Fairhill has been a game-changer for my son. As a student with ADHD, dyslexia, and ASD (level 1), he needs a lot of executive function & social support. Not only does Fairhill work on targeting specific areas of executive function needs with each student, but the teachers truly believe in the students and make an effort to really get to know them. The small class size provides more individualized instruction and limits distractions, which has been so helpful for my son. Fairhill is the perfect mix of a traditional school setting and individualized instruction. And because class sizes are small, parents get to know and support each other. Fairhill School is a family, and we are so grateful for it!

Fairhill has been a magical place for our son; not only is he doing well academically but he is thriving socially which is something we have not seen him experience before. We are in the lower school (first year) but I honestly can't imagine him going anywhere else. Our family has had a tremendously positive experience with the staff and the teachers and find the school to be incredibly welcoming and inclusive. We would recommend Fairhill without hesitation

If youre looking for a small caring hands-on environment for your under achieving young one I would strongly suggest taking a look at the Fairhill school. Its a remarkable place.
A combination of a great culture, super talented and caring people and small classes, and our son has been elevated in a way that is life changing
I could not endorse more enthusiastically

We have been a part of the Fairhill family for the past six years. Farhill has been a positive learning environment for my daughter and offered her the tools and resources needed for academic success. Smaller classroom size and lower teacher to student ratios allows for more individualized learning environment. We have enjoyed our years at Fairhill could not be happier. The school has fully prepared my daughter for her upcoming college experience.

Fairhill has been wonderful for my son since his arrival in elementary school. The small class sizes and caring staff have been a huge benefit for him, especially when he struggled with anxiety. The flexibility provided by the administration and gentle approach to the students has been terrific for our family.

In my 8 years is going here I can confidently say Fairhills lower school is great but their high school is terrible. Fairhills Anti Bullying/Discrimination policy is said to be enforced is no where near that. Bullying and Discrimination is common and often ignored. Coaches dont care about their athletes, injuries arent taken seriously and often ignored. This school has recently been recruiting staff members that have sexualized girls, smoked on campus or are just bad teachers. Mental health is not seriously unless your child is autistic. Being child without Autism is a severe disadvantage, youll be overlooked and be ignored in an altercation. If you want your child to experience a major decline in mental health send them here. I do not recommend.

Teachers verbally abuse the students, certain teachers. They lower their self esteem. They are not trained in special education. Only a few are. There are 4-5 great teachers there. The rest are substandard. The upper school does not work with learning differences at all. They cater to the autistic child but not to the dyslexic child. The administration is not pleasant at all. Only 1 woman is. The nurse is great. The worst part of this school is the bullying that goes unchecked and the teachers bullying the students. Choose Shelton if you can. Had great summer experiences there. They actually teach. They use paper and pen. Fairhill is all about the iPad. Terrible way to learn. Just an awful experience here. We only stayed because we wanted the smaller classrooms. I have never in my life written a poor review on anyone. I believe if you have nothing nice to say do not say it. But in this case. I want to save another dyslexic child from the nightmare we experienced. We are traumatized by this place. They made us so unhappy and uncomfortable. They were always very mean to my child. They let the autistic children do anything that is considered wrong to go unnoticed but if a non autistic child does something minor. Its game on for them and they attack.

If it weren't for some of the ridiculous rules in this place I would give it an overall 5. I love the way they work with the students as far as education goes. The extreme strictness does not bode well for real life and appears to be selective.

Excellent experience. This is a great fit for our child.

The homework is just the right amount to review concepts and extend learning without being overwhelming. Best of all, my child can complete most of it independently and doesn't have homework meltdowns anymore.

At the first back to school night, we realized that the teachers want to be here and to teach kids who learn differently. Some live far away and are so dedicated that they drive an hour or more each way. They truly do teach the individual and pay attention to the students' learning styles. They seem motivated to see every child succeed, and by that I do not mean to pass some state assessment, but to actually succeed the way they need to succeed by becoming learners who understand how they learn.

Good character is emphasized daily with behavior expectations and logs.
Students participate in interactive mini lessons on topics like bullying. They are generally kind to one another, and supportive. Students have the opportunity to reflect and think on their behavior choices without punitive scare tactics. This is important for kids who learn differently because they need the chance to slow down and dissect their choices in order to change them.

The school seems organized and well run. Leadership is approachable and cares about the kids. They seems to get it that this is not an easy journey, but that every child who walks through the doors is a worthwhile investment.

Absolutely agree. My child is like a new person- confident, happy, and feels like everyone there is supportive of how learning different students learn. There is optimism about school that we have not previously seen.

We do not have any experiences with bullying here.

We have been so pleased with Fairhill. They have an incredibly knowledgeable staff, but more importantly, they have an incredibly caring staff. Teachers helped my daughter become responsible, organized, and confident, which prepared her for college and the work place. She is even planning on going to graduate school! We believe part of this is due to the love for learning Fairhill instilled in her. They took away her fears about school, encouraged her, and helped her realize that dyslexia is a learning difference...not a learning deterrent. We are very grateful to Fairhill and can't recommend them enough!

Fairhill is an exceptional school. This is my 20th year of teaching. Ive taught in urban, suburban, private, and public schools. By far, Fairhill has impressed me the most. The academics challenge the students. Class sizes are small, so the students receive the attention and assistance they need. The athletic program and extra-curricular programs available are strong and numerous. In addition, Fairhill has now introduced an advisory period where students receive executive functioning instruction and guidance. Also, a character education program has been put in place based off Rachels Challenge. The students need this, not only for themselves personally, but for their social interactions. Finally, Fairhill has trained all their employees in responsibility-centered discipline. This is a program by Larry Thompson who has trained school personnel throughout the country. This discipline program keeps the students accountable, and the situations respectful. You will not be disappointed with Fairhill. Ive never worked with a better group of professionals who love what they do.

In our metroplex, there are plenty of private school options for children who do not fit in the public school box. As parents it is our responsibility to pick the best one for our student which meets their current needs. That said, when we found Fairhill School we were looking for a school that could provide our child with ADHD and social development skills while still challenging them intellectually, as well as offering a full range of athletic team sports and extracurricular programs. In short, we wanted the full school experience in a smaller environment. In our three years at Fairhill, we have found exactly that. As no school is perfect and with all schools, just dropping your student off may not provide the outcome you desire. By staying involved, we have been able to not only experience growth with our child, but also show our interest in their success. We have certainly been pleased with our decision and would encourage you to visit and see if it is the right fit for your child. We are glad we did

My son is graduating from the Fairhill School in Dallas this May. He transferred from a large public school in the 6th grade where there was no understanding of dyslexia within the district. Fairhill provided a small classroom environment with teacher's who are supportive, knowledgeable &provide a rigorous curriculum. In public school, the services my son was offered lowered the level of his instruction, at Fairhill he was expected to take responsibility for his learning and rise to his ability level and beyond. By the time he entered the upper school he was in honor's reading , responsible for literary criticism at a college level, honor's physics, Spanish 3, editing & working on the Talon Times Newspaper for the school which got him invited to SMU for lecture series, Fairhill is a school where your child can rise the highest levels imaginable and not get lost in the shuffle, but like any school, it is up to the student to learn to learn. Fairhill provides the tools, the instruction, the supportive atmosphere, but if a student has behavioral issues, this is not the place, there is zero tolerance. My son is off to college this fall thanks in a big part to Fairhill!

Leadership is poor at best. Unfair treatment of students and staff. Chaos, drugs and destructive behaviors are rampant. If you're looking for positive role models and a good education then run the other direction. Public school has more to offer and it's free.

Fairhill is a horrible school, do not waste your time and money. This school should be shut down. The teachers bully the students.

The Fairhill School of Dallas gives the appearance of a nice school beside the road, backed by the woods, and surrounded by the trees, as well as the homeless. However, The Fairhill School is more interested in your money than your child. Their School Handbook is nothing more than words. They don't necessarily follow it, so don't expect them to. Parents are disgusted that Fairhill does not monitor the social media sites their students follow or post on. Inappropriate material is not allowed, according to the handbook. Unfortunately, this school doesn't back up their handbook., The Fairhill staff will even "like" or approve your kid's inappropriate pics or postings as they see fit. Several of their teachers are outstanding. Many are just there to monitor classrooms. If you're looking to drop your kid here for education and morals, you've chosen the wrong location. This school is nothing more than a public school posing as a private one, and charging money to do so.

We have had our child at Fairhill 5 years. The teachers we have had have been very helpful, and when our child wasn't performing to expectations, we were notified and were able to arrange after school tutoring to help him get to level or beyond. If you are a parent and care about your child, you must have a working relationship with the teachers and the administration. It takes a lot of work from the student, the teachers, and the parents to get the child to be a success. I can honestly say if we had stuck to public school, I would be writing a failure story and not a success story, because believe me, by the end of 4th grade, we were heading in that direction. I was frustrated as a parent. My son was frustrated as a student. His self esteem was going to trash. He wasn't getting the help he needed and everything he was being taught was teaching to the State mandated TAKS testing, instead of teaching him the reading, writing and arithmetic life skills he needs to get along in life. I can truly say we would not be dreaming about college right now if we had kept our son in public schools. However, by staying at Fairhill my son now has a chance to be a success in life.

My daughter moved from The Shelton School in Dallas to Fairhill. Shelton is Montessori based which wasn't a good fit for my daughter. My daughter has focus issues and the noise level in the Shelton classroom environment was extremely prohibitive to success. Fairhill, on the other hand, is a much more advanced curriculum than Shelton. They use a teacher guided multi-sensory approach to teach traditional school subjects. So far, it seems to be a perfect fit. The teachers and administration have taken a great interest in my daughter, and her attitude toward school work has already improved tremendously.

Be wary of this school, parents! Our daughter was struggling in public school, so we searched for private school as an alternative. Fairhill admitted her on a temporary basis, but kicked her out after only being there 2 weeks. They claimed she was disruptive to other students by not doing her own work. A couple of the teachers were very understanding, but most of them had the "sink or swim" attitude (not what a child with low self-esteem needs). They promised that the teachers would sign her agenda every day to help her keep up with her assignments, and only one teacher really did that. We bought books, a uniform and paid $3,000 for tuition and fees so that she could go there 4 weeks! Without discussion, they asked her not to return. How sad, because despite the broken promises, our daughter was actually doing better in this school and her grades showed it. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

My son came to Fairhill in 9th grade after he struggled in a public school to the point that he had no self esteem and hated learning. Fairhill has turned his life and his parents lives around. He now loves school, his self esteem is back and he is learning to cope with his learning differences with the wonderful support he gets from his teachers. He is not afraid to ask for help and is willing to go to tutoring if needed. He gets to do all the extra curricular activities he wants to and has time for. I truly believe had my son stayed in a public school he would have been a high school drop-out, now I see him going to college. My only regret is that I didn't send him to Fairhill earlier.
