Gullett is such a sweet school. The family involvement is great and everybody tries to take care of each other. The teachers have been great so far. Every classroom has a garden which is so fun and educational. Academics seem high, and I really like the principal, you can tell she really cares about the school absolutely the kids.

I can't say enough good things about Gullett. The entire experience is one of engagement and togetherness. My kids love it. The teachers are, shockingly, happy and engaged as well. I feel lucky we found it and lucky our kids get to go there.

We feel so lucky to have a public school in our neighborhood that is such a safe, welcoming, and encouraging place for our kids. The teachers are incredible and there is unbelievable parent support. The communication from the staff is probably my favorite part. I always feel included in whats happening at school and welcome to be involved as much as Id like. The school gardens and animals on site are just the cherry on top.

Gullett has been such a gift to our family. We have had school experiences that left us feeling discouraged and my kids feeling negatively about themselves. The staff and administration at Gullett have been incredibly supportive and energetic in engaging all of the kids. They have taken seriously and resolved any concerns we have raised in our child's special education plans. The school supports its teachers and families.

We feel thankful that we found Gullett and chose to send our children here. We debated between private schools or public school. Our experience at Gullett has been more than we hoped for in a public school. It is such a gem and a special place for children to be themselves, grow, thrive, and enjoy education. Every teacher weve had has approached teaching our whole child and theyve all shown independent care in what needs or strengths each child might have. The staff is welcoming, helpful and happy. The current principal and AP are a dynamic duo that fiercely lead our students and staff. The community is involved, helpful, giving and kind. I wish we could keep the Gullett care and community in tact as we move on in their educational career!

We are having such a wonderful experience at Gullett Elementary! Since our kiddo started in Kindergarten, all of the teachers and staff have been so welcoming, accommodating, and thoughtful.

Gullett Elementary is an excellent elementary school, weve been blown away by the high quality experience even during Covid. The staff is amazing and the parents/community are heavily involved in ensuring the school is supported in all ways. They have gardens and animals that all the children contribute to caring for. They focus heavily on social/emotional learning as well as academics. Our daughter is already well above the standard goals for her age by end of school year and its only October, so weve put together a plan with her teacher to keep her challenged and learning. Really great school and a really great network of administrations that seem truly motivated by providing the best possible experience for our kids.

The Principal doesn't seem to take bullying very serious. I've had a discussion with her about my child the bad situation that they're in, and she promised to follow-up with me. I've heard nothing. My child is young. Too young to have to deal with this himself. They need to step up.

We have an average experience with the school, class teacher was not very effective to manage the class properly. She only focused on Math during the complete session. There was no lessons for Science and Social Studies.

When I volunteered to help students who are struggling with reading, I was met with disdain and arrogance. The principal who had previously run the school with diligence has long moved herself and most of her farm animals to an suburban school. The school is no longer carries the energy and enthusiasm for learning, especially science education that it used to tout.

The place has lost much of its appeal and uniqueness: The principal (who had once introduced a love of life science through the presence of her farm and exotic animals) is gone. She was effectively pressured to move herself and her animals to a suburban school. The school she left behind is ordinary now, at best.

My son has attended Gullett since Kindergarten as a transfer student. We transferred in through the AISD lottery system and got in easily. He has had excellent teachers, and the school has very involved parents which make a school great. They have animals all over the school, gardens, a wonderful music program, and well-planned parent nights including Literacy and Math Nights. They also have a fabulous librarian, Ms. Gooch, and a devoted principal, Ms. Ruiz. The students all participate in the Bookspring Read-A-Thon to raise money for books for low-income schools. My child feels like a part of the Gullett community. One reason we transferred was that I did not want my child to have to do STAAR practice constantly throughout 3rd-5th grades. So far this has been the case. In 3rd grade he had 4 wonderful teachers, one for each subject: Math, Writing, Reading/Social Studies, and Science. Gullett is a model for successful public schools.

We transferred into Gullett this year and absolutely love it. The principal and staff work very hard to create an inspiring learning environment for the kids. Gardens outside the classrooms, all types of animals living throughout the campus, and a principal who leads play time on the playground each morning before school - these details and many more create a warm, loving and engaging culture that makes my child excited to go to school every day!

I went to Gullett in the 70's. My principle was Mr Brandon and my 5th grade teacher was Ms Moore and to this day they share a special memory in my heart. I loved this school and it sounds like from other post their tradition remains strong.

Not the great school it once was, very little diversity, very little transparency. By the time we took our child out every other child on our block had transferred to private school. We moved to get into a different public school.

Coming from private school we were a little concerned what the public school experience would be like but Gullett was absolutely fantastic! I love that the kids have windows in the classrooms, outdoor walkways to all the classrooms, and there is a lot of emphasis on connecting the kids with nature. The have a strong recycling program and are working on being a zero-waste school. The parent/faculty interaction has been very good and the school has good parental involvement.

Gullett is about kids. It is a hidden Austin treasure in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. The teachers care, push the kids to excel but are not singing the hymn of the tiger mother. The school has a great feel. Fifth graders and their parents are sad to leave this elementary school behind. Kids are prepared to excel at the neighborhood school or an AISD magnet. One of the best public schools in Austin.

Out of all of the years at Gullett I will remember the fun games played, the silly and overall enthusiastic attitude of parents, teachers and staff, and the vast amount of students. There is one thing I will treasure for the rest of my life, the day in 2010 when Texas played Alabama in the National Championship.After school there was so much burnt orange and Texas related music I couldn't see the grass or hear anything else. I am in fifth grade and have gotten accepted into both Fulmore and Kealing so I think you get the academic promises with Gullett. Go Geckos!!!
