Respectfully I don't the teachers are good some of them a really chill and don't learn anything while some other class is strict and you can talk at all my kid had a science teacher last year that barely teach she would put everything online and not explain what they're learning or anything, The volleyball athletic they most definitely picked favorites and only the people they know, my daughter played well and she didn't make the team? While other people play like her too, my guess is what they were doing at tryouts focusing and certain people sometimes and cause they didn't know her name that's what her friends tell me and that she deserved to be on the volleyball team cause she was good too and she got barely told what she's doing wrong, the off season people should re-tryout for a day or 2 just to see, I don't even think they gave them a chance but just watch other people. Now my daughter has to exercise when she deserved to be on the team. I used to go there myself and joined soccer and volleyball, and they were very fair back then. The staffing is okay, good fine arte director.

This school was pretty good. Some girl threatened to beat me up and they dealt with it instead of victim blaming, (unlike my new middle school) I really appreciate that. During I.s.s one day, i got my period and it got all over my pants and I didn't realize, and the lady slowly backed me out of the room and got me some new shorts. It's a great school, really. I could tell they cared about me during my time there. I would choose this middle school over my new one anyday.

Last year I took my time to made a research about the academic level of the middle schools at IISD, I found that De Zavala had the best accreditation and I asked for a transfer to my daughter; now she is a sixth grader in the best school that have a commitment for the student.

deZavala is amazing! My son as grown so much just from the beginning of the year. The teachers and leadership at this campus truly care about academic and overall health of students. Thankful that my son is able to attend.

Since my son been attending deZavala, he has began to be more responsible of his academic and his behavior. They address situations with him in ways that causes him to think and then offer him strategies to correct the behavior and learn. They do this all while making him feel loved, supported, and educated.

The Leadership has shown me that they have a direct interest in my son. Whenever a situation arises with him, they never make me feel like he is a problem, they ensure me that they are concern about what's going on supporting him in ways that will make him better.

My son is apart of the gifted program but stills struggles in traditional learning. His teachers has supported his learning style and allow him to learn in the way that best fits him.

Moving my daughter to de Zavala has been the best decision my wife and I have made. She loves going school and has excelled. Don't buy into the charter school hype. De Zavala is a great school by any standard.

De Zavala has a tenured and proven staff. The leadership has been established and they have kept some of the best minds in education on campus. This is rare in a Title 1 school. A revolving door of leadership and teachers is usually a red flag for any school, but that is not the case at de Zavala. My daughter has been able to build relationships with her teachers and they've been able to keep up with her success.

Ms. Horgan is one of the best in Irving ISD. She works hard on getting to know every student and does a phenomenal job building relationships with students and parents. She has also assembled a hard working and dedicated staff that has earned distinction after distinction for the campus.

After Irving allowed open transfer, I moved my daughter from Coppell ISD to de Zavala. She went from an environment were she was struggling with grades and building relationships to one were she is thriving in both areas. Her stress level is much lower and she has really formed bonds with teachers at de Zavala. This was not happening in Coppell.

My son loves to go to De Zavala, he is having a great experience. He is also happy with his teachers. I, as a mom, am very happy with all the hard work and support that teachers provide to all students. The only thing that I feel is missing is the communication about all the events, clubs, activities, etc. that are happening in the school. I feel that I am not well inform. But, overall, everything has been a great experience for all my family.

I really like that my daughter attends De Zavala. Everyone is wonderful from the office staff to the teachers and administrators. De Zavala is like one big family for my daughter and me; that teaches our children to succeed in their future.

We have been so pleased with our experience at DeZavala. The transition from elementary to middle school has been so much easier than we anticipated. Our kids are really flourishing, enjoying their classes and learning so much. We couldn't be happier with the experience.

The principal is a most ineffective leader. She does not care about her staff or the children- the only focus in her position is micromanaging every single movement of her staff to do as she sees fit. The only concern is how well everyone can perform on the STAAR test to make her look good.

The school is very invested in the success of both faculty and students. As a whole we work together to create a better learning environment through elective activities such as music, athletics, a stellar Spanish program and AVID programs. The school is welcoming to our parents by having computer classes for parents to come in and learn how to access different features and develop skills in basic computer tasks, as well as volunteer positions available led by our great parent liaison!

I like Lorenzo de Zavala Irving Tx School.

My daughter sounded come to this school, and we are happy, their teachers care about them, are available for your tutorials, and there are programs for parents, as now I am taking the computer class.
I register to volunteer and all staff are very friendly with parents, our, parent liaison is especially friendly and all staff always appreciates our help.
I like also the safety of the school.

The teachers go the extra mile for their students. Tutoring is offered before school and afterschool. The campus is clean and well monitored by the staff. Its a great place to send your kids!!

I'm a 8th grader that goes here. Honestly this school is THE WORST school in the iisd school district! Never send your kids here they'll hate it! I'm so ready to graduate out of 8th grade and get out of here! We have no fun activities here and all we do it test.

Honesty, i like this school. in the back of the school, before class, i see 6th , 7th, and 8th graders hanging out with each other. its great! Even if the principles yell at us, most of us are pretty great students and we have a bright future ahead. Us 8th graders, well we've matured a lot. We dont really cause a lot of trouble, and even if we do, they're pretty "small". & Ms.Horgan is a really good principle, she's a lot more interactive with us.

We've been really thrilled with de Zavala. The principal, Ms. Horgan, is excellent -- responsive and energetic. The GT program has been excellent and flexible for our son. The music program is simply outstanding. The choirs and orchestras are superlative. The awards that they won this year affirm the first rate quality of the musical education being offered. This school definitely deserves the commendations it has received, and I have felt at home as a dynamic and hands-on parent, with many opportunities to get involved. It disturbs me when people who have no experience of the Irving ISD do not realize its treasures. My biggest mistake was sending both kids to private school (a waste of $10,000 per year) because I was misinformed about what the public schools offered. Only when the private school failed my special needs daughter did I "luck" into the Irving ISD by default, realizing that my avoidance had been based upon sheer ignorance and prejudice. Luckily, we're there now and we are STAYING. Go, de Zavala Hawks! Go, Lively Eagles! And thank you, Irving ISD!

I reviewed this school once and appears my review has been deleted..... This school is horrible the administration is unhelpful and seems to try and talk down to the parents. The teachers are great it is unfortunate for them to teach in a district with little involvement from the parents. If you can do not allow your children to attend the Irving ISD any of the schools they are all low performing except one elementary which is exemplary.

I feel de Zavala is a great school, I am in 6th Grade G.T. I feel it could be better if the prinncipal was more involed like my old principal (Mrs.Bowling)she promised to jump out of a plane if we got exemplary and we did. I feel our principal needs to be involed more.
