Our time at Sierra Vista has been truly amazing. Our son has autism and an IEP. He was in the schools PBS (positive behavior support) classroom. It is for high functioning kids on grade level (1st-3rd grade), but need a higher level of support than they could get in a larger classroom. The classroom had 10 student, 1 main teacher and 3 paras so there was a lot of individual instruction for each child. Everybody in the school is very friendly, kind, warm, and ready to help. I cant say enough about the classroom teacher Ms.Chavira, the kids call her Ms.J. She is the best teacher weve ever come across! She has a passion and love for her job and the kids she works with! She does a great job keeping each child engaged and having fun learning everyday which is so refreshing. She takes the kids on monthly field trips, but its called instructional based learning. My son has flourished with her educationally and socially this year. He has made so many friendships with the kids in his class. Weve had amazing interactions with everybody from the superintendent of special education, speech therapists, OT therapists, the ASD specialist, the diagnostician, his teacher and paras and everybody in between. As a military family we are very sad to be leaving Sierra Vista this year, and would come back in a heartbeat if given the chance. We will miss the school and everybody in it!

If you have a special needs student, stay as far away from this school as humanly possible. The bias that comes from the administration is horrific. My son is on the spectrum and the school repeatedly harassed and bullied him just so they could tackle him to the ground and restrain him leaving 12 bruises all over his body. When brought to the EPPD we were told it was out of their jurisdiction. So we went to the SISD PD and was told on three occasions that they would not allow us to file a report against the school. We filed a CPS complaint against the school to be told that they didnt see an issue with the force that was exhibited on a 10 year old child. The school suspended him for his meltdowns that are out of his control being Autistic and then Wanted to send us to truancy court because he missed too many days of schools. The administrative team of Christina De La Cruz and Claudia Tristan is toxic. They laugh when kids are bullied. It is by far the most disgusting forms of leadership I have ever seen. Do NOT send your kids here.

Bullying is strong at this school. Our daughter is light skinned, blonde haired and blue eyed, she is told that she doesnt have enough brown in her skin to be treated fairly

The teachers are great with the kids students. But administration and volunteers are very rude and bully children that aren't part of there group. My daughter was picked on by one of the head volteern daughter and the administration did nothing about it. Needless to say we left.

The school isn't worth even half a star. The principal which isn't ever available always has a chip on her shoulder. Also more than once has the assistant principal been rude to me. The worst part is that my daughter is not in her reading level since I testep her at another school yet she is passing with flying colors. I asked her teacher how could this be and she replied "I have doney best to help her (reading skills)" so giving her a free A is ok ? They need to change principles now. Hilarious how the review with many stars come from a teacher.

Never gives any notice for functions and on the rare occasion that you are informed of something going on, it does not happen at the scheduled time. Tiny gym/auditorium. Plan on playing the "pass the buck" game when dealing with issues. Lastly, if you are new to the school and would like to know "how to/where is" anything. Make friends with another parent...otherwise you are left in the dark.
