UMA has an abysmal academic success rate. The administration and the staff focus too much on military discipline and not nearly enough on education. Students are expected to maintain lofty ideals, but those ideals are not explained or demonstrated for them to practice. School policies are consistently changed or replaced, making understanding and following them extremely difficult. Further, staff and students are held accountable under these policies without prior notice that said policies were adjusted. School supplies are extremely limited, and much of the schools equipment is either old or in poor repair. The schools buses are in extremely poor condition due to age and lack of proper maintenance.

As a mother of 2 students at Utah Military Academy, I am thrilled at the difference in just a few short years in my children. They are more responsible, more respectful, and carry themselves with pride. Pride in themselves, there country, and those who have come before them. They know that they will be shaping the future for others and are working to show themselves as examples. Love this school, love the teachers. There are always some issues, but overall Awesome. Highly recommend

Firstly, it needs noted not to confuse this school with another listed on here as "Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams." Though there is a connection, and District Leadership in common, they are different schools and campuses.
That being said, as one of the original teachers at UMA, who has been here ever since it opened, I can definitively say that UMA isn't for everyone, but CAN be an amazing opportunity for those who want it - and will commit to it.
We can provide so many unique opportunities, from aircraft maintenance, pilot's licenses, military exposure, legislative internships, and a nationally-award-winning Drill team, cyber team, and marksmanship teams. We have so many extra-curriculars offered as well. However, NONE of these will mean a thing if a Cadet doesn't choose to get involved, doesn't attend, and doesn't stay eligible. I believe we set some high expectations, but will rise along with those who rise to meet them. Likewise, if a Cadet is determined to break rules, push boundaries, and not conform to expectations this will be a miserable experience for them AND for us. We are NOT a reform school. We are also not THE MILITARY - we are a school, with a military emphasis and structure, and some amazingly dedicated staff and small student-to-staff ratio.
If you want to succeed, we will help you do it. If you want to be nurtured, noticed, and guided, we are here for you. I have seen many students who needed UMA, and many students that UMA needed. Come take a tour. Come shadow for a day. See if we're a good fit for you, and if you think you can succeed here. But if not, then find what IS right for you. The school is alright, the homework is very easy, which helps sped kids like me, but I noticed a lot of other students take advantage of it. The types of students that go there are either mostly druggies, or "troubled kids", & kids who want to join the military and learn, and then the rest artsy kids. The whole middle school being mixed with the high school that's here, is kinda weird because there are seveys who are already doing stuff, because of the enviorment they are raised in there, even though they just 7th graders. Also 12th graders are hitting on the 7th graders which is kinda wrong lol. But overall when you go to the school the students there are very aggressive and like to make fun of others and will want to fight you. Also the students are direspectful to the teachers, but with the whole people being aggressive there and bullying others, ya just gotta find your people there, it takes awhile to find friends there, since everyone hates everyone there, but eventally you make a friends it just takes effort. But overall would say its pretty simlair to other highschools, just very very more strict, and students more aggressive and wanna fight you vibe, the homework isn't as hard as other high schools so thats pretty nice. But its a mid school, but you dont make friends there, you will be extra depressed so ye, good luck on anyone attending, thats overall what the sschool is like right now, the reviews and school just want to hide the truth, and make it seem like a really good school with really good students. If you are sending your kid there to get more respectful, it will do the opposite, because I atually use to be a very respectful person, but the school enviorment here, kinda messed me up tbh -

Unfortunately the review on Facebook and Google could potentially be inflated to boaster the schools ratings. In short, parents who care anything about their childs education would stay far away from this particular school. In my personal opinion the only thing military about the school is the uniforms. The school lost its edge, appeal, and most of the staff have no association with the military.

This school is by far the most exceptional school around. The teachers and staff are amazing and respectable. They teach the best curriculum and leader ship I highly recommend the school this is a 10 out of 10
