The school is great. The principal is awful. Some of the teachers are also combative and defensive when we tried working with them on issues my daughter has medically they spun it around on my child. Very accusatory and unwavering. I do NOT like the Principal or his style of administration or the way he treats the kids.
He needs to be gone and not making decisions for children. As for his staff, I have had many wonderful encounters from teachers at the school with a few that are just awful.
I'm pulling my child out so he can learn in a better environment at home. And yes....we did have a 504 plan which they would take my concerns for accommodations and make them very vague. At the end of one of our meetings, I was in absolute tears. My son will never be going back to public school again and If I had the money, I'd sue.

This school applies a one size fits all approach to every student and their learning. Students who are advanced, stagnate. Students who need help are ignored.

Teachers assign busy work and memorization work that do not promote genuine learning.

Teachers use television in the classroom frequently. Teachers teach students how to take tests not how to learn.

I am very disappointed in this school. I had to ask multiple times to get an individual parent teacher conference for my son instead of an open house style conference. His teacher shows a lack of English skills herself but grades her students punitively.

I don't feel like my daughters teacher has the time or energy for his class. He's very nice , but he doesn't grade their homework , and my boyfriend's little sister (young mothers lol) who is in 1 grade up there ,is being rude and gives very confusing homework out. :/

Ellison Park Elementary School is a great school. My kids love it and the teachers are very supportive and dedicated.

My child is in K. Even though it's 2.5 hrs/day, she learn so much and is doing very well. Her teacher keeps us up to date news. Her teaching skills are awesome. I always receive school letters and notices by email from the principal. Since I work FT during the day, this is a great way of keeping me in the loop. I like the separation of play yard for little kids. Each K class room have it's own restroom. I don't recall seeing restrooms in the hallway, so it must be part of the classroom sections. Safety is very important too, and I feel confident to leave my child in their care.
