Mrs. Bernier has been an exceptional Teacher and the staff seems to try hard to know all the students.

There is no end to how terrible their "anti-bullying" policies are. They are all talk, absolutely no punishment unless the victim defends themselves. Then the victim gets the punishment and the bullies get ignored.

Public schools seem to be at a severe disadvantage when it comes to students with learning differences. They want all kids to fit into a specific learning box. They discourage using experimentation or different types of learning styles to the point where the teacher (5th grade) will actually mark a math problem wrong if the method of getting to the CORRECT answer is not the one she's teaching!

If you mean "leadership" as the office choosing their favorite students and ignoring the rest of them, then yes, leadership is awesome here. But in the real world where leadership should be setting good examples and including everyone, leadership is pretty much a terrible thing here.

This school has an anti-bullying campaign and talks about bullying a lot, but that is the true extent of it. When bullying is actually happening, they turn away from it and pretend it isn't there. And should the kid getting picked on fight back, that poor kid is the one who gets in trouble! They constantly blame the victims, ignore the troublemakers, and pretend that their school is some kind of bully-free zone.

My daughter's third grade teacher was amazing. She really knew how to handle the students and how to get them engaged and excited to learn. That being said, she's a young woman who's teaching methods aren't adopted by other third grade teachers, and so far she's the only teacher that my daughter has actually liked. Fourth and fifth grade teachers were nice enough, but they didn't do anything to help my daughter stay engaged in learning. She's a really bright girl and she learns faster than the average kid. Third grade teacher got that and gave my daughter the stimuli she needed to stay focused. Other teachers have expected her to stay on the same pace with the rest of the class, which only results in her shutting down and moving on mentally.

Homework at this school is a real joke. They will send home a packet at the beginning of the week and it's due at the end of the week. The packet consists of topics learned throughout the previous week. This wouldn't be so bad if the packet was enough to actually require brainpower, but it doesn't. My daughter usually spends about five minutes twice a week on the homework. There's no recording of reading minutes in fifth grade, but rather a semi-required "suggestion" of 30 minutes per night.

My daughter has been attending this school since third grade. She is currently in fifth. While the teachers have been okay (third grade teacher was amazing), the office staff is horrible. They treat my daughter like a pariah, they won't let her call me when she needs to, and they have actively lied directly to my face on two occasions (that I'm aware of!). The principle is great, but I'm not sure how the office gets away with treating the kids the way they do.

The title 1 preschool teachers and the speech pathologist are the 5 stars of the school. The preschool is not even run by the elementary, they just use the space through davis school district. My child laerned so much while receiving specail needs education here for two years of preschool, i could never thank them enough.
The elementary is an entirely different subject. The pick-up is insane and draining. Parents regularly smoke on property, double park, drive the wrong way (even the principal waved at us while driving against the posted signs and traffic), and the children are poorly monitored. The high school and junior high practice for football, right next to the platground, shirtless and flex their muscles at the elementary kids as they are leaving school. No matter what i said to the office staff, principal, and school district nothing changed! They have a security for the kids added, no older kids or adults allowed in the building with out a pass from the office, but it was abused daily and teens and adults alike would roam the halls. it is a sad excuse for a school.

This is a wonderful school. My son just finished kindergarten this year, and he scored amazingly well on all of the DIBELS testing they require. He has learned a great amount of information academically, and has gained a lot of new social skills from this school, and from his wonderful teacher. We were SO blessed to have Mrs. Hutchison as his first teacher, she is truly an INCREDIBLE teacher, AND person. I would recommend her class to ANY one who has a child starting kindergarten. The only problem I have with this school is the end of the day pick-up procedure. It is a total mess, and takes entirely too long, which is the only reason I gave the school four stars instead of five.

I wouldn't even give this school one star. This school is terrible!!! I went here as a child and now my child goes here, and it is just awful!! I am trying SO hard to get him into another school! Most of the children that go there are not well taken care of (hair tangled in a mess, clothes 3x too small, kids in winter with no coats ect....) They never have anyone outside watching the children in the morning before they go inside, and I ALWAYS see bullying. One child was teaching my child swear words in Spanish, and the same child started a fight club........MY CHILD IS IN FIRST GRADE!!!! I hate the school!!!
