Fort Worth Academy has been such a wonderful experience for our family. The school truly lives out its mission of developing confident, curious, and kind learners. The teachers know each child so well , not just academically, but personally and they work hard to build confidence in every student.
As a parent, I love the balance between strong academics and hands-on, project-based learning. The environment encourages creativity, teamwork, and leadership from an early age. Communication with parents is excellent, and the sense of community among families is genuine . Everyone truly looks out for one another.

Our daughter has grown so much here, not just in her reading and math skills, but in how she thinks, speaks up, and believes in herself. Fort Worth Academy is a special place that feels like an extended family, and I’m so grateful for the impact it’s had on her and our family.

Working at FWA has been such a rewarding experience. It’s not only a great place to work, but also a wonderful school for students. The small class sizes allow for more individualized attention and stronger connections between teachers and students. I love that our students get to engage in meaningful projects that make learning exciting and hands-on. The supportive environment, creative opportunities, and strong sense of community truly make FWA a special place for both staff and students.

Homework is intentional and relevant. Parental support is not often needed.

Posted: November 3, 2019

Teachers at this school are experienced and agile. They are able to gauge if/when something is not working and try a different approach.

These core values are demonstrated by the faculty and staff and are embedded into the learning platform.

I have not had any experience with bullying at FWA. However, I do value the zero tolerance policy.

My son is in 5th grade and absolutely loves going to school everyday! He is being challenged academically and participates in athletics, fine arts and social activities. We love the welcoming environment and the diversity of students and families. FWA is gem right here in Fort Worth, Texas!

We chose FWA because it truly offered a personalized learning approach for our son. More than just the words in the brochure or the presentation, they delivered on all of their promises. Our son showed up as a shy, quiet boy and left FWA with self-confidence and a great foundation with which to continue his learning. He is now graduating from high school, after coming a member of the National Honor Society and is on his way to Curry College outside of Boston with a significant merit scholarship. FWA is a gem within the Fort Worth Educational Community--there would be other place I would have my children go.

I have three children, now ages 12, 14, and 16. I started all of my children in a Jewish pre-school that went through kindergarten and transitioned them to Fort Worth Academy in first grade. Before choosing Fort Worth Academy for our oldest child, my wife and I visited all of the local private schools that had no religious affiliation. Since we are practicing Jews, the local Christian schools were not an option for us. After visiting the secular private schools within a few miles of our house, we selected Fort Worth Academy. The experience has been terrific. Our children has have learned a great deal. My older daughter had an excellent foundation for the Honors Program at Paschal High School, where she is now. Fort Worth Academy is flexible in the way it addresses the particular needs of individual children. Our children are all different. Our middle daughter is academically gifted. She was way ahead in mathematics. The school recognized that talent and accelerated her a grade level in math a couple of years ago.

We wanted our children to study Hebrew language, in addition to Spanish. About 12years ago, a Hebrew language programs was established as an extra-curricular, non-credit elective. My wife and I took over the program 10 years ago (when our oldest daughter enrolled) and it continues. 8-10 students participate each semester, not all of them Jewish. Fort Worth Academy provides free space for a Hebrew teacher to teach Hebrew language 2 days each week for families who want it. The teacher's salary is paid by parent contributions and by support from the local Jewish community. The Administration works with us coordinate the Hebrew program with the regular school schedules of the kids who enroll. The flexibility and cooperation is gratifying.

For a small school, Fort Worth Academy had a good athletic program. All of our children are athletically active. My older daughter played volleyball and basketball at Fort Worth Academy. She now plays club volleyball and plays for Paschal High School. Our younger daughter played volleyball for Fort Worth Academy. She now plays club volleyball and also wants to play for Paschal. Our 12 year old son plays basketball and baseball, while also playing baseball for a Little League team. Fort Worth Academy has helped all three of our children develop as athletes and as sportsmen.

Some are better than others, which true in any school, generally they are effective. Different students react different to different teachers, which normal. My son is very fond of his history and science teacher, who is also the basketball coach. He has learned a lot in both subjects.

Posted: April 2, 2016

My kids are fairly busy doing homework, but not so busy that they cannot play their respective sports pursue outside interests, such as music.

The School teaches those values everyday. I see it in the teachers and in the coaches.

My son came to Fort Worth Academy in the 3rd grade; we had moved from St. Louis, the place he knew as home. The transition was challenging, but my boy is not shy and approached the school's amazing head, Bill Broderick, and shared with him his former school's great project, THE EGG DROP. Suffice it to say that the school is now celebrating its own, very innovative fifth year doing an egg drop. What is significant about this experience is that the Academy, and its amazing faculty and staff, are responsive to the innovative spirit of its students. This experience not only helped my son feel more a part of a new school, but he had the chance to actually do the work and to demonstrate how to be a leader and a follower all at the same time.

The Academy has been a fantastic learning environment for our 3 children. We love the teacher and the parents! Our kids learn how to deal with technology. The parents also learn from experts (lawyers, technology specialists) how to help children use technology in a positive way. This is so important because the world our children live in is so different from the world in which their parents grew up. A few years ago our oldest child graduated. When you graduate from FWA, you are heavily recruited by premier private and public high schools. When she graduated she had several options on where she could attend high school. She was accepted at both Fort Worth Country Day and Trinity Valley schools. She was also accepted into the Paschal Advanced Academics Program (formerly known as the Scholars Program). She did extremely well her freshman year of high school. She attributes that to being very well prepared by The Academy. Her parents totally agree! Do not let the K-8 model scare you. It is a natural break for kids to move on after 8th grade. During their "senior year" the students feel like they are "big men/women on campus." We have had children at FWA since 2006. It has been wonderful! We wouldn't change a thing about it!

Right away we were impressed with the professionalism of the administration and faculty. We also love the small classroom environment. The student to teacher ratio is 12:1. That's important for our daughter who is initially soft-spoken. Children with this personality are often labeled with learning disabilities. However, at Fort Worth Academy she discovered her love for entrepreneurship, and this discovery became a motivator. Our daughter found another way to engage academically. As a result, we learned how to motivate her in the learning process at home. We also discovered different ways to motivate our other children educationally. The personal attention she received was an important step to determining how she learns.
If you want a school where the administration and faculty care about the whole child while maintaining a competitive academic experience with a personal touch and high parental engagement, look no further!

I have two children at Academy. Our experience has been very positive. We moved them to Academy lower school from a public elementary so they could benefit from the small classes and engaged teachers. We've found the curriculum and homework to be challenging but appropriate. There is an open and fluid feel to the school- students are challenged to their individual abilities but they are also allowed to be kids and their unique interests and backgrounds are respected and seen as a strength. The headmaster and staff strive to be innovative and forward-thinking which translates to students who think outside the box and who are valued for their unique contributions.

The school has the reputation for taking kids that no other school wants. Lots of behavior problems. Teachers aren't given the liberty to discipline. Not structured enough. Kids have too much freedom. Principal defends any action that happens regarding staff. Will not accept constructive criticism. Has two sides to his personality. Sadly, money talks at this school. If you aren't donating, then you aren't key to the success of the school. Too much emphasis on computers for everything and less emphasis on handwriting. Computers are always needing work. It's unfortunate the way it is run, as there are some very good teachers there that have their hands tied so to speak. My advice is to look elsewhere.

The Academy is truly an incredible school. Upon our first visit, we knew that it was the school for our son. We love the small classroom size, state of the art technology, and the amazing facility, led by Head of School, William Broderick. The students are engaged, happy, and nurtured by their teachers. As a parent, it is a great feeling to pull up at 7:45 am and see Mr. Broderick waiting to greet the students in carpool, all of whom he knows by name. The Academy is a community within a community that I recommend any parent seeking the "best quality education" explore.

Sending our son to Fort Worth Academy for Kindergarten was the best decision my husband and I made. He looks forward to school and comes home excited to share with us all the amazing things he has learned. The small student to teacher ratio has allowed our son to feel more confident about himself and be able to get any extra attention he may need to ensure he is understanding the material they are studying. I am truly amazed how innovative his teachers are in creating excitement in learning and how Fort Worth Academy encourages this from their teachers. Fort Worth Academy truly is an AMAZING school.

With each day I take my daughter to school at the Academy, I am remember when she was in Kindergarten. Each morning, sun, rain or snow, she could see her school on the hill from across the field. Kate would scream with excitement, "my school, I see my school." That is the best feeling as parent to know you chose the right place for her. She is loved, respected and encouraged. Now Kate is in 5th grade and it is not cool to say those words anymore but everyday when I pick her up, I ask, "how was school today?" Kate's responses has yet to be negative. Words like amazing, awesome, great, and good come from her. Kate still knows she is loved, respected and encouraged. Darla Robinson, proud mom of Kate Robinson

We enrolled our daughter the week before Thanksgiving of her 7th grade year. I had been hesitant to look at Fort Worth Academy because it only went to 8th grade, but we met Mr. Broderick at a Fort Worth Private School gathering. Our daughter talked with him and was interested in the 1:1 laptop program. She toured the school and was literally eager to attend. She was immediately accepted socially which is huge in middle school. The teachers were very helpful with a student starting late in the semester. She has been challenged academically and is enjoying great success in 8th grade. I think FWA has done a fantastic job of preparing our daughter for high school. My only regret is that we didn't discover Fort Worth Academy earlier.

The head master & staff are amazing!!! We had 3 children attend the academy and they all loved the hands on learning, small class rooms and that the headmaster met them at the car at drop off to greet them by name for the beginning of their day. Words simply can't explain how much we love the academy.

Fort Worth Academy is a great school ! We enrolled our daughter in Fort Worth Academy mid-semester last fall because we felt that the education she was getting in her FWISD school was no longer encouraging thought and creativity. She was not realizing her potential in that environment which was centered around standardized testing. We have been very impressed with both the school and our daughter s renewed excitement about learning. The school offers science class, daily physical education, and the arts. The children are stimulated. The teachers are enthusiastic and the staff knows every student. This is possible because the class sizes are small and focused. We also like that the school is only K-8. This keeps the kids from being in the shadow of the older teenagers like what can happen at some of the other private schools. We would encourage anybody who is looking for quality education in a nurturing and safe environment to consider Fort Worth Academy.

I feel so incredibly lucky that our son is able to attend kindergarten at Fort Worth Academy. He is happy to go to school everyday and is happy when I pick him up. This morning he asked if he had school today and said, "the best days are school days". FWA caps their classrooms with 15 students. This is perfect for my son, who loves to be creative. The low student to teacher ratio allows my son's teachers to allow him (and all the students) to really branch out creatively and focus on each child's ability level in all subjects. It also insures that students have the ability to advance to the next level when they are ready, while allowing others to keep learning on pace. I also love that FWA is K-8. This allows the children to be children. I wanted him to have an elementary school experience, to be young, and to feel at home in his school. And in 9 years when he is off to high school, FWA students have close to a 100% acceptance rate to their first choice high school.

What can I say that hasn't already been said so eloquently by other reviewers? Not only was FWA the wisest choice for our kids, it was the best possible choice for our family! The school community has been the most welcoming group of teachers, administrators and families I have ever come across. Not only will my boys have treasured friends to keep in touch with in years to come, so will my husband and I!!

My daughter started Kindergarten in September 2014. My husband and I carefully selected FWA based on the school's culture and education. The small classroom size lends itself to student centered learning while maintaining an over all accelerated syllabus. FWA has a wonderful program built to increase global knowledge and my daughter has classmates from other countries able to offer first hand accounts. My daughter's teacher is warm, consistent, bright and open minded. I attended FWA from 1986 until I graduated in 1991. The school still stands on genuine, unassuming roots, but a technology and entrepreneurship culture has propelled FWA into a cutting edge facility.

As a former FWA student myself, I was familiar with their smaller class sizes and nurturing environment...but it had been 25+ years since I had stepped inside the doors of Fort Worth Academy. When we made the decision to start our son at FWA his kindergarten year we were grateful that it had maintained the same feel I had experienced, but improved in so many ways. We have been extremely pleased with both teachers our son has had both in Kindergarten and now in first grade. Their curriculum is challenging yet engaging for the student. It has been exciting to watch our son grow! Their commitment to academic excellence is apparent through all levels and staff. We continue to appreciate the great communication they have with us and that they recognize the importance of a joint relationship in learning between school and parents.

As a prior military family we were no strangers to researching schools for our two daughters. A summer move brought us to Ft. Worth and FWA and we could not be more pleased. It is truly everything they advertise and more! Incredible nurturing staff, small class size, individualized learning, challenging curriculum, with an emphasis on creativity that we had never seem before. We can honestly say, that FWA is an incredible school!

Fort Worth Academy is an Incredible school! The teachers and staff really care about the children. The children recognize this and strive to do their very best to make their teachers proud. Learning is fun here!!!

We could not be happier and more impressed with Fort Worth Academy. My wife and I both have advanced degrees in education and recognize that this school is not hyped up - it really is incredible! There is virtually no turnover among faculty or staff and the students always appear happy, peaceful and actively learning. Some schools use a lot of buzz words about education, but then revert to old fashioned techniques. Not true for FWA - the faculty, led by a remarkable Head of School (Mr. Broderick) are extremely well trained and actively implementing current educational best practices. We would not send our child anywhere else - in our opinion this is the premiere elementary/middle school in Fort Worth. Even other elite private schools cannot provide the level of individual attention and academic stimulation available at FWA. In addition to the rigorous academic setting, the parents are extremely active and involved. This school has a very "family-like" feel to it. We were impressed by the social, economic, and cultural diversity present here as well. It is a joy to send our child to school each day.

It is an " incredible " school where I see the teachers understand the simple fact that each kid is different and they work towards bringing the best out of each kid. I can see that they have a structure and also make sure the kid is not being pressurized. Making them feel " learning is fun"- which is the most important thing for them to be confident in what they do. I have my elder kid here and he loves it every day. I am waiting to send my younger one next year.

My son has gone to this school for 3 years. We have other children and when they are ready they will also attend. The staff is remarkable. The ability to be a part of your child's education and to be informed and involved cannot be measured. My child loves the head of school Mr. Broderick. He strives to be better just because he respects him so much and my child is 7. FWA is a proud, elevated yet unpretentious school. Can't imagine going anywhere else.

This school was absolutely terrible. I had attended the school throughout elementary and almost all the way through middle school before I made the decision to leave. This school does absolutely nothing to help with bullying. If you're bullied by a child of a parent on the board or a large donor, they push the incident aside or merely blame it on you. I was constantly harassed, made fun of, and all of this time: it was MY fault. The administration is awful. There are a few gems of teachers in the pile of pebbles, but overall, an awful school. The laptops DO NOT help with learning. My math and testing scores continued to decline after receiving my laptop in middle school. There's also close to no security on them as well. Save your money and attend a different school. They make it seem like it's an amazing school, but please, get your children out of there and to a school where they will be treated fairly, educated well, and loved. That place is not, and never will be, Fort Worth Academy.

Posted: April 26, 2013

Not challenging and not worth the money. Go somewhere else. My son was too smart for this school and it wasn't challenging at all. They will tell you every year there isn't room but trust me there always is room because they need the money to survive.

At FWA our children have been nurtured by the excellent staff and have been given opportunities for unique learning experiences not provided by other institutions. We love our school!

Posted: February 17, 2013

This is a truly wonderful school. My daughter has been attending since kindergarten and I wouldn't consider sending her anywhere else. The focus is solidly on academic achievement but, because of the small class size, the teachers are able to help each student reach his or her maximum potential. The students who are natural achievers soar, with test scores in the 99th percentile nationwide, while students who need extra help or who learn differently are given the individualized attention they need to keep pace with the rest of the class. The teachers are all excellent and really appear to love the work of making learning meaningful and fun; assignments and class projects are imaginative and challenging in a way that anticipates a college workload. The families who send their kids to this school are culturally, socially and economically diverse but are unified by their belief in the importance of an excellent education for their children. It is a very friendly, supportive, and accepting environment for both students and families. There are less expensive private schools, and schools with bigger campuses and bigger names, but there is no better school.

I went to this school for two years and at first it took me awhile to get used to constant laptop use, but eventually laptops became very resourceful. It was a wonderful experience and there is amazing high school counseling for eighth graders going into high school the next year. Your child will get an amazing education and they go on great educational class trips, and the teachers are always there for you. In fact, there are teachers i will never forget. School comes much easier to me now after going to Fort Worth Academy. Your child will always feel welcome and at home. The students are very easy to get along with and make you feel wanted at all times. Whatever your child's academic status is they will always have a way to put them in the right classes needed.

There's no place like home, there's no place like home. This is the best school in the world, wonderful teachings, high tech laptops in all classes K-8th, awesome extra enrichment programs offered, chess, art, sports, talented teachers, strong family volunteers, great teachers. Strong academic program, no more than 15 students per class, caring strong board of directors. A good solid academic program, children are preparing for their futures, this school won a highly respected award for being of the top laptop schools. A fun wonderful educational school, not a rigid environment, very comforting, nurtuing caring environment. My children have attended this school for years, the teachers really go out of their way for students. This is a wonderful school that is small, has proven great results where these children get top pics for high school-they have recruiters come trying to get these kids to attend their high school. FWA children are well prepared for the world and the curricula is a solid program. Spanish, technology, math, science, sports, history, all at this great school. Wonderful field trips, great school family events too.

Please do not send your child to this school. Once your child gets a laptop, you have to constantly watch to make sure they are not exposed to anything inappropriate. The security procedures on the laptops are very poor and even non-existent in many cases. I don't believe 10-year-olds (5th graders) should be allowed to download almost anything. Kids IM each other during class or try to play games online. These laptops did not replace most of the textbooks and were constantly breaking down or locking up. Once our child got the laptop, math scores declined each year. Overall, the teachers are great, but the administration is very slanted towards big donors. Our child is now at another private school with good leaders and no laptops and scores have improved.

Sometimes it's the small things that are the best. With a small k-8th grade laptop technology school, that is breaking down barriers and inspiring education like no other public or private school in the entire metroplex and state of TX for that matter. FWA is by far surpassing many schools in the nation. FWA has won 2 awards within this past year, along with being distinguished for the excellent academics. A small delightful learning environment of no more than 15 kids per class room, Spanish, Science, Math, Reading, PE, Art, Music and more! There are wonderful staff who always take great pride in teaching, this school gets it, it is what it is all about taking care of the kids and inspiring learning. With football, baseball, volleyball, cheerleading, musical instruments lessons, art classes, chess club and technology club, this school is not only inviting, this school, is amazing. Terrific children who love learning, great parental volunteering, and activities all year long with the parents club. This school is not cheap however its not expensive, tuition cost is right in the middle, you get a great value of learning and social interaction for a good price.

Teachers middle and lower school, professional, caring and top notch credentials. Academics, hands on technology with integration of all subjects, math, science, reading, social studies etc. Small class size no more than 15 kids per class room. Preppy cute uniforms, lots and lots of added activities after school, reasonably affordable private school with everything offered. K-8th grade co-ed school. Family support by parents who volunteer allot. The school also won an award for being a lap top technology school and has been noted as a great school in various books as a top school in the nation. This school looks at the little details, very helpful and always there for parents. Small class size for productive learning, art and music classes are excellent. Spanish classes are very innovative and hands on. Science classes are exploratory. There are many sports offered, volleyball, football, cheerleading, chess, art, golf, band music classes and Hebrew is offered.
