Amazing school, everything to the tea! Except one teacher in special education always having some commentary that's negative , negative, negative!!! Heard her multiple occasions on pick up talking to the special education students in a impolite manner. I mean kids are kids but what's the reason? Also when communicating with other staff I've heard the absolute worst. If your teaching in special education in general aren't you supposed to be positive and uplifting to these students and parents? Not being judgemental
..... The teacher is a older Caucasian women with glasses. Judging by her attitude i doubt it's hard to identify her.

If I could no stars because first off they keep giving me the run around about if my son was going to stay there or go to another district and they want to put him absent those days!!! The lady didnt know good English and didnt explain anything good!! When I went to take him they didnt inform me at the meeting that he was going to another district and also when I took him there to cook elementry the lady was confused and thought I need paper work for his other district and that's when I found out he wasn't supposed to go there he was going to another district!! My son is special ed and this school didnt have him long because they didnt want to deal with him and the other district was way better than cook!!! Would not recommend cook at all!!! They just give you the run around and they dont have everything togother and the lady doesn't even speak good English so I really didnt understand her!!!

Cook has transitioned into some new staff over the past few years! This has been a great transition! Not to mention the downsize in students. Overall these changes has been great for the students. I hope the experience is the same for the faculty. As a very hands on parent, I no longer worry as I did when my sons first attended Cook. My children no longer dread getting up going to school. In a recent conversation with one of my sons we discussed an issue with another student. I asked him if he felt like the teacher, principal, or any of the other staff listened to him and fixed the issue. He responded as the little man he is, "Mom, they all were awesome. The principal came by and checked in on us in class." This made me as a parent feel grateful to have adults in my children lives that are listening to them.

The staff at Cook are rising to the challenge of rebuilding a school after new administration, poor test scores, high staff turnover, and high-need students. Test scores have improved dramatically over the past two years and we even surpass other schools in the area with similar student populations. Our students are largely Hispanic, and in bilingual, dual-language classrooms. Our students in the ESL, or English only, classes come to us with social and academic needs that we have worked especially hard to provide interventions for. Schools in this area serve many single-income families that struggle to make ends meet, much less support their child in school. Cook is becoming a safe, nurturing place for our students to not only learn in but to simply be children in. We have a long way to go with enrichment programs, parent and community involvement, and staff retention, but I believe in my administration and teachers. We have recently been relieved by a neighboring school and are down to under 600 students. This will help our ability to meet our community's needs and keep quality teachers tremendously. I am proud to be a Cook teacher and can't wait to see how we grow!

This is my sons first year in school and his teacher was awesome! Anytime I needed something everyone was always helpful! Except the cashier in the lunch line! She needs to be replaced! She was very rude with kids!

Cook Elementary did not provide a very good education for my daughter. She spent most of the time dealing with bullies. The administration could not do anything because of the fact that most of this activity went on behind the backs of administration. The classrooms are too large to give individual attention to students who need more help in a subject. The teachers my daughter had were wonderful, but it seemed as though the size of the classroom made it difficult for them to teach because of troubled students.
