My first son graduated from McCallum in 2022. While there are some challenges at McCallum, it is a good school that offers students a range of different opportunities. Our son enjoyed the business courses. He also took advantage of many different opportunities for advanced learning, including AP and community college classes. My second son is currently a 10th grader at McCallum. He has enjoyed French and engineering, in addition to core classes. My younger children look forward to the theater and dance programs at McCallum, which are among the best in the state.

The fine arts program (orchestra is my connection) is excellent, earning a Grammy Award - yes, THAT Grammy in 2015. All arts disciplines produce superb quality performance and display pieces. The rigor is there too, both in arts and in general education subjects, and sports teams are competitive, but do not carry the singular focus of the school population. Overall, the students are a welcoming group, with minimal clique-ish behaviors.

My child is currently a student and these teachers, assistant principals and principal do not stand by their mission. Majority of the teachers are there simple just to get a check. They have no interest if the kid succeed or not. Some of the teachers are just as childish as some of the kids. They lack in the communication. They look at concern parents as a problem. Then take their frustrated out on the kids. They are there to teach and if that is too much for them they need to move around for a teacher that is geniune to a child needs. They are out there, just not at McCallum.
