous Forestwood's learning environment is. I myself have a few good reasons why.... the students around me have nothing better to do but talk about sex and swear. I try to get away from the negative junk but it'll keep popin up once In a while. Now lets talk about the staff there very pathetic, rude, and lazy. I ounce got called into the office because my so called "friend" got me in trouble when I went to the AP's office she did not want to even hear my story well that right there is ridiculous the principals are very absurd. Even the teachers are rude and inpatient my parents are furious with this school and you better believe I'am to. The staff pick there favorite students and pick on the ones they don't care about and make it hard for them like me.I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone except for those that are extremely smart and fast at procesing the odds of that are very unlikely so therefore parents cross forestwood off the list if your thinking about enrolling your child here. Your hearing this from somebody that stands up for what is right and wrong !!!!!!

My daughter started here last year and was welcomed openly, even assigning a Falcon buddy to get her through the first day. The kids and teachers are accepting and she has very much enjoyed getting to know them. If I have one complaint it is that the teachers and staff baby the students a tad too much academically and that we were more accustomed to a heavier emphasis on science than what is taught here. The school also seems to hold music arts as a higher priority than athletics though they are supportive of both. Our experience has been the opposite of the poster that wrote the two reviews below.

This school does not care about students. They are most concerned about following self-imposed rules than actually educating students. They just happen to be lucky the school is an affluent neighborhood with concerned parents and an above average student population. The leadership is apathetic and unresponsive to any problems or concerns. There is no value placed on students actually learning anything. Actually teaching students is secondary to athletics, administrative glory, and paperwork exercises. If you value athletics first, send your children here. If you have a choice and value education don't.

Forest wood middle school is definitely an unsatisfactory. They have no what so ever leader ship established. If you like doing after school activities you can toss that out the window. Forest wood Middle school has not a single extra curricular activity except sports like football basketball volley ball and cross country. If you are in need of special education or a councilor, They have no well good original action teachers or helping services. The teachers seem to care more about the money then the kids. And the kids community is hard to enter. They are very un welcoming. I was not satisfied what so ever with forest wood

This school may have been fabulous at one time, as all of our neighbors have said how wonderful it was when their kids went there (10+ years ago). Our current experience two years in a row has been a school that does not have ANY plan or sense of urgency when it comes to providing schedules and working lockers to its students... not to mention a schedule that is accurate. Why do we fill out forms months in advance, only to be handed a schedule that is wrong (entire periods missing)? Some children do not even have schedules or lockers at all their first few days of class! It's insane to not work on these things early enough that you don't have frustrated parents and frustrated office staff for weeks. Get it together Forestwood. My middle school had NO problems putting schedules together during the early 90's... which was well before all of this "wonderful" technology LISD paid a fortune for. Oh, and let's not forget the millions of dollars spent on ipads. Hey, what about giving our kids the core classes they are required to take? What a concept! The school might be great if they could get it together instead of just winging everything... every year... over and over.

Forestwood Middle School: We had five kids go to this school. It is Top Notch and has more awards than any other LISD school in Flower Mound. It is accessible by the town trail system so kids can ride their bikes there in safety. The Principal is exceptional. Kids transfer to Flower Mound High School. If results is your criteria, then I ended up with West Point Graduate in Systems Engineering (Captain in 101st), a Emergency Room Doctor (UT and Penn State), a Mechanical Engineer (Penn State), a Massage therapist and a world champion Musician (Phantom Regiment).

Forestwood Middle School is a hidden gem of a school. Underappreciated. Their most recent TAKS scores were the highest in the district for a middle school. The school is not as overcrowded as some of the others and the teachers and administration take a sincere interest in the success of each student. The whole staff works together as a team to help the kids acheive. The principal is friendly and is omnipresent at every school event, daylight to dark. The building was recently updated and looks great. The student body is busy and engaged. The orchestra program is absolutely phenomenal. The orchestra director is challenging, but so much fun and the kids all love it. She takes up so much time getting to know each student and helping them not only with music, but navigating the choppy waters of middle school. The program is growing every year because the kids tell their friends. At contests, they get judges' comments like, "Sound like a high school orchestra" or "The best group we have heard all day". If your child has an interest in music, you won't find a better wprogram than the orchestra dept. at Forestwood Middle School in Flower Mound. We have been thrilled with this school.

I'm a student here at Forestwood. Its an okay school, I think the only reasons I go is first because of the Orchastra teacher. She is beyond supportive and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She is also the best teacher I've ever had in teaching wise. The 6th grade math teachers are wonderful (Mr. Swartz is my favorite) but in both 7th and 8th the math teachers fail. I give the teacher rating a 3, it would be a 1 if my orchastra teacher and my 6th grade math teacher didnt teach. I currently have 2 low C's, but that may just be me. Its a good school for the area. For sure!
