In the past three years under the leadership of Principal Leyla Olano this school has flourished. It has been a gem of a school in north central Austin! Principal Olano recruiited some great teachers, including a number from Spain and Latin America for the Spanish language program and Chinese teachers from both Taiwan and mainland China for the Chinese language program. Discipline is firm but fair and always with a loving attitude, ensuring a safe learning environment. The facility is admittedly older (1953) but the small size of the student body ensures individual attention -- everyone knows everyone and helps out. Fantastic PTA support and lots of community activities! I don't know what the 2026-2027 school year might bring with all the changes in Austin ISD, but these past few years have seen incredible improvements and a stable staff.

Reilly is such a gem of a school- incredibly involved parents and PTA, Principal Olano has done a fantastic job in just a few years at creating a success-driven, inclusive community. Teachers are truly committed and go above and beyond to ensure student success, including after school tutoring. It's nice to be in a smaller school where everyone knows everyone- parents are welcome to join for lunch and many are active in volunteering. Reilly feels incredibly safe- it's across the street from a police department! The school hosts teachers from Spain in a multi-year exchange program, as well as other native Spanish teachers. The dual language is designed to be heavier immersion in the early years and tapers as kids get older. My kids are speaking Spanish comfortably after just a few years- you would pay much more outside AISD for a similar dual language program! The school festivals, science fair, Dragon dance, Storybook Wranglers programs all contribute to a fantastic enriching environment. The Girl Scouts and Scouts programs are great, Creative Action after school programs rock, and many kids join sports teams together outside of Reilly. We're working on getting more after school programs for the kids!

We have had the pleasure of experiencing firsthand the exceptional dual language program offered at Reilly. The dedication of the teachers and the support from the staff truly set this school apart. The dual language program not only fosters linguistic fluency but also promotes cultural understanding and global awareness among students. The teachers are not just educators but mentors who go above and beyond to ensure every child thrives academically and personally. The administration and support staff are equally remarkable, creating a warm and welcoming environment where students feel safe and encouraged to excel. Our overall experience with Reilly has been nothing short of exemplary, and we highly recommend it to any parent seeking a nurturing and enriching educational environment for their child.

The school went through some leadership and staffing challenges last year but our new principal since 2022-2023 Mrs. Olano has been wonderful. The school had substitutes last year as did much of AISD but is now fully staffed as of 2023-2024. This school is small with a very tight knit community of committed parents and teachers- everyone knows our kids! I love the dual language program and the librarian who leads the GT program, as well as the focus on community and school events to celebrate the Spanish and Mandarin programs.

I love everything about Reilly. It is a loving community with great teachers. 2020 was a challenging year to start school but the way the school was able to handle all the challenges thrown their way and through remote and in person teaching do such a great job bonding with the kids and managing to teach the kids so much. They even taught SEL in such a lovely and helpful way. I am super impressed. Looking forward to how well they do in a normal year!

My child has arrived home with stories about kids bulling her. When probed, she said she told the teacher and was ignored and told to go back and play.

The amount of homework in 2nd grade finally seems reasonable. I've notice my child learns more with limited homework than when she had a packet.

I've had horrible experiences. From having teachers that don't care, constantly complain, and have nothing but negative feedback to provide. To teachers that referred to my child as "LAZY."

I think Mrs. Saenz is a great leader and goes out of her way to assist parents as well as her staff. She has assisted me with several concerns and I like the vision she has for her school. It's just unfortunate that not all her staff is on that same page as her.

This is not applicable to my child.

I like the size of the school because it's small which leaves for a low student to teacher ratio. It's just unfortunate that teachers don't work closer with students. It seems like they are quick to complain and quit on there students instead of working towards making there students excel.

SEL and a small close-knit family community help discourage bullying.

Excellent! Our daughter is enjoying and learning a lot through Reilly's dual language program. We are thrilled for her to receive solid instruction in both languages. We love being part of the Reilly family!

Reilly has a very strong SEL (Social Emotional Learning) program at all grade levels. This program teaches students to problem solve and have empathy for others, teaching valuable life lessons!

The principal is approachable and listens to concerns. She is a creative problem-solver and a go-getter.

Reilly is so small (most grade levels only have 2 teachers), so teachers really get to know their students and work with their individual needs.

My son attended the dual language program in kindergarten this year. The staff (principal, counselor, vice principal, and teachers) were very involved in making sure he got the attention he needed. My son can now read in English and Spanish, which blows me away. He has made so much progress this year. Also, class size is small at this school.

Love the individual attention each child gets.as my child was ppcd program for 2years i see big diffrent the staff so help full my child doesnot speach but with this involve program start speach so good star love the help teacher and nice staff. Everyone cares and truly listens to parent concerns and feedback. Teachers are wonderful and take time to get to know each child's strengths and weaknesses. Parental involvement appreciated and encouraged. Just wish there was more funding for extra curricular activities such as after school sports, gardening, cooking, etc...

This is such a great little neighborhood school where the teachers genuinely care about the students. Our kids have been going here for several years and we have really seen the school become an even better environment for learning! Not only does the school test for Gifted and Talented abilities, they actually work to implement the program here. The PTA is also a great way to be involved with our children and we are able to work with and get to know our great teachers and staff! More parent involvement would mean a better school for our kids, other than that--I am very pleased with this school!
