We have had two students at Bethesda for over eight years, and it has truly become an extension of our family. What sets Bethesda apart is the strength of its community and the intentional culture cultivated by its leadership. The faculty and staff genuinely know our children, care for them deeply, and consistently invest in building character, responsibility, and a lasting love of learning. Even now, as upper elementary and middle school students, our children are excited to go to school each day. They have formed meaningful, lifelong friendships and gained lessons that reach far beyond academics. We are deeply grateful for the people, leadership, and Christ-centered culture that make Bethesda such a special place.

Bethesda Christian School is an exceptional place for students and families. BCS provides a truly well-rounded, Christ-centered education that goes far beyond academics. The learning environment is intentional, engaging, and focused on developing the whole child, academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.

The teachers at Bethesda are outstanding. They are knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply invested in their students. Instruction is thoughtful and structured, with an emphasis on both foundational skills and critical thinking. Teachers know their students well and differentiate instruction to help every child grow and succeed. Learning feels purposeful, not rushed or transactional.

One of Bethesda’s greatest strengths is how well students are known and cared for. Social-emotional development is clearly a priority. Students are taught character, responsibility, empathy, and resilience in a way that feels authentic and age-appropriate. The staff partners closely with families to support students through challenges, ensuring kids feel safe, supported, and valued.

Bethesda does an excellent job supporting students with learning differences. The school is proactive, collaborative, and compassionate in providing accommodations and individualized support. Communication with families is clear and timely, and the goal is always to help students thrive—not label or limit them.

Safety is taken seriously, both physically and emotionally. The campus is secure, well-organized, and supervised, and there is a strong culture of respect and accountability. Students feel safe being themselves, and families can trust that their children are well cared for throughout the school day.

Bethesda truly feels like a family. Parents are welcomed as partners, communication is strong, and there are meaningful opportunities for families to be involved. The sense of community is genuine, staff, students, and families support one another, celebrate together, and work toward a shared mission.

Bethesda Christian School is a place where students are challenged academically, supported emotionally, and grounded in strong values. Families looking for a school that prioritizes excellence, character, and community will find something truly special here.

I am a former student of this school that had left in 2025 and if you want to enroll your kid in this school, please don’t. I had been bullied many times over and over again here to the point I didn’t even want to get up to go here. Extremely disappointed of this school. I can’t believe it’s even considered for a Christian school.

Bethesda stands out as one of the finest private Christian schools in the DFW area. The leadership team, along with the teachers and staff, fosters an incredible and nurturing learning atmosphere. Both of my sons are enrolled at Bethesda, where they have thrived academically and socially. Additionally, they have grown in their character and biblical understanding. I feel truly grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community!

We are proud parents of a student at Bethesda and are incredibly grateful for the administration, staff, and students of this phenomenal school. Our son joined mid-year, and the school has gone above and beyond to make him feel welcome and help him adjust to both the new environment and curriculum.

The level of care and dedication from the staff is truly remarkable. We’ve already noticed significant academic and spiritual growth in our child, which speaks volumes about the supportive and nurturing environment Bethesda provides.

The students here are not only well-loved but also encouraged and supported in every way. We feel truly blessed to be part of this wonderful community and couldn’t be happier with our decision to join Bethesda.

I attended this school for high school. There were definitely some dedicated and talented teachers and staff, but a science department that teaches that the earth is 6,000-10,000 years old is not great preparation for a serious career in the sciences. One class ("Worldviews") was basically a semester-long cold-war era screed against communism and New Age trends that actually spoke admiringly of Phyllis Schlafly. My experience was that whenever critical thinking was pitted against conservative dogma, the dogma won.

I grew up in Bethesda, so it not only gave me lifelong friends, but also teachers from my younger years who still support me and check in on me. One of the greatest benefits from going to a small private school is that I had the opportunity to try out everything. I was able to participate in sports and fine arts. Instead of having to choose just one extracurricular that was my "thing," I did many which helped shape me into a well-rounded student and looked good on college applications. In addition, because of the smaller size, I could practice my leadership skills by taking on different leadership roles among my peers and in clubs. The teachers really cared about me as a student and a person and it's always a pleasure to get to catch up with them when I come back to visit.

They were accepted, loved, and started thriving right away! Bethesda attends to learning differences well, something hard to find in private schools. The leadership team are innovative thinkers, the staff is world-class, the students are amazing,! We couldn't ask for a better place! We cannot say enough!

Even with the changes in leadership that riled people up in 2018 that you may read about in other reviews, the school is and will continue to be excellent. BCS is controlled by the church. The long tenured, very highly regarded principal was fired because she did not immediately embrace the new direction the senior pastor wants to take the school. She asked questions to get clarification regarding the new direction but did not get answers b/c the details had not been determined. The way the church handled her firing, which occurred 4 weeks into the new school year, & the lack of transparency surrounding the situation, reveal that they do not fully appreciate how their actions affect BCS. BCS is not the same great school it had established itself to be. The peace which it had is gone. Many families have withdrawn b/c of the church's & senior pastor's actions. Teachers & staff have & are leaving. Teachers report the environment to be hostile. The school will continue to be good academically for a while by piggybacking off what had already been established by the old principal. But overtime, it will not yield the amazing results. The one who was instrumental in developing & maintaining the quality, successful program is gone. Non educators (pastors) are determining the bottom line for the school now.

Bethesda Christian is an answered prayer for our family! My spouse and I both attended private schools and knew we wanted to do the same with our children. Things we were looking for: excellence in academics, a family-like atmosphere, a non-country club feel, diversity, and a focus on Christ. Bethesda hits it out of the ballpark on all of these points! Our three children love school and are excelling in all areas. So thankful!

We have been at Bethesda for seven years. We had to pull our children out this year because of the unjustified changes regarding the school leadership and planned firing of the respected principal that has served faithfully for over 30 years. These changes have been driven by the church and those pastors that have no educational backgrounds. This situation has caused division at BCS and has caused countless families to withdraw (approximately 35 students to date) and many teachers and staff have resigned. The church and school need a separation.

After having children enrolled at Bethesda Christian School for over 8 years now, I can, without hesitation, say it is truly a place of excellence in every way. The history of the school is rich and full of successes. Started by Bethesda Community Church after seeing the deterioration of the pubic school system in the early 80's, they deeply desired a place for their children to feel loved and safe while obtaining a top notch education. That history and purpose continues even today. My children and I feel it every time we walk in the doors. And the friendships that the PARENTS enjoy with each other gives Bethesda the feel of a big family. Our teachers are second to none and genuinely care for the kids. You feel it in every classroom.

Our tribe is strong and I look forward to all the new changes that are being implemented at the caring hands of our incredibly trustworthy leadership.

Posted: October 4, 2018

They have implemented new processes to help better regulate the amount of homework the kids have. And are looking at even more improvement in this area. The leadership has recently reiterated their desire to allow children to have their family time back, which will only strengthen each one.

My children thrive here and are easily one to two or more grade levels above their public school equivalent academically. There have been some changes but it has all been for the betterment of the school and we are excited to see what is coming to the school. BCS is home for our family, the teachers, staff, administration and other parents and families are like family to us. Most everyone is involved and many families get to know one another inside and outside the class rooms. There is no other place I’d rather have my children.

Bethesda has historically been a very high-performing school academically with a godly, long-term principal. The school has had a Christ-centered atmosphere, lots of peace, and a good reputation in the community for many years. I would give the school a four-star rating based on my past experience there; however, I am giving it three stars now because BCS is currently undergoing major transitions in its administration and educational model, as well as experiencing an increased level of oversight and involvement by its ministry parent, Bethesda Community Church. The school is in a state of flux, and how it will emerge from that state remains to be seen. Prospective families need to be aware that the new two-track academic model may be difficult to implement (at least in the short term) due to limited resources available to the school (in finances, enrollment figures, number of personnel and facility size). Ask a LOT of probing questions regarding the new academic plan.

Posted: September 24, 2018

In the past, the school has been geared to the academically advanced. The pacing and homework load has been a common reason why some families have chosen to withdraw their children from BCS. Within my own family, I had one (advanced) child who handled it well and was able to complete homework within a reasonable time frame; the other did fine grade-wise, but had to spend many hours each day to complete assignments. This child never complained, but I often worried that it was too much for her and that she would burn out. I would have withdrawn her from BCS over this issue, but my spouse didn't want to do that.

Posted: September 24, 2018

I believe the teachers genuinely care about the students and desire to see them learn.

Posted: September 24, 2018

Character has always been strongly emphasized in its program, even more than academics.

Posted: September 24, 2018

Bethesda's long-term principal was recently dismissed due to unresolved differences with the church leadership and school and church boards over the future direction of the school. Bethesda's capable vice principal is currently serving as the interim principal, but the curriculum director resigned in the wake of the principal's dismissal.

Mrs. Vaughn is a wonderful principal. She works so hard to make BCS a Christ centered school. All the admin at the school are wonderful.

Posted: January 11, 2018

Yes! They are great with working with kids with dyslexia (even have a specialist at the school) and other issues as well. They accommodate speech and learning issues.

Posted: January 11, 2018

I have had no issues with bullying in the 6 years we have been here.

Posted: January 11, 2018

It really depends on the teacher. The homework load is not bad imo but gets harder the higher grades. But I also feel that is a good thing and helps prepare them for college. But even in kindergarten they have a math worksheet a day. It takes my child 5 minutes or less to do it though and has helped prepare them to just get their homework done quickly. So all in all I feel like the homework is appropriate most of the time.

Posted: January 11, 2018

Love all the teachers! They truly love your child and teaching them.

I attended Bethesda from kindergarten through graduation, the only exception being first grade. Bethesda challenged me academically, but I view the challenge I experienced as Bethesda's biggest asset. Bethesda gets their students ready for college and the corporate world. They instill a work ethic that sticks with students forever. I remember when I started college and even in the corporate world. I felt like I had an advantage over other people, based on the study habits Bethesda instilled in me and on the ability to write a research paper. It was amazing to me to see the number of fellow college students that did not possess the basic understanding of how to formulate a research paper.

The administrators and faculty at Bethesda, led my Mrs. Vaughn, are by far the best in the industry. They truly care about the students and the families and strive to mold their students into godly men and women. Bethesda builds faith into the foundation of their curriculum, which provides students with an understanding of how they can apply their faith to every subject of life.

I would highly recommend Bethesda to any family moving to the Fort Worth area. If life brings my family back to the metroplex, Bethesda is the only school my kids will go to.

I attended Bethesda Christian School from early elementary school through graduation. I appreciated and respected principal Vicki Vaughn and my teachers while attending, and over the years since graduating, that appreciation has grown exponentially. I can't fully express how humbled and grateful I am for the godly influence of Mrs. Vaughn and the teachers who POURED into me during those critical formative years. I see how the Lord used their instruction and mentorship to help establish a solid foundation in my life. They modeled and helped instill in me strong character, scripture knowledge so I firmly know what I believe and why, discipline, a commitment to excellence, and the self-worth that comes from knowing who I am in the Lord.

Academically, it is a challenging school, but I can personally attest that the high percentage of BCS national merit scholars and students who achieve other academic accomplishments does not mean only above average or brilliant kids thrive at BCS. Committed average students excel in this solid academic program -- it helps kids realize their potential. And this is possible only because of the dedicated and talented teachers and principal who work to help everyone succeed.

Of course no institution is perfect, but the quality of the principal, staff and teachers is fantastic. Mrs. Vaughn is one of the most godly people I know, and I am so grateful for her example. She is steadfast in remaining sensitive to the Lord and firm in her commitment to obey him. I believe that it is in large part because of her godly leadership that the Lord has shown such favor upon and protection of BCS in a time when Christianity and the Christian world view is under attack.

My most heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Vaughn and the many teachers who mentored, taught and trained me spiritually and academically. Any success I've experienced in life is due in large part to the life lessons I learned while attending Bethesda Christian School.

Bethesda Christian School of Fort Worth, Texas is one of the premier Christian schools in the nation. Having children who attended this school I can honestly say that the teaching staff are far from mediocre as mentioned in one review. That person could not possibly be talking about BCS of Fort Worth, Texas., which is recognized as one of the finest educational programs around to prepare a student for life, not just for college. Its curriculum and emphasis on Christian world view is anchored in the Honorable Character program that is internationally used and recognized as an effective classroom management system both in public and private schools. BCS of Fort Worth pioneered this classroom management system. Teachers are there because they are called to a ministry of love and caring for each and every student to help them succeed. This school compares quite favorably to any of the finest schools within its geographical area, both public and private. Go to the school's website, bcsfw.org, and see for yourself. I am well pleased with the results my children experienced in preparing them for higher education and for life, and would repeat the experience again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this school for both quality and for value. It is one of the greatest investments in your child's future you could make if you live in the Fort Worth area.

It is a school with mediocre teachers. If you are able to actually augment your child's education yourself (almost like home school) then your child will get an above average education. Forget AP courses or having your child prepared to take any AP exams. If you live in a poor public school area, then this school wouldn't be bad, but don't expect an excellent education. They do teach ethics, but isn't that your job as a parent? Go there realizing that your child will NOT get excellent academics, but he/she will get excellent biblical teaching.

I am a former student who just graduated with the Class of 2016. I have attended Bethesda since I was a small child eating snacks, learning my ABC's, and taking naps in the day care. As I got older I realized how blessed I was to attend Bethesda. The principal, Vicki Vaughn, is one of the greatest women I have ever met. She has never allowed "running a school" interfere with her compassion and kindness. My family has been blessed by her and the staff more times than I can count. They were there when my brother passed away, when I Had knee surgery, and when I was the first in my family to be accepted to college.
I won't say it's any easy school because I have seen students struggle, but what sets Bethesda apart is the staff and STUDENTS hearts to help those who struggle. Mrs. Davis, the middle school science teacher, has tutoring periods for her students and welcomes any struggling student. She was my robotics coach and mentor all the way up until I graduated. If I ever had a question she answered it straight forward with a Godly answer that was given out of love.
Again, Bethesda is a college prep school with a heart for God. Their character development is phenomenal. Without it I would definitely not be who I am today. They have taught me that leaders begin with service and integrity. Plus they give many opportunities to show this. I personally was the president of NHS while my classmates held other titles like Stuco members, team captains, chaplains, and class presidents. Bethesda's job has been to create leaders that will succeed in college and life. I can say I feel prepared as I head off to join the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M with my first year paid for through copious amounts of scholarships. I ached for the structure Bethesda gave me and that's why I have chosen a structured life. I know college at A&M won't be easy, but through the preparation I received from Bethesda both academically and spiritually I will succeed.
Remember that there may be reviews that just speak about kids being kids with their rebellious side of not like teachers or dress code (both are petty). We know they are cruel and mean, but those few "bad apples" do not represent this family as a whole. Bethesda loves Jesus and takes care of their own and I would recommend it to any family who wants their child to have an excellent education.

If you are wanting a true return on investment for your child with a college scholarship, having your child be taught by an incredible highly-qualified staff in an environment that builds up students' character as well as their academic success and has a curriculum that is at least 2-3 years advanced than the "top rated" public school districts...look no further than Bethesda Christian School! My husband and I both hold our principal certification and have been employees in two of the largest school districts for over 10 years and keeping our children in Bethesda Christian School from K-12 is a NON-NEGOTIABLE commitment for our family!

BCS is a great school. This is our fifth year at BCS, we currently have two children attending with a third to attend soon. The teachers and staff genuinely care for the kids and families at BCS. We had our children in the public education system before attending BCS, and moved them due to lack of discipline and character reinforcement, however, our eyes were opened in a huge way to the lack of strong academics in the public school system. We want our children to be prepared for college, to know how to study, and most importantly to be compassionate, ethical, have moral values, and love The Lord. BCS teaches all of these things to their students. We love that our children are not just a number at BCS, and enjoy going to school each day. The only reason I did not give a five star rating is that would say that BCS is perfect, and if they are perfect that would mean they have nothing to learn, or improve upon. Schools should always strive to continue the learning process and improve as the world is always changing. If you are looking for a wonderful school with strong academics in an environment which the teachers, staff, and students love The Lord, BCS is the place.

There is no bullying program at Bethesda. Even though the "push you down and take your lunch money" kind of bullying is forbidden, my son was the victim of social bullying at Bethesda.

My son has been at Bethesda for 3 years. He started kindergarten there and will be entering the 3rd grade this fall. We love it at BCS. The teachers and staff truly care about the kids and their education. Everything they do at BCS is centered around Jesus Christ and his teachings. The academics are rigorous and that is what we want for our son. The education system in America is one of the worst in the world and we wanted to make sure that our child received a strong education.

My grandson is a student at Bethesda and as a grandparent, I am very involved at the school. I love the education that my grandson is receiving. He is getting a strong academic and Christ based education. The teachers and staff really seem to enjoy their jobs and are great with the students. I love the fact that as a grandparent I am accepted by everyone at the school and encouraged to be a part of my grandson's school experience.

We have two children and 1 niece that have attended Bethesda for over 4 years, since Kindergarten and our experience has been exceptional. The environment is very nurturing and while the curriculum is very rigorous, the teacher and students are very supportive. The high school students are so good with the elementary kids, saying hello and helping them in the hallway. It's makes my kids feel so special ;) There is also a focus on highlighting each child's gifts from God so that each child feels good about their own strengths and has the support to work on their challenges. It's no surprise that Mrs Vaughn has been nationally recognized as a wonderful principal.

At Bethesda Christian School I watched my ideas about education change before my eyes as the day progressed. I saw teachers enjoying their job and their students. I saw students motivated to learn. I never saw a teacher harshly reprimand a student or inflict negative discipline. Behavior issues were handled with a gentle reminder of expectations without humiliation to the child. Positive behavior was recognized and held as the example. Honorable Character taught me that the ideals I believed are possible were. Students can be educated in a positive environment that builds them as a whole person. Students are given tools that will not only assist them in their education, but as persons as well. Honorable Character is education for the whole child.

We are finishing our first year at Bethesda, and we are beyond blessed with loving and Godly teachers, outstanding principal, and the quality of education.

This is the most amazing school. Very strong academics but most importantly the children have super role models in there principle, teachers and administrators. Children spend so much time at school that the influence of those around the is immense. The best school ever!!!

Bethesda is an exceptional Christian school, very strong academically as well as in Christian character training. You do not have to wonder whether the "Christian" in the school's name reflects the atmosphere in the school. It most certainly does. Bethesda students tend to have a strong work ethic academically. As a whole, our students perform very high on standardized tests at all grades. The hard work seems to pay off when it comes time for college, as many of our students receive significant academic merit scholarships. It should be noted, however, that the pace and homework load (especially at the secondary level) may be too challenging for some children to handle. If your child's academic preparation at another school has been weak--or your child is not a good student or simply moves at a slower pace by nature--you need to prayerfully consider whether Bethesda would be a good fit.

It is a very good and prestigious school, and very Godly. They help prepare you for college at a very high level, and make time for God in all of their lesson plans. The teachers are all Godly men and women, and no matter what the schedule is, they always make time for God in their classrooms. The Honorable Character chart gives the school a backbone for raising good young men and women, which our society needs so greatly now.

We have three children attending Bethesda and we love it! Our oldest child is in her seventh year at Bethesda. Before choosing Bethesda, we visited several other schools in the area with a long list of questions in hand. For each question we had, Bethesda was the school that had the answer we were seeking. During our years at Bethesda we have been impressed not only with the challenging academics, but also with the teachers' genuine care and concern for the students. We feel that our children are receiving a quality education with a Biblical worldview which will greatly help prepare them for college and adulthood. If you are looking for a Christian school for your child, this one is definitely worth a visit.

Our daughter graduated from Bethesda Christian School. We feel that she recieved a wonderful education. The faculty and staff were caring and well qualified. She is now in college and many times her professors will ask where she attended high school. They often will compliment Bethesda Christian School for doing a fine job. We agree!

My son attended BCS from 7th grade through graduation. Not only did he achieve a gold cord for his advanced academics, but he learned how to be a Christian ambassador. The teachers, administrators and all other staff were attentive and caring. My son had a very upsetting day in his senior year and his teacher (who was also the high school dean) took time out to have the class pray for him. He graduated in 2004 and stays in touch with many of his classmates. The graduation ceremony was unforgettable. We stay in touch with many of the faculty and principal and always recommend Bethesda to friends looking for a Christian school.

What is the cost for 6, 7, 8 grades for each year please. Single parent looking at the cost of private schools during these critical years.

I attended Bethesda Christian School from Kindergarten to 12th Grade. I enjoyed elementary school, but felt that middle and high school became too rigorous. Having now experienced college, I have realized that all the excessive homework I had at Bethesda did not really place me that far ahead of others. There are many students in my college honors classes that took advanced placement courses in high school and are on the same level or higher than I am. My suggestion would be that if your child plans to do any extracurricular activities in middle or high school, the homework load will be overbearing. Late nights and fast dinners were a common theme throughout my high school years. While I did not care for the academics, the character and small class size is a plus. However, if I were to do it over again, I would not have chosen Bethesda due to its suppression of extracurricular activities.

My daughter is in second grade at BCS. She's been there since kindergarten. BCS is an amazing school and I have no complaints at all. The teachers are loving, kind and give their all to teaching the children. My daughter is reading a a 5-6 grade level and writes in beautiful cursive. The teacher/student ratio is small. They teach the kids using the Honorable Character system which rewards them when they show positive character traits. You will never regret having your child at BCS! It is truly a gift to my family.
