Not too much homework assigned. kids have enough of a job learning at school and need free time to be kids and to chill.

My kids do learn best in this school. I am amazed at how much they know, how well they tackle problems and how prepared they are for college.

Very responsive to any question I may have. All Admin make themselves available for students. They are creative and support teachers as well so real learning takes place.

This school has an amazing student body who grew up together and curtesy toward fellow students and teachers was taught from the beginning. We do not have a problem with bullying. Also no problem with students seeking to wear the right clothing or having to be in the “right” friendship group. That kind of peer pressure is remarkably absent. Students are super supportive of each other.

Absolutely wonderful place for my kids to learn and grow - freedom to push themselves academically and musically. Marching band is outstanding.

The character of its students is the strength of MPHS. Every school has its issues, but my experience with the students at the high school is that they are motivated, accepting of the diversity that exists within their ranks, and has a strong love and devotion to each other. There are a fair number of students who have been together since early grades. They are a close group and it shows.

My caveat with this is a majority of the time, parents don't understand what constitutes bullying so they are quick to say that they arenT effective. That said, I think the school could better educate parents as to the policies related to bullying. I think a larger problem is when adults at school or at home model bullying behaviors without taking ownership of it. That is a much bigger problem in this community.

I have had two children go through their K-12 experience in Manassas Park and I have been very impressed in what this small high school is capable of providing for its kids.

As an equity issue, students who are lower income have a more difficult time completing homework. While the school works hard to provide time for those students, they still work to enforce rigor as well. Those college prepatory classes do have the requisite content in class and at home. Many of the teachers provide flexibility to their diverse student body in when and how it gets done.

I am a current student in MPHS. I love the electives so much and the teachers are nice most of the time. I started off at Cougar ES from grades PreK-2 then I went to MPES from grades 3-5 then I went to MPMS from grades 6-8 and now I am a Freshman in MPHS. Life in MP has been amazing. When I have kids, I will definitly enroll them in all the MP schools!

If the teachers actually had a proper planning period. Absoltely. Teachers do not get enough time and not enough pay for it.

They dont treat all students equally. And only a select few get preferential treatment. If they actually put the best teachers with the most troubled students. Maybe give the teachers rewarding raises instead of just promoting them into an office. They wouldn't be getting a poor review

Should put more efforts into teacher hiring process and student academics instead of the next government funded grants. As an Alumni I was thoroughly disappoint and with a sibling currently in the system it sounds like nothing has changed. I live in Loudoun Co now so that way my kids actually get a good education instead of a half hass poor excuse. Most of their graduated students dont have the skills to take on 4 year institutions and most feel like NOVA is the only option. Which for some is. They dont care and that's how most students feel.

They have a bunch of piss poor useless teachers mixed in with a few phenomenal ones. They hire to many young teachers to cut costs and some of those end up in inappropriate relationships 2 that I know of within the past 5 years. Which I find repulsive. Spend some money in experienced older teachers.

Also the guidance counslour will not pay attention to your child if they are below a 3.7 GPA and even then it is questionable. They only care if they will end up going to a 4 year and will already predetermine your childs success if they are not enrolled in all Honor/AP course. They wont push your child to achieve except for mediocrity.

I love this district. I am a graduate of MPHS and I have a child in each school at this time. The teachers are great and they have recently made positive changes as far as class sizes, which allows more one on one time. My child has a class with 13 students in it! We love everything about it.

I really like this school!! School emails us weekly about things going on in the school! Always calls to give information that is needed!! The school is very clean and newly remodeled!!

BEST SCHOOL EVER! They offer honors classes for freshmen (: yayyy. They recently added and offer new elective classes like Photography, Fashion, Pottery, etc... So many classes that I want to take!!! Unfortunately, you can only choose so many. Overall, MP is great. The teachers are outstanding with their advanced teaching and their funny characteristics. I also loved the students. The school is not stereotypical and is very diverse. Students are nice. Again, BEST. SCHOOL. EVER.

This is one of the best schools I have attended, excellent teachers, the principal is always involved if something happens and the students are oustanding.

This is an excellent school for a standard education; my child had to meet minimum requirements but often did not feel the work was up to the right challenge level. It seemed easy to get an exemplar score on a test without much preparation from the class. He was often bored at school, but he made some nice friends.
