my child came from EPISD and I expected YISD would be different. This school was uninviting. Daughter tried out for sports and they are not tactful the way they cut your child. This can be spirit crushing to a child. I am a working Mom so sorry that I cannot pay for private lessons cause that is what is expected at this school. I guess if you have money and a lot of time on your hands, it could be a good school. Students are made to feel as criminals when they walk into and walk out of the library. They make them raise their hands. No attention to kids that are new and not from a feeder school and struggling. Since there are so many rich kids, there is a lot of bullying going on and teachers will turn a blind eye. Very disappointed. Thought YISD would have offered more to my child. Shame they are getting so much money. They may focus on the facilities and technology but not on our kids brains and hearts.

This is the best school ever! I recently moved to El Paso and entered as an 8th grader here. The campus is extremely beautiful and everyone is friendly. The principal is a great person and the counselors are the best. Everyone is very welcoming and it's almost impossible to be excluded. This is a safe school that has great teachers that not only help you academically, but also with your social problems (if you ask them about it) because they are really easy to become close to. We are this year's UIL academic overall champion and i'm pretty sure we're also going to be the UIL athletic champion. We have a variety of sports and clubs as well as a great fine arts program which includes a wonderful theatre program. If you (your child) attends EMS, you won't ever regret it because it will prepare them for the transition to High School. It is a privilege to be a member of the Eastwood Middle School family and i promise you will enjoy studying in this great environment created by the principal and the Ysleta ISD. Also, we do have a uniform but it's different from traditional schools. We have spirit shirts of all colors and clubs/band/orchestra/NJHS/athletic t-shirt you can wear every day.
