If this review were for elementary only the score would be much higher. Weve had good experiences there.
Certain elements of the junior high deserve higher rankings too, especially the amazing ELA teachers!
My problems with the school are based on student favoritism. Some teachers have allowed certain students to act in ways contrary to the schools stated values and the administration has allowed this and in some cases, endorsed it.
The following story is an example of what I mean. It began when the current theater teacher directed the 5/6th grade musical. A young man was given a lead. He must have impressed his teacher, because during his 6th grade year, she said incoming 7th graders could audition for AMT. This is the only year shes done that. He and a few others were admitted, then he insulted the intermediate students within their hearing.
The teacher thought she was enhancing opportunities for some of her best kids. What she did was inflate the egos of a few average actors so they felt entitled to demean their peers.
This young man was given the lead his 8th grade year. This shows discrimination based on age and Gender. I know of an 8th grade girl who gave an audition so strong the teacher told her it was perfect, and had she been in 9th grade she probably would have had the lead. So inferior 9th grade girls were given priority while the 9th grade boys were overlooked.
In 9th grade this young man wanted the lead again. He dropped many hints suggesting which of his friends he'd like as the other 2 leads. During the audition process, he took unauthorized photos of the directors casting notes, and sent them to his friends, soon half the class had seen them. Despite this breach of privacy, he and his friends got the parts he requested. We tried to address this with both the teacher and the administration and no one was willing to address our concerns.
I hope this review will help 3 groups: 1. Students who weren't chosen for advanced musical theater (AMT), Im hoping this can dull the disappointment. 2. Anyone considering a Jr. High theater class. I hope to help you evaluate the experience and temper expectations. 3. Anyone considering this school. It's got lots of good, just know they don't always stand by their values.

I think Legacy is a great school.
My sons education has been well-rounded, and the program has kept him genuinely engaged in learning. The teaching quality is better than what youd find in a normal school without a doubt.
Theyve done an excellent job of staying true to their vision and philosophy of providing a culture where students become productive and valuable members of their communities and building the foundation of knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary for children to become independent learners for life.
Im very happy with what theyve helped my son achieve so far, and I look forward to whats ahead.
That said they need to fix the parking and pickup lines. The current system is ridiculous.

The school Director and Jr. high Principal are horrendous. The police were called on a current student and the Director tried to press trespassing charges. Numerous, phenomenal teachers are leaving the school.

We have had kids at this school for 13 years. We have been through many teachers and admins. Overall we have loved LPA. My kid was more than ready for high school. We love the extra curriculars and all our kids can do with the smaller environment.

The elementary school is exceptional, providing a wonderful environment for young learners. However, the Junior High is in a state of crisis. The recent change in administration has brought unprofessional leadership, with the principal running the school in an authoritarian manner. This has led to the departure of several outstanding teachers and the award-winning junior high counselor.
Safety at the Junior High is a major concern. Despite multiple reports of a boy making sexually inappropriate remarks and propositions to girls, the administration ignored these complaints. Action was only taken when the boy cornered a girl in the bathroom, and even then, it was the bare minimum. Additional reports regarding bullying have likewise been ignored.
While some teachers are dedicated and capable, their efforts are hindered by administrative constraints. Unfortunately, other teachers are subpar; one even admitted to lacking a curriculum for years and resorting to Google for activities. Additionally, some teachers are not accredited, which raises legal concerns.
When confronted with these issues, the administration often lies or denies the facts, even when presented with evidence. The overall tone set by the leadership is dismal, prompting many students to transfer to local schools.
Given these problems, I cannot recommend enrolling your child in the Junior High until there is a change in administration.

The board of directors are buddies with the school directors and look the other way when there are issues. The co directors of the school and horrible. One of them especially yells at students and treats parents terrible. Her child walks around saying Ill have my mom expel you. The junior high principal is horrible and will ALWAYS side with bullies. They are all horrible and have no business working in education. The teachers are great but sadly cant just teach, they are babysat so closely by the administrators that they cant just teach. We would 100 percent NOT recommend this school.

In my experience, the teachers are pretty rude.
They will sometimes yell at you for no reason.
This does not make me as a student happy to go to school everyday. I have seen some kids leave the building without permission. The teachers at recess do not watch the children very well.
The education is not very good and I as a student of this school I do not feel ready to go to the next grade. Also I do really think that you should feel ready to go to the next grade but I think the math is way to easy for the grade you are in.
I do not think that it is good for students to feel this way when they are going to the next grade.
Some children do move schools just to get a better education than what this school offers.
Some children do not have manners and will do inappropriate things and say inappropriate words too. I do not think it is safe to bring your child here if you do not want them learning that it is ok to say those inappropriate words.
Some of the teachers and recess will say, DO YOU WANT ME TO YELL!!?, I do not think that it very kind saying that to a student. I think that this school should get some new teachers. The teachers now are not good at watching anything.
The people that are there are not always a great influence on your children and that will cause a lot of drama. Drama is not a thing you want to go to school and have. So I think it is important that your child should really learn about this school.
When you first get there it will seem great but when you are there just a few weeks it will get worse and worse. I think it is important that your child knows this before coming to this school. Also your child will get bully at this school, I have before and it made me really sad. This school will cause a lot of problems in your life. Some kids go to this school and then leave before the first semester ends. The teachers do not care if your child gets bullied. They only care about their reputation. All the teachers do is just make us watch a video and dont even teach. All of the work we do is on sketchy websites. I do not think this is safe for your child. I hope this review helps your decision on going to this school.

As a student who goes to this school I do not feel like I can do anything there because most of the school staff is very strict, I feel like I have to just stand outside during recess because the instructors outside yell at you all the time even when you are not doing anything wrong. The education is okay and their grading system is very confusing, the kids that go there shame people of their cars, hair, or shoes because they have a weird dress code and can't make fun of them because of their clothing so they find something else to make fun of. Also during class I find it very disruptive because the kids talk out loud all the time and the teachers never do anything about besides tell them to be quiet but then they keep talking and it affects my grades. I have seen people have problems at school and the staff has done nothing about it so I feel like they do not care what happens there. Please don't send your children here, they might like it at first but when they see the bad side of the school it sucks.

As a student at this school I am very aware of what my fellow peers and teachers do at recess, and from my experience, they are rude, not well mannered and generally disrespectful guardians looking after kids at recess. They would say things such as do you want me to yell?! These teachers make the problems worse.
The other thing is that I have seen kids straight up leave the property and no teacher even noticed. This makes me feel very safe. Having someone not watching out for you that stuff makes me feel like we need better recess guardians.
On the other hand the kids here are rude and stuck up, and when you tell and adult, they dont care and are honestly kind of rude about it.
The majority of the elementary teachers are fine but some of them are rude and on purpose, they are always looking for things to do to call you out.
I am ready to change schools!!!!
Please dont send your kid here, I know it looks like fun but the staff is not good and or supportive.

They just got new administration and they are so unprofessional and rude. if you have a problem, theyre not gonna listen theres lots cases with bullies and they dont do anything about it. Theyre very unorganized.

Most of the teachers and the counselors are wonderful! They care about the kids and are passionate about education. However, they are overworked and need more support.
Administration changed at the beginning of FY 22-23 and they are more concerned about appearances than actually caring for students social-emotional needs. Several students developed anxiety about their appearance from the over-emphasis on dress code/uniforms. Meanwhile bullying issues were blown off by administrators and when a special needs student had a medical issue, the student was blamed for the neglectful way it was handled.

I've heard of kindergarteners and 1st graders experiencing verbal and physical bullying here from the other kids. The teachers are overwhelmed and need more breaks. The kids are also not given any breakfast or snack options like at the much higher ranking nearby wasatch academy. And they don't offer any hot lunch but pizza a few times a year
The kids seem hungry and sad. At least they do have a great art teacher. Who started out great with recorces years ago that got us interested in this school; but she since seems to lost her funding or something. . The supervision at recess and lunch is by people with hot tempers who I've heard telling the kids : " are you going to make me yell?!" ... they need more calm staff. Seems they hire family of the current staff instead of real professionals who can handle a group of rowdy children without having a meltdown themselves.

Love LPA! Teachers are vested in each child. With two adults in every classroom, I feel like my child gets the attention and help she needs.

LPA and its teachers are awesome! My daughters love going to school everyday. They couldn't go to a better school.

My oldest daughter has gone to two other schools besides LPA. The public school she went to, she came home in a bad mood everyday and felt like she wasn't learning anything. She attended another charter school briefly before attending LPA and they weren't even teaching Math at that school! She loves going to school now that she goes to LPA and her little sister does, too.

I LOVE LPA!! Watching my son grow and learn with the help of the teachers and staff has been amazing. He is in the first grade and its amazing to see him learning things I was not taught until the 3rd grade. Keep up the great work LPA
