Little to no interactions with parents. No diversity and children of color are not protected

I agree with the previous reviewer. I would have written it exactly the same The only thing I might add, is that principal Higgins is wonderful. They need a no- tolerance, no nonsense leader at this school, with this group of kids and I think she does a terrific job keeping them in line. Shes been very polite and also quite frank every time Ive spoken with her which I very much appreciate. She started last year and Ive only seen positive changes.

We relocated from Saginaw area and had been warned of our daughter starting here at Chisholm Trail. I think all schools can have pros and cons, but this school has exceeded any expectations I have had in many ways over the last 1.5 years. I can be somewhat of an opinionated parent and when meeting with teachers and principals, we were always met with respect and a desire to understand. This school seems to actually truly care which is quite a rare gem these days. On top of the teachers and principals, we have experienced wonderful coaches and directors of both the band and choir. Ive been impressed with how much these staff members go above and beyond to make parents feel welcome and the kids celebrated. CT isnt the 1st place school across the district when compared to all the other middle schools in the area (as far as placing in sports and etc) theres a lot more rural life here compared to the rest - but the academics are fantastic and the level of care surpasses anything Ive experienced in years past (and we have a student about to graduate this year at another school) Ive been very happy with the entire staff and schooling. Its my understanding Mrs Higgins has vastly turned this school around after taking leadership in 2024 and has cultivate a safe and exciting learning experience. We are a proud Bulldog family. I felt the need to share our experience after having been so heavily warned against our move previously. The leadership and the service from these instructors has been very notable to me personal.

Assistant principal Higgins is absolutely rude and targets children especially the non white students. Worst school I ever ever had to deal with. No wonder this school has the rep it does! Absolutely insane!

I go here and It's pretty decent. Teachers are nice and actually put in physical Accommodations (Im in Athletics) in place unlike my last school that just completely ignored them. Only bad thing is that other kids would constantly get referrals, even ISS,OSS. There were a few students that actually went to DAEP. Good school but if your a student, just be careful. A few Teachers will give you an explanation but not for the question your asking. If your dealing with bullying it kinda takes a little bit to actually deal with the situation. Some kids are really disrespectful towards Teachers (yelling at them, disrespecting them, etc) Special Education or accommodations if you just have those are WONDERFUL! The helpers are really nice and understanding and try to deal with situations as quick as possible. Probably the best thing about this school! Not bad but not too good either, but more preferable than my last school :)

Again they preach anti bullying but do nothing about. Admin seem lazy and apathetic.

So disappointed in how bullying is allowed in this school. This is NOT the north west isd I grew up in.

I personally know of 3 kids that have left this school due to bullying that administration refused to do anything about

Bitterly disappointing. I cant believe how poorly run this campus is.

Many teachers dont communicate and leave kids to figure it out for themselves or fail.
Posted: January 10, 2019
Some are wonderful theres are horrific. The parent typically has to reach out to the teacher, not the other way around.

Some teachers are AWESOME, but others want to be friends of the kids and will use profanity with the students to be one of the gang.

I think they do deal with it as well as a school can.

The teachers have been engaged, enthusiastic, helpful, and genuinely interested in making this a great experience for the students. My son has enjoyed it here.

We are so frustrated with this school! The principal up and left in the middle of the year, the counselor for 6th grade doesn't return calls. Teachers are average at best.

Our child had a wonderful experience attending elementary school in the Northwest ISD, but Chisholm Trail is in a whole different ballpark. Although some of the trouble that our child and family have been frustrated by probably stems from poor management and decision-making at the district level, the principals at Chisholm seem to be sitting back and hoping that the school will run itself. Most of the work done by students is expected to be performed online this year. There was no preparation provided for children and parents in advance, however. The staff was unaware that the Netbooks distributed could not access the Internet from many homes. Teachers post documents that cannot be downloaded or utilized. Our child received an F for not logging into a Facebook-type program for Language Arts. Some of the teachers care and are competent, but there is one (at least) who desperately needs to return to school herself, for the sake of her students. Another has expressed to me her own frustration with the way this campus is run. Chishom Trail is a disorganized place. The students are not the only ones who have some homework to do! Sadly, for them, it will be turned in late.

Middle school is such a difficult age for all children. I appreciate the teachers that reach out and try to make a difference. I do see many at this school that are outstanding teachers. My daughter has participated in the orchestra program for two years, and we have not be impressed with the leadership from the teacher. Mrs. Fox (an exceptionally outstanding teacher)used to teach at Chisholm, but is now at the high school. It was taken over by Mr. Smith, who clearly should have chosen a different career because it is clear he does not enjoy his job or his students. For such an outstanding program, we are very disappointed because our daughter wants to drop out of that class every day!
