I went to this school back in 2012, and I was in class in one of the portables and I called another student "Justin Bieber" because he was a splitting image of him at the time. I ran out of the portable and a teacher grabbed me causing me to get kicked.

Don’t send your kid here! The principal has been trying to recapture the kids that have transferred away from this school by telling parents that the academics have improved but they haven’t. The teachers are leaving in droves because the administration is more focused on athletics even though the test scores ate very low.

What an awful school. Parents I beg you don't let your kid go to this school. Teachers could care less about your education and your mental. The discipline in that school is absolutely ridiculous. Just a "don't do that again" and boom let em go. Chances are if your kid goes there they probably get bullied or are the bully, you don't even know that though because staff won't call the parents and inform parents if there kid is hurting others or being the one who's getting hurt or even both. Same thing with the education, staff won't call parents so parents won't know there kid if failing unless they check a website. If your child goes to this school teach them bullying is not okay at all and make you kid comfortable so they can tell you if there okay or not. Because the school won't teach them any of those things. There was a time I got sa there and me and the kid who sa me where in the office and the principal said "stay away from him" so no suspension? No cops involved? No discipline? Just a slap on the wrist. Brilliant just brilliant. I'm Homeschooled now. Leaving that place felt like finally being able to breathe. I'm much better now. My have motivation to do good in school, making good grades, I'm the most mentally stable person I know. Looking back at when I went to bms I was the complete opposite. I'll never forget this school unfortunately. On a good note I'll know what school my kids will never be going to

I taught at this school for a few years. Administration likes to come off as helpful in front of parents and centenal office workers. This is all a front and when teachers need help administration usually cannot be bothered or they encourage the poor behavior from the students.

There is a fight almost every day if not multiples a day. Students will take pictures of others in the bathroom or other places without their knowledge and then post them online. In person and online bullying is constant and astonishing at how much it happens and then isn’t taken seriously.

They tried to do SEL and restorative practices but it was all a joke. Nothing was true or even relatable for the students. Or when restorative practices were tried students were often told it was all the teachers fault and they had done nothing wrong.

As a teacher I did not feel safe and this school and would never want my students to attend this school due to the lack of consistent administrative support.

The students at this school are currently being done a disservice because they are not learning or being taught good social skills and how to function in society. They are continually allowed to skip class or not complete their work with zero consequences. ISS and other suspensions began to be the goal for some students as it meant they wouldn’t have to complete any work. I can understand that administration and teachers that followed these practices may have felt they were coming from the right place but in the end it is harmful to the students.

Turn over amongst teachers is very high as well as administration. I would not recommend this school to work at for other teachers.

She receives hardly ANY homework, she had more in 3rd grade! And what IS sent home is not even at grade level. She is in PRE-AP classes..I expect more!

Fights everyday. Girls taking video of other girls getting dressed for PE. Kids skipping school. Kids cussing loud enough for me to hear it across the street with cars passing by. Kids all 5alk about sex and drugs ALOT!

The teachers really care about the students. I have had several teachers go out of their way to make my son feel welcome when he was the new kid.

I was worried because of the rating and reputation, but the administration has really turned the school around. It is a welcoming environment with highly dedicated teachers. I know the test scores will follow soon. I feel lucky my kids get to go here!

I went here 6th and 7th but ended up switching schools by the end of 7th grade. Burnet teachers don't care about you there can be a handful of people who actually care but only a handful , they reward the bad students , everywhere you turn there's security and police , they don't trust you it's like if we were all delinquents , my grades went down really low and maybe your thinking that it's because we don't put effort but in reality some do! You just can't learn anything with loud classmates and rude teachers. This school is cheap , they can't re decorate they can't do anything and I still remember that everyday during lunch we would get screamed at , it was horrible if you really want your child to succeed don't bring them to burnet.

Thanks to those who posted in support of our school! We have so many wonderful students and so many hard-working and amazing teachers and staff. To label our teachers as cruel is just cruel :(. This is my 10th year and I am proud to teach here. There are many challenges and areas where we are working to improve, but please... work to be part of the solution! Advocate for your needs respectfully and don't give up until they are addressed. If you have ideas for how we can improve, please contact us and communicate! I am very optimistic about the way this year has started and I hope you are too! Have a great year wherever you are! :)

I went here 10 years ago and judging from the reviews, this place hasn't changed. I spent my 6th grade year here and it was so bad I blocked most of it out. The teachers were unnecessarily cruel, the place was run and felt like a prison, and the other kids hates me because I could spell. But looking back, I don't blame the kids the way the teacher review below does. Burnet is an amalgamation of the neighborhood. If we want healthier, happier kids (which I'm guessing the teachers and administration DON'T, judging from their behavior), then we have to work hard on a community level to give them hope. Like the student below says, kids here have no freedom, no hope, no happiness. It's a horrible school. If you're a parent, your kid deserves better. And if you're a teacher like the one below, please go do something that doesn't affect kids' lives.
