As a mom of two children currently in 1st and 2nd grade, I cannot say enough wonderful things about Redeemer Lutheran School. Our children began their journey here in the toddler program, and watching them grow over the years has been one of the greatest blessings for our family.

From the very beginning, the teachers and staff have cared for our children as if they were their own. They have celebrated milestones, encouraged them through challenges, and created an environment where they feel safe, loved, and excited to learn. The small class sizes and genuine relationships mean every child is truly known—not just by their teacher, but by the entire school community.

Academically, our children have been challenged and well-prepared, but what sets Redeemer apart is that Christ is at the center of everything they do. Daily prayer, Bible lessons, weekly chapel, and opportunities to serve others help build a strong foundation of faith that extends far beyond the classroom. It’s incredible to hear our children come home talking about what they learned in chapel or sharing Bible stories and songs with our family.

Redeemer has become so much more than a school to us—it has become our family. The friendships we’ve made, the supportive teachers, the dedicated leadership, and the welcoming community have made these past several years truly special. Knowing our children are growing not only in knowledge but also in their relationship with Jesus gives us tremendous peace and confidence.

If you’re looking for a school where your children will be challenged academically, encouraged personally, and nurtured spiritually, I wholeheartedly recommend Redeemer Lutheran School. We are incredibly thankful to be part of this community and look forward to many more years here.

Our son started attending Redeemer for Pre-K3 and has been in the elementary school for two years now. We have been very happy with the school's curriculum and the focus teaching kids about Jesus. The school provides a safe and caring environment while offering a great community of believers. It's a great alternative for those wanting a different option to public school and has the support of a great church.

My daughters have been attending Redeemer School for over 4 years. We have experience with their kinder bridge program all the way through third grade. We love the dedication to higher learning, appropriate testing and homework assignments, fun!, and social development. What initially brought us to the school was the above-average amount of offered electives: art, stem, choir, music, chapel, Spanish, gym, and library. The playgrounds and outdoor areas are also of high quality. For most grades, there are two recesses per day. The school also offer flexible and safe before and after school programs. The teachers are amazing, always working together and pouring into their students. Our biggest surprise is their on-staff counselor/therapist, who our kids love and enjoy speaking to when they need extra help and support with friends, school, etc. We love Redeemer! I reviewed the disabilities question with n/a simply because I don't have knowledge about this at schools.

This is our second year at Redeemer and we have two children that attend. One is in preschool and the other is in first grade. Our experience so far has been incredible. We were looking for a Christian school that was dedicated to nurturing our children's relationship with Jesus and teaching Biblically-sound information, while also providing excellent opportunities for academic, social, and emotional growth. We originally learned about Redeemer through a friend who has taught there for several years. Her love for and devotion to her workplace was encouraging and we've witnessed the same from every staff member and teacher in the school. Everyone has been warm, welcoming, and seems to truly enjoy being a part of Redeemer. Both of our children love the community of friends they have developed and especially love the teachers they have had. Each teacher has gotten to know them and their learning styles individually and take a deep interest in how they are doing academically, socially, and spiritually. I've appreciated that my youngest son in PreK is actually learning during his time at Redeemer. He is involved in Spanish, music, art, and PE classes. He learns about the Bible and has weekly Chapel time. I love that our toddler is in an environment that is educational and truly enriching! I feel peaceful sending my children to school every day and they truly enjoy attending. This feels like a gift!

My wife and I have been sending our kids to Redeemer since the Fall of 2023. Our youngest was not old enough to attend at that time but all three of our kids are there now. We have really enjoyed our experience at Redeemer and it was highly recommended from a friend that has her kids there. We feel extremely blessed that we are in a position to send all three of our kids to Redeemer. We appreciate how involved the teachers, staff, and parents are at the school. Our two oldest talk about how much they are learning and the friends they are making. One of the main features we were looking for in choosing a Private Christian School was allowing our kids to deepen their personal relationship with Jesus. This has been huge for us to see how much their faith has grown. Lord willing we will continue our journey for years to come at Redeemer.

Redeemer Lutheran School has been an amazing experience for our family. Both of our children have attended since they were 15 months old — they’re now in Kindergarten and 2nd grade — and we plan to stay all the way through 8th grade.

The teachers are truly outstanding. They go above and beyond to know each child personally, creating a warm, encouraging environment where students feel valued and supported. The school’s strong Christian values are woven into everything they do, helping students grow not just academically, but in character and faith as well.

Academically, Redeemer sets a high standard. Our kids are challenged, engaged, and excited about learning every day. The campus is safe and secure, with a professional Security team that provides tremendous peace of mind.

Redeemer Lutheran School is everything we hoped for in a Christian education — excellent academics, caring teachers, and a loving community that helps children thrive.

We started at Redeemer this year and love it! We have a child in Pre-K and one in Kinderbridge. My oldest went in still learning letters and within a couple months he is almost reading, knows his numbers to 100, and more importantly he knows Jesus. What stands out about RLS is the love that the teachers have. You can feel the love and compassion just walking through the school. I’ve already made so many good connections with other parents too. We highly recommend RLS!

They are both learning and growing so well and I feel confident when I drop them off that they are safe and loved in their environment. Teachers are great communicators and the administration is supportive. I see us being here until both kids graduate from 8th grade.

It’s been such a great transition to middle school, here at Redeemer! As a former public school middle school teacher, I know that the good ones are a special breed - able to relate to, guide, teach, discipline, and have fun with kiddos of this wonky age, all at the same time. Teachers here at Redeemer’s middle school definitely fit that bill, and are such a gift to our kids and families. I’m very grateful to be a parent partnering with this staff to grow my boy through this time in his life!

My son has been at Redeemer for two years now and we have LOVED it. He started in the toddler class and had the best transition with this being his first time in school. He runs to school with a smile on his face everyday and is excited to tell me everything he did and learned when we go home. Most importantly, I know he his loved unconditionally by the staff and his teachers and they are helping raise him into an amazing man. You will not regret sending your child to this school.

After researching I’ve discovered that homework has no use for up to fifth grade. I’m not a fan of homework in your fears with family time and extracurricular activities and downtime. However it’s been a part of schooling since we were in kindergarten. I just am not a fan of homework.

We are new to Redeemer this year. Our daughter is in 4th grade. Our neighborhood school is not what we’re looking for. We tried Harmony school of science for Kinder amd half of 1st. Kinder was ok... 1st was horrible. The. Athlos/WBLA for 2nd half of 1st and 2nd this was good. Then... (Athlos turned into Jubilee after 2nd) 3rd was Jubilee. Not good at all. Bullying from students and teachers. Our hopes were high for Redeemer. They have not let us down. Let me just for say no school is perfect. However we are very pleased with the lack of bullying from the children. And no bullying from the teachers which is as it should be. Multiple different options such as choir and they’re learning how to play the recorder, Spanish, Art, Library, a fantastic PE program! Science enrichment is awesome. We are pleased with the switch over.

They do not listen and discipline with corporal punishment and reward with treats all the time.

Their resource teacher was a blessing and helped a lot with our daughter's anxiety. We would have not made it without her.

Posted: December 17, 2018

We have been at Redeemer for over six years. I would say it was a lovely Christian school with a fine education until about 3rd grade. Then a lot of homework came into play and into 4th sometimes 1.5 hours a night. The discipline policy is archaic. My child never really gets into trouble but she had a run laps once for not turning in church attendance and once for forgetting her tennis shoes for gym. The math teach was having kids do push ups who did not listen in class. Spoke with the administration (1st time in 6 years) and it fell upon deaf ears. My child had to run laps for the tennis shoes about 3 weeks later. There is a lot of focus on sin and at times it felt like a throw back to a 1950 Catholic School. We are pulling our daughter in January.

Too much, this week over 5 tests for 4th grade.

Posted: December 17, 2018

Depends on the teacher. We had wonderful Preschool through 2nd grade and then it went down hill. Homeroom teacher this year was new but lovely, but Math teacher gives too much homework and disciplines with push-ups.

The school is academically very good, but there is still room for improvement. There are too many bullying problems here, which is the school's biggest problem. When I graduated, I realized just how poorly the other students treated me based on how I am now treated. If I ever were to have children, this would be towards the bottom of my list of schools to choose from.

Posted: September 9, 2015

Excellent teachers and a caring administration. Ms. Mueller, acting principal for 2015-16, greets students and is quite visible amongst the children and parents during the day. Mr. Jahnke, long-time vice principal, is caring but firm. Bullying is not tolerated. Class size is small. PE every day. One test: ITBS, which I myself took in elementary school. Ms. Schatte, the music teacher, is a gem. The play equipment is up-to-date and developmentally appropriate. Nap times in K for kids whose bodies aren't ready for a full, active day (or quiet time, because we all need that!). Check out Ms. Keyburn and the Garden Club -- she's knowledgable and truly a Mother Nature-type figure to the kids. Redeemer is slightly more conservative in their beliefs than I, but this is such a small matter and I really believe they benefit from seeing how others think.

All teachers at this school are caring, but some do have favorites. There're a few teachers that aren't the best, but the true problem at this school is bulling, and trying to cover up mistakes. My child was being bullied and the teachers tried to just talk it out with them both in the same room. which just made things worse. Plus their bully made it seem that my child was attacking them. So it looked like my kid was the bad child. Instead of listening to both of the kids, they heard one side of the story and settled with that one story. Also I have lost respect for some teachers. Some of the teachers could care less about what you have to say about how they handled a situation badly. If a teacher messes up, yes you should give them grace. What I don't like is that if I want to talk to that teacher who messed up, it is extremely difficult to contact them in person. It is difficult because other teachers try to build a wall to protect that teacher. They try to drive you away from the one teacher you need to talk to. The school is great if your child is a favorite of every teacher, and if your child have no problems with making friends with others.

Redeemer Lutheran School is a great option for families looking for an alternative to Austin Public Schools. We provide a learning experience - a family environment with faith development, nurturing relationships, academic excellence, integrated technology, physical fitness, and hands-on enrichment. In elementary school, children enjoy chapel, our music program 3 times a week, art, science enrichment, spanish, physical fitness in the gym, and technology. We have 3 age appropriate state of the art playgrounds, SMARTboard technology in all classrooms as well as computers, and IPADs. An on-site shuttle bus to Concordia High School offers an opportunity for High School.

I attended Redeemer for 11 years. The education was AMAZING! The 7th grade lit class changed my life and set me on a course to graduate from high school with 45 college credit hours, because that class gave me the foundation to think deeply about myself and others, which would later put me on a path to pursuing my passions (balanced with wisdom of course). Now I am married and have an infant. When it is time for him to attend pre-school you can bet that he will be attending Redeemer!

RLS has been such a amazing experience for my two children. The teachers LOVE these children as if they were their own. Last year was hard, one of our children was diagnosed with a learning disability but the staff at RLS helped us and stood by our side to help figure out every step we needed to take. Now I'm happy to say, that same child is now excelling beyond belief and it is all due to the love and support of the teachers and staff. God is the center of all things at RLS and it shows! They go above and beyond in every aspect!

We have two kids at Redeemer, and we have had an amazing experience! The kids learn so much--not just academics, but about love, character and God. So glad we found Redeemer, and my kids have had such a good start to life!

Redeemer Lutheran is an extraordinary environment to challenge and support academic, intellectual, social, and spiritual growth of Pre-K through 8th grade students. The teachers and staff encourage and genuinely care for not only the students, but for their families as well.

We have been at Redeemer for six years and absolutely love it. Although the academics are outstanding and the students get a variety of experiences each day including science, PE, music, art, technology, and Spanish, the main reason we love her Redeemer is the sense of community we feel here. The teachers genuinely care about their students.

My child has been at Redeemer for the past 2 years and loves it! Everyone was so welcoming and made her feel right at home. She looks forward to school and loves the small, community feel it has. I love the idea that she can stay in the same school through 8th grade. They are building a new private high school so may keep her with her friends and stay through high school. So happy we found this school!

Redeemer is an excellent place to receive a quality education for your child. My family is very impressed with: Teacher involvement, parent support of the students and the overall knowledge my child gains each day.

My kids love Redeemer Lutheran School. We have attended preschool, elementary, and middle school and have been very happy with the teachers, curriculum, and the loving Christian environment. In my experience with public school, and this private school, I would hands down pick this private school. I know a few families that left Redeemer to go to public schools and they came back to Redeemer because you just can't beat the education they get at this school.

My daughter has attended Redeemer for middle school and we have been very pleased with both the academic rigor and the caring atmosphere at the school. The teachers and administration take a genuine interest in the students as individuals and there is healthy collaboration among teachers. My daughter had lost interest in reading prior to attending Redeemer. Now she loves to read and has even mentioned an interest in becoming a librarian.

Posted: August 7, 2011

I have two kids who both love Redeemer. There are a lot of opportunities offered that they didn't receive at their last school. We also love the family environment.

Posted: July 19, 2011

Poor school. The principal is very immature and not objective. Sad for the teachers who do try.

Posted: June 20, 2011

My two kids love Redeemer! My family considers Redeemer a home, not just a school! The atmosphere is very loving and supportive.

Posted: May 5, 2011

There is a major problem with bullying at this school that has driven several families away. The principal refuses to step in when the teacher won't handle it. There are teachers who are not qualified to teach, and very little has been done about it. Academics are average. Three families I know who left due to bullying issues at the school are thrilled with their public school choices.

Posted: February 28, 2011

Some teachers are good but the bad ones are left to continue to teach there year after year. Eventhough their issues are brought to the principals attention.

Posted: January 23, 2011

My wife attended Redeemer and now our three children go there. Redeemer has perfected the balance between academic excellence and Christian character. I know that my children are being challenged academically while being loved and cherished. A true gem and a blessing to the community.

I have two elementary age children attending Redeemer. I am very happy with the education my children are receiving and the experiences they are having at school. I feel like they are safe and cared for, they are excited about learning and are exposed to so many unique opportunities for hands on learning. The outside areas of the campus are often used as a hands-on science classroom, community members such as authors, scientists and community workers are encouraged, and each year the children go on a wide variety of field trips from farms to landfills.
